Looking for some ideas for DD Volleyball team for something a little extra.

Freezer Pops after a hot long Practice
Water Balloons

Thinking of making Acia bowls

Any other ideas?

My kids played 3 season varsity sports in HS, parents weren’t involved/there for practices. They had pasta parties hosted by parents before games/meets, and sometimes kids would go out together after games to bond.

No parents at practices. We host Team meals at School. Would give coach the Popsicles (kept in school Cafe) and she decides when to give them out.

That would be inexpensive if it’s a thing. My kids played soccer, basketball, xc and track, there weren’t any snacks.

I’ve never heard of after-practice snacks for high school. Most of the kids high-tail it out of there after practice; they aren’t encouraged to hang around.

And I hate to be “that” parent, but sweets aren’t necessarily the best option, even healthy-sounding fruits. You don’t know dietary restrictions for most of the players, and it’s really frustrating for a teen to forgo a team treat. My DDs volleyball team has at least 2 diabetics, including a T2 who is trying really hard to manage it by diet and exercise. It’s bad enough when teams have pasta dinners, but snacks after practice — it really makes someone with dietary concerns feel excluded.

did the coach ask you to bring something? the only time I have taken anything was when DD was playing recreational soccer at like 7 years old and that was because it was asked by the coach. She plays club now for a few years and maybe maybe only bring Gatorade for a long tournament or very hot day or extra water in case someone forgets theirs but no snacks.

If you really want to take something, maybe extra bottles of water. Toss them in a cooler filled with ice. Please stay away from Gatorade; if acceptable the player will bring their own - that stuff is full of sugar. At our school the players bring their own water bottle for practices or tournaments as well as any food/snacks; at a tournament there might be a concession stand.

Most HS athletes bring their own water/beverage/snacks based on what they like to eat and what works for them. I agree with those who commented previously that most will tend to leave after practice and parents aren't generally there except to pick up their child to give them a ride home. Providing something for everyone could get to be expensive and some families may not be able to afford that added expense. I would certainly speak with the coach to get his/her input on whether they would be in favor of this before doing something on your own.

Never once was asked to do this on hs or ms. Maybe the last time for an after practice snack was around age 5. Being a parent of a child with dietary restrictions it was hard enough on game days, to have to arrange a likensnack after practice would be too much. Let the kids handle it on their own. If they want to get together after for a treat, they will arrange it.
