Me husband and I were thinking of planning our next Disneyworld Vacation in mid-January or February (not 2009, but just in general)...we checked the averages on Orlando's weather and it looks like our kind of weather! :cool1:

But we're wondering....how are the crowds around this time?? :confused3

It depends on exactly when you go. Both mid-Jan./Feb. have a holiday in them and around that time can be busy. If you can miss that time, it can be pleasant crowd wise. The weather can be iffy. I have gone a couple of times at the beginning of January after the school/holiday crowds leave and one year the weather was very nice 70's/50's and another year the highs were in the 50's and the lows every night were below freezing. There were no ice scrapers in the rental car - I had to use my drivers license to scrape the ice off the windows. But - we were at WDW and it was below zero at home, so all was good.

I went at the end of January '08 and the crowds were quite light. It was pretty cold on arrival day, but the rest of the week was in the high 60's-low 70's.

We love January at WDW!! Great weather (not hot, humid, or rainy, and we don't mind an occasional cold snap), great crowd levels (even MLK weekend is slower than summer or spring break, and the rest of the month is very slow), great prices (value season and lots of specials), and great dining availability (we can change ADRs up to the day we eat, and get pretty much exactly what we want).

DD and I will be at WDW for 10 nights/11 days starting on 1/16- looking forward to another wonderful January trip!

My family and I will be there at the same time. I sure hope for good weather. I have little ones. Should I not bother with shorts etc and just bring jeans/ t-shirts w sweatshirts to put on at night?? TY

What I'm doing, is wearing just a long sleeve tee, that I made for each of us :) and having the kids take a hoodie or a jacket to tie around their waste. I'm not sure how the weather will be, we're just going over for the one day on the 16th to take advantage of the birthday stuff, but last year the high was in the 50s with a whipping wind! I'm local, so I got that "florida" blood in me, so anything below 70 and I freeze!! Now, yesterday here was a perfect day, which is what i'm hoping for, high 71, light breeze, and not too cold in the evenings, but, since i"m hoping for that, it'll either be 80's or 50's! Knowing my luck LOL January weather is VERY unpredictable, so just go, and enjoy!!

i was wondering about this too. I tend to get cold when it's below 70. so i guess is jeans for me!

We bring a little of everything! Our last January trip, in 2007, was all over the place, weather-wise. We wore shorts and T's for the first 4 days of the week, and were able to swim without being the least bit chilly. Highs were in the low 80's then, but the last 3 days, we shivered in fleece hoodies and long pants in the mornings. It was downright cold in the mornings and evenings, especially with the wind! During the warmest part of the day, it got up to about 60.

We are going to pack the following for our 10 night/11 day trip coming up in less than 2 weeks:

2 shorts
5 capris
3 long pants
7 short sleeved T's
3 long sleeved T's
lightweight hoodies
heavier weight hoodies
water resistant windbreaker jackets

We plan on layering like crazy, and bring a backpack to carry the extra clothes we take off as the day gets warmer. Winter in FL is crazy- the temps can swing wildly over the course of a few days, so we just make sure we're prepared for anything! :)

The extended forecast shows that the current highs in the 70s will be dropping down to the 60s for the week before MLK weekend, then it looks like they start creeping back up that following week.
