We are going next Wednesday (crowds are predicted to be low); we are hoping to be there at or near rope drop at 9AM (however, will depend how late we are out the night before!).
We have a FP+ for Star Tours at 10:30.
We selected TSMM for our Tier one FP+ - and this is the first year my son is able to ride Rock n roll coaster so we are excited to ride that too.
But, we also want to sign up for the Jedi Training which he hasn't done either!

So, without crisscrossing the park twice.

Would it be reasonable /doable to go straight to the coaster and ride it and then go sign up for Jedi Training and still make the cut? I think we should have plenty of time to get to our FP+ at Star Tours (ends at 11:30).

If we had to pick Jedi or Coaster - I think he will pick Coaster.

If we do Jedi sign up and then Star Tours - how much of a wait will we have for coaster?

thanks, everyone!

The basic problem is you may not get Jedi Training Academy at all unless you go there when you first arrive. That doesn't apply to any other attraction you are interested in--at least you'll have the option to wait. If you are okay with potentially missing JTA entirely, you can risk it. Otherwise, go there ASAP.

I know you are probably right - I think we missed it last time because my son was waffling on whether he wanted to do it or not.

Too bad they do not offer a FP+ for JTA!

Thanks for asking because we are in the exact same dilemma! DD6 is measuring 48 inches barefooted with 23 days to go. She wants to head to RnR first to ride and then head to JTA. We're doing HS for two days so if we miss JTA sign up our first day, we'll head there first on our second HS day.
I'm subscribing for all the great tips I know will be coming! Thanks for asking OP and thanks in advance for the advice everyone! :)

They don't offer FP+ for JTA because there's an age restriction on it (4-12, I believe) and also because they ask the kids a couple of questions to make sure that they'll be OK up on stage. (They don't want kids getting scared at the sight of Darth Vader.)

We went in early December 2013 and got there before rope drop at HS. We dashed straight to the sign up for JTA and still had about a 45mins wait, then our show time wasn't until almost 5.30pm. If anyone in the party wants to do the JTA you really MUST go straight there, as in - RUN :)

And they also don't want 45 year-old adults demanding to be in the show because they have a FP. That's why there will never be FP for JTA - need to keep out the adults and the 3 and under kids.

Alternatively, they could program MDE so that only guests between the ages of 4-12 are able to make FP for JTA (seems like an easy enough thing to add, since they already have everyone's birthday in the system). Or at the very least they could add a little warning in red with the JTA FPs saying that they are only valid for ages 4-12.

It probably is possible for FP to be programmed for age ranges. But, if you've ever read any of the JTA threads here, there's a large group of people who teach their 3-year olds to lie about their ages and feel it is their right to do so.

With MagicBand swapping, which is legal, can you imagine what the JTA shows would consist of and the poor cast members who would have to deal with that?

Dhs is small, so the crisscrossing isn't so bad. Ordinarily, I do NOT enjoy crossing back & forth needlessly! I got to rope drop about 45 min early, so was about 4 families back from the tapstiles. We did not run to JTA sign ups, so many people got there ahead of me & I had about a 20-30 min line til I was totally through. First 3 jedi shows were already full & I had my pick of shows from noon on. We went straight from there to RnR (no FastPass, did not rush at all) and the line was about 15 min. By the time we finished, the line had built to longish standby, but we had no trouble getting our first ride in.

Summary: I definitely recommend going to JTA first. You can still do both. If you are willing to run, you can even get in more than 1 RnR before lines build.

Oh I am a runner and can usually get my DS to run - but, hubby (who actually is a runner for exercise) refuses to run when we are in a hurry - it's like a big pet peeve of mine! Sorry for the rant! But, yeah, I guess I could take my DS with me and tell hubby where to meet us at so he can stroll along.... :rolleyes1

Well - that is the plan for now - get there early at RD and scurry to the JTA and then hussle back to RnR... with all that hustling I outta be able to indulge in an extra treat somewhere along the day and not feel too guilty!
