Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

<leaves flaming skid marks on the street a la "Back to the Future">

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'd go read, but I have a massage in 15 mins...

Hey Bendy.. Miss me yet????

Tomorrow is the canal... We drop anchor off the enterance to the canal... will go through starting around 6 ish... I want to sleep on the deck tonight with the rest of the disers (the semi crazy ones...) but I may enjoy a/c more... I hear the bugs are bad too...

How ya doing Plank-man? You can read once you get home ... you won't be traveling much after this (or will you???).

Enjoy the canal tomorrow and don't eat any strange looking bugs!

Brenda,

Your reviews of Vegas gluttony will double the strip's economic forecast for the second half of 2008! Makes me want to schedule a little trippy south myself.

I know what you mean about getting from point A to point B on that strip.
We got lost in the Lexor. After almost looking for a divorce court, we finally emerged. We were staying at the Mirage and thought checking out Mandaley Bay would be a hop skip and a tram ride. 3 HOURS later we arrived. Cab ride back.

Deb

Hi Deb! If you think it's bad now, wait until you see the next three dinners ... :scared1: :rotfl2:

I think it can be very confusing for people to figure out where they're headed in Vegas hotels / casinos ... it's not like they want people to leave so I don't think they make it very easy, especially for tourists. We've been to Vegas four times now and we still get turned around in some of the larger places.

Here's a picture of Jay and me at the end of the Brewer's dinner last week ... I think we look cute for a couple that worked all day and then sampled 8 diifferent beers ...

look closely ... Jay's wearing a F&W Festival polo!!!

Hi Bendy!!! I just had lunch... no bugs... unless they come with cocktail sauce!!!

Did the Gatun locks this morning... Pretty cool... will try to post a picture later...my tablemate and good friend Matt has his laptop with him...

We had to be up on deck really early, but we had to wait to get clearance. EVERYONE is  THRILLED  to see Mickey Mouse up on the outside bridge. We've been greeted all along the way!!!

Ducky Williams is sitting not far from us at dinner... will try to get a picture with him. (he's not drawing until tomorrow...) :upsidedow

Champagne tasting was yesterday... I prefer brut... can you please have some on ice for me when I get home???

Exactly! They do this on purpose. I've heard on the Travel Channel that they make the exits from the casinos very hard to find so you'll just stay and lose more of your money there! Unfortunately, I don't have any money to lose!:headache:

BLOG UPDATED: A relatively short entry that includes breakfast and lunch of a non-threatening and "normal" nature from the same establishment.

The next update will either be dinner at Alize or a "we interrupt Las Vegas for a brewer's dinner review" ... just depends on the mood I'm in later this week.

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Greetings friends! I've updated the blog with a review of the Ultimate Beer Dinner that we attended two weeks ago. Come pay us a visit when you have time and have a safe, wonderful Memorial Day weekend! :goodvibes

Hey Jodi! I've heard about that on some different travel channel shows, too. I hate it ... I guese we're just in the minority of travelers to Vegas who don't want to gamble. :confused3

Fabulous update! Beer and dinner is one of my favorite combinations!

Any plans for memorial day? We have cheese and wine aspirations for this weekend with a little Indiana Jones thrown in for good measure. :goodvibes

Thanks for reading - it was a fun evening!

As for the weekend ... great minds! We were at Whole Foods this afternoon stocking up some necessary items (CHEESE!) and then we went to see the new Indiana Jones movie! :thumbsup2

The movie was mucho funzo!!

Brenda,

What influence you have over your fans!
I've just booked a trip to Vegas to have a little mother/daughter bonding (i.e. eating) with Amanda before she heads off to Japan.
It's all your fault tempting me with that gastronomical porn!

Staying at Bellagio with Pacyard's for sure, Isla for sure, and waiting patiently to hear about the rest of your dining. popcorn::

Deb

Hi Brenda,

it took a while for me to remember the site you mentioned during PFS, but I finally found it as well as your post about the Scotch pairing. Yes, DH and I were the ones who sat with you both times... :)

Deb! You didn't?! Did you???

How long before you leave? I'm in the middle of Alize right now and then still have five more resturants and one bar to review after that. My gawd ... we were such pigs!

How exciting and what a nice mom you are! I wonder if it's wrong to wish that Grimace would do something like that for me? :rolleyes1

That's a cute photo of the two of you. I love the fact that Jay wears Disney shirts, my DH would never.

Thanks Laura! Jay will only wear Disney stuff like you see in this picture, or he'll get a F&W t-shirt - that's it. He'd rather use the money for eating! ::yes::

Hey there!!! It's the pretty blond lady married to the guy with the great smile whose names I don't remember! :rotfl: I'm so glad you made it to the DIS and stopped in to say hello. :goodvibes

I hope you two enjoyed all of your F&W vacation ... weren't you planning on attending an exquisitely expensive evening or a signature dinner on that Wednesday following the pairing? How did it go and did you think it was worth the expense? We'd really like to try one this year (if the dates fall in place for us).

Hope you're both well!

I blathered on about your very beery report. :)

Cool! I will have to go read it once I get home ... can't blog from the office. Actually, I'm still surprised I can get on this site from the office. ;)

Thanks for checking out our beery good times. Next year we're going with friends ... :thumbsup2

Hi Brenda
I have just discovered your TR and am loving it so far!
You guys sounds so much like DH and & I We're DINKs too and go to F&W every year.

We are beer AND wine snobs, not something you usually find in one person much less two.

I have only been reading your posts and not others comments (I'd never finish if I did) so someone may have already made this comment. German Rieslings are not generally sweet, that's something we Americans did to it. Most of the one's made here and the German one's sold here are sweet but there are some good dry Rieslings out there too. So next F&W try a Riesling in Germany just ask for a dry one. BTW I'm surprised you didn't go over to the Spaten window just ourside the Biergarten, that's what we always do even during F&W. You have to buy a full sized beer though :drinking1 and that would be terrible. :rotfl2:

Welcome Lynn!!! Thanks for reading and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying everything - reading my reviews is a bit of a time investment.

Jay has always been a beer snob ... and I think I'm beginning to catch up to him. ;) As for wine ... we hover somewhere between snob and just plain dumb. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the additional info on the Rieslings - bad Americans for ruining a good thing. We have tried some French Rieslings that are more dry and we like those very much, so when in Germany we just stick with beer. And we did find the Spaten window later in the week and that is a fine fine brew ... we didn't mind drinking a full-sized portion at all! :rotfl2:

Thanks again for reading and if you like beer, come check out our blog when you have a chance - I just posted a review of a brewer's dinner that we attended a few weeks back. The link's in my signature.

**Speaking of the blog ... I just want to reiterate that anyone is welcome to stop by and see what we get up to outside of WDW. I'm only half-way through the Vegas restaurants we tried on our trip in April and some of the best is still to come. Also, please feel free to say whatever the heck you'd like if you do choose to leave a comment. :thumbsup2 **
