I am Angie, I used to post here long ago as CottontailCurl because we are tent campers and the 1500 loop was our home. I stopped posting while my husband was deployed several years ago and somehow got out of the Disney and FW swing of things (so weird for a Disney Freak!). I couldn't remember my password so came up with a new username that I wish I hadn't chosen (Our baby is starting college in a couple weeks and the '4two' reflects our new empty nest status). Can I edit it? Also - do I remain pictureless until I do something special on the board - I can't find a way to upload a picture for my account.

We have reservations for December for (hopefully) Cottontail Curl to celebrate our kids and the last one graduating high school, any of them (there are 4) who can make it is invited and (new to us) boyfriends and girlfriends can come, too. I almost fell on the floor when I made the reservation and was quoted $108 a night because the 2nd week in December was the sweetest time to camp 'back in the day' when I could get a AAA rate for $35. My parents were supposed to come, too, but my Mother passed away several weeks ago and to say my heart is broken would be an understatement. She was the original Disney Freak, watching Mickey Mouse Club with us (Annette!) and taking us the first time in 1976 when ticket books were the thing and Main Street Electrical Parade was brand spanking new. I can't even imagine what this trip will be like, I can't hardly even type it. Thankfully my parents realized their dream and bought a Class A in their retirement and traveled all over and wintered and Annual Passed near LBV the past several years. If you've ever camped in the 800 loop you could have been their neighbor, it was their favorite.

So, that's me. Thanks for reading. I've never had a sad Disney trip so before I go on this one will have to play the Glad Game like crazy.

:disrocks:Angie, Welcome Back to the DIS and the Fort! :welcome:

Yes, the rates are high nowadays. It's made a change in the way we visit the Fort. Our last kid at home will be a senior in high school so I am headed toward empty-nester-ville too. I like 1500 best too but if I don't get it then I'm stuck in 2000 which is not preferable. That uncertainty has driven me to go with Preferred sites (100-200) down by the lake. I had a popup for 10 years but changed over to a hard-sided folding trailer (Aliner) last year.

Pictures can now be directly uploaded to the DIS using the middle button (Upload a File) down on the bottom right below the text input box here. We got some new forum software this past spring that has changed some things around. When you choose the picture and upload it, you have the option (before finishing your text input and posting it) to leave it as a thumbnail (small) or full size (bigger or whatever the term is). Choose the full size. The old ways of using Picasa (saw you use that in another post) and Photobucket (what I use) still work but now the direct upload option is available which is more simple to use.

Good luck with your planning!

Thank you for your welcome back, Ed. We could have been loopmates at some time if you camped in Cottontail Curl with your pop-up. My husband might have even timed you as you set up to compare with how long it took us and our tent set-up ('they're finished in 10 minutes!!'). We always talked about getting a pop-up but never did, now we're debating what to do in this next phase. Travel is high on my to-do list and I was day-dreaming about Teardrops and those kind of trailers recently.

Thanks for info about uploading pictures, I'll see if I can make that work for my profile picture.

Welcome back!
So sorry for your loss. Maybe by December you will be able to remember the fun your mother had at the parks. I'm sure she would want you to enjoy yourself.
I'm old enough to remember the ticket books but that was at Disneyland.

Hi Angie, I joined right about the time you left. I am glad your hubby is back home. So sorry for your loss. I hope your visit in December is magical.

Thank you Kathy, I guess I will have to make sure to have as much fun for her as I can! Thank you also for your thoughts about my husband, Denise. I'm glad too and thankful.

I just re-read my post up there and have to mention that my Mom would be the first to correct me and say that MSEP wasn't there on our first trip in '76 and I'm probably mixing up a memory of the eagle and flag float from the afternoon bicentennial parade and the eagle and flag float that ended the MSEP when we saw it later in the 70s.

Welcome back, glad you are here!

Welcome back! So sorry for your loss...may the happy memories flood your heart

Welcome back to DIS, Angie.

Sorry to hear about your mom. My mom was the family "travel agent" too. I lost her 5 years ago. Thankfully she passed the travel gene on to me and I picked up for her when she got sick. Lots of memories.

The Fort has changed quite a bit since its early days, but there is still a lot of the original there. Plus much more.

Thank you Kristin and Richard! Thanks for your sweet thoughts, J (Teamubr), I appreciate them. The love of camping comes from my Mom, too. Well, there's not much in our lives that doesn't have her signature on it. I'm sorry about your Mom, too.

Angie, I guess the title of "Family Disney Fan" passes on now to you from your mom.
