HP event

There are already two amazing theme parks w/o any of the new HP stuff.

I'm glad the OP posted this, I wanted to wait to take a first time huge potter fan until the expansion was done but I don't think I can pass up on this event, she will have such a blast and I've been 2 times to WWOHP and I can't wait to go back.

It seems to indicate that the early entry to WWoHP is available in off-site hotels that are part of the package. Is that true? If so, off-site might be a doable deal.

Couldn't you guys keep this a secret?LOL I already have 2 trips planned to Universal one in Oct for HHN and another family trip in November. Now I hear about This! My wife is a huge HP fan and our anniversary is Jan 25th. So, I don't know how I can turn this down. She still talks about how amazing the one in November 2011 so thanks a lot guys. Maybe I can talk her into accepting jewelry instead

Yes. Early entry is included with this package for on-site AND off-site hotels. This was the case with the 2011 package as well. In fact, that time around, the parks opened at 6:00am on two of the days, if I recall correctly, so our early entry ended up being 2 or 3 hours before anyone else was let into the parks at all. It was great! They haven't indicated opening THAT early this time, but it'd be really great if they'd do that again!! :)

This event does seem to be lacking a few things the 2011 one had though. In 2011 at the red carpet gala event drinks were unlimited and alcohol was one per person but with several different drink locations we saw a few that had a bit too much. Also, included in addition to the Gala event was one reserved autograph session. The actors we met were Rupert Grint and the actors that portray his father and twin brothers at the reserved session. At the Gala we got autographs from 11 different actors from the film. The event was truly amazing for any HP fan.

I just remember so many people complaining about the 2011 one; how it was so unfair and poorly planned. Hope this one doesn't get the same negative attention.

Unfair? Seriously, people said it was unfair? How in the world so!?

I noticed that, too, when I read the package descriptions. The 2011 event was amazing from start to finish! I'm sure this one will be magical too, just different! :)

oops, sorry............:rolleyes1

i started the thread so to give a heads up to those doing their vacation for late january 2014. ;)

nothing like planning on going during a slow period and find out something special is going to bring out the crowds.

looks like i know what anniversary present you are giving the wife next year.

Something about tickets being sold out and some people getting more autographs than others? I don't recall all the details, just that there were some upset people.

Thanks for the link. It let me go back and see although this package offers less, the price is more in line with what the Celebration package offered instead of the Premier package while offering more than the celebration one did. I read a bit and was able to see that there were indeed mistakes made and many dissatisfied, however I did not notice any of this myself at the event.

Same here. We had a wonderful time! There were definitely glitches (as there will ALWAYS be with an event of this magnitude), but Universal's team members were wonderful to work with. It's a bummer to hear other people say that they had bad experiences.

I definitely learned that with a special event like the 2011 package or this one, it's commonplace for venues/organizers to hold back some tickets to give away. I get that some people don't think that's fair, but imagine being one of those people in the parks, getting such an amazing surprise.... what an amazing, potentially life-changing moment!

Another lesson learned:If you want to purchase this package, be online and ready to go with your CC information and all that jazz, because it may sell out VERY quickly. Most of the complaints seemed to stem from people who tried to purchase the premier package but weren't able to, and then were irate when they saw people at the parks being given passes to the gala, which was only available in the premier package.... even though they'd been told that the premier package was sold out. (Again, "sold out" doesn't necessarily mean all of the tickets are GONE - just the ones that they plan to sell are gone!)

Did anybody go to A Celebration of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando last time? (I got an e-mail from Universal saying that it will be held January 24-26 next year.)

If you went - which people from the movies were there?

What did you like about the event? What did you dislike about it?

Any advice for people who are thinking about going?

The best advice I can give you is if you are really interested in go in and order as soon as it opens. Last time Premier packages sold out in minutes. There is another thread on here a little farther down discussing the event as well and it even includes a link to the thread about last event which will tell you who was there and some of the praise as well as complaints about how everything was handled.

it states that is the price per adult.

do read the small box that gives the details.

small box lists:

†Rate is per adult, tax inclusive and based on double adult occupancy for a 3 night stay at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort standard room. Subject to availability, room type, hotel, and travel dates selected. Rate valid for bookings now – 1/23/14 and travel 1/20/14 – 1/29/14. Additional onsite hotels, rates and travel dates available.

So does this mean kids will be free? I think the question about pricing for other family members meant for those of us who want to bring our kids, what will the package cost for them. I would like to know this to as I have an 11 year old Harry Potter nut.

Thanks.

i know there were children at the 2011 parry hotter event.
i know the onsite hotels allow 2 adults, 3 kids in the standard rooms.

for this upcoming HP event, i am not sure how that will work.
i have not read thru the older thread of 2011 for costs for children attending the event.

that is, if there is an additional cost after the double occupancy for the room is set up for the HP gala portion.

the room would not incur more expenses than listed but the programs in the park i am thinking about, which i believe is your question.

if no one can help answer your question based on their experience of the last HP gala, maybe you can call UO and find out from them.

do so before the date and time the booking goes live.

in the 2011 event, there was a section of Q & A.
it did list that it is up to the parent to decide if the program would be suitable for their children.
