HP event

I dont see the word premier mentioned on the advertisement. What is that refering too? On site hotels?

Also, I would be interested to know why 'kids' would not be targeted for this event? My teens would love it. What part would be considered 'inappropriate' for them?

Thirdly, are you telling me that the price is per adult, but kids are free possibly? And what is considered an adult at UO? I find this promotion very confusing. I know I can and probably will call regarding this to the phone center, but just wondering what my disboarder buddies can shed light on.

TIA

ooops Mac, just saw the end of you post regarding kids - shame on me!

The 2011 event had 2 different packages for purchase. One was the Premier package which had everything the Celebration package had plus a reserved autograph session and admission to the nighttime gala event. The current offer has only one package listed and does not include a listed autograph session. It sounds like a better value than the previous Celebration Package but missing a little of what made the Premier package so great. Of course the price is more in line with the previous Celebration package making it appear to be a much better bargain for someone planning to go already.

FYI: I just called the number for Universal's Vacation Package hotline to ask about pricing for children and/or families. The lady I spoke to said that they have not even been given full pricing information for the event yet, and we will have to wait until August 22 when the booking opens. They open at 8:30 EST, and she said to call early as the packages will sell out quickly. That's too bad, because I was hoping to know if we could afford it or not before August 22.

I think the pricing quote on the advertisement page is like any pricing in any travel brochure. They give you the lowest price per adult based on two adults staying in the room. If you have kids, you'll still have to pay for their tickets but if they are under 18, they stay in your room for free.

If you look at the pricing of the normal 3 night packages ( https://www.universalorlando.com/Vacation-Packages/2-Park-Getaway.aspx ), you'll see that is how it is done -- although the normal 3 night packages just include a two day ticket. You can fiddle around with the normal package pricing to see what the comparables would be.

Thanks for everyones replies, much appreciated it.

Looks like the package pricing could be easily misinterpreted, especially for the casual consumer. At first glance, I figured you would multiply the price per person- then realized that would not make sense. But kids have to add something due to their tickets, even if they are staying in the room with the parents.

Maybe not a big issue because most people leaping on this offer will be 'those in the know', but not a clear and concise way to market, I dont think, for the average joe.... it certainly look like a much better 'deal' if they priced it with 4 in a room, 2 parents, 2 juniors.....even if the tickets increase the overall price....

Hmm.
Anyways, thanks again! Someone saved me a call today, so ty!

Hi I had the same question about children. I have an 11 year old that would be going with us. The customer service rep I spoke with told me it will be about $150.00 per kid. This will be for the tickets to the park and all the events. I think that is a good figure to work with. Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the update. Looks like its the weekend in the middle of my kids final exams for first term, so no go for us, darn it.

Can I piggyback this thread and ask a HP releated question to the vets out there?

I am just wondering about timelines regarding HP2, and would like to know how the roll out of HP at IOA went.

I remember in March of 2010, The ellen show did a 'sneak peak' of the land, and it was not open at all to the public. I THINK it was fully open sometime around mid june of 2010, maybe just not 'officially. Here are my questions

1. Did they open the land 'first', before the castle was open for riding? So people could go into the stores, and dueling dragons, and hippogriffs? If so, how far in advance did it open of the actual ride?

2. Anybody remember when they started testing the ride with soft openings at the castle?

3. When was the 'official' grand opening of HP land at IOA? The media circus event I mean

4.Was 3 broomsticks open when the land opened up for visitors?

Sorry to hijack the thread, just did not want to start a new one.

TIA

I can't tell from the ad. If we have an AP and do not buy any special tickets, would we be in the 1st come, 1st serve category? I mean, can we just show up & hope we get into the Q&A?

my guess would be if the reservations for the different events don't sell out, anything could be possible.

last big gala did sell out.
suggest you call and ask if you can book any of the reserved sessions on the day it goes public for booking.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. The right side of the ad shows Park to Park allows: Harry Potter film tribute (fri), Wand class (1st come 1st serve) and Q&A (1st come 1st serve). I'm wondering if I would need to actually buy Park to Park tickets specifically for the event or, can I just use my AP and hope to get in on the 1st come, 1st serve?

I would think that the package people will be getting some specific entrance tickets. I don't think that they would sell these packages and then just let the general public into these events before the people who actually bought the up-priced package.

Definitely! :-) They're selling reserved seating to the Wand thing and Q&A. Makes sense - they're paying ;-)

I'm super excited to say we will be going to this. I went to the last one which was in 2011 for the DVD/ Blu-ray release of the final movie and we had a blast! And at the final gala were given the opportunity to meet just about every one of the actors who had come to the event.

It DID sell out very quickly last time. And you CAN NOT book over the phone. You have to do it online.

Did anyone purchase the package? We wanted too but just couldn't manage it at this time.

Hi yes I did purchase the package. I bought the off-site package. My daughter is obsessed with Harry Potter. It was a lot of money but I did it for her. I hope it is worth it.
We were going to go this summer when the new HP park opened but now we will have to wait till the following year.
We are excited about this event, we will see.:)

I just saw this:

A Celebration of Harry Potter™ takes place in BOTH
Universal Studios® and Universal’s Islands of Adventure®
theme parks. Admission is included with any park-to-park ticket
or Annual Pass.

Unless they are stating the absolute obvious, that admission to the parks is included with any park to park ticket or AP, I think they are saying that Admission to the Celebration is included with any p2p ticket or AP. OF course, the events included in that are first come first serve (no doubt with a separate seating area from the people with reserved seats).

I'm actually feeling hopeful.

Because we have APs, and we have a longer stay than the package. I have the 18th-26th booked for 1537 right now. If I did 18th through 23rd room-only then the package from 23rd to 26th (b/c it wouldn't let me do it from the 24th) that's increasing my costs by $1001.

And since we plan on keeping our APs renewed, those tickets aren't going to be useful to us.

So I'm feeling hopeful after seeing that tidbit on the first page where you can select the package or the tickets.
