I'm wanting to get a few ceramic items, like the Mickey storage jars (3 of them) and the dinner set, maybe another cutlery set! all the baubles I can carry, Plus all the monster high my DD10 can carry. :rotfl2:

So, how would you carry these home?
We are fine for baggage on the return we have 2 cases each of 23kilo and we have a cabin size trolley case. 2 of our big cases are the hard ones and the 2 smaller are fabric.

I was thinking of putting the storage jars in the hand luggage but not sure if this would be allowed, would it be classed as a hazardous item, meaning I could smash it and use it as a weapon (not that I am going to !!)

Or should I just get Disney to wrap them well and put them in the middle of all our clothes?

Thanks for any ideas.

I don't think the storage jars will be an issue. It could be argued that anything breakable could be 'used as a weapon' Not something that's ever occurred to me but the airlines do recommend that anything fragile or breakable is carried in your hand luggage as they are not liable for damage or breakage to fragile items in the hold.

Still, ask Disney to wrap them for you and explain that you are flying. They really wrap their breakables well. I wouldn't want to put anything that is not boxed into hold luggage if I could avoid it, although I have always brought back wrapped coffee mugs and never had anything break

We have bought home Christmas tree decorations before. They pack them really well and I then put them in the case in the middle of our clothes.

Will be bringing some more home in December :thumbsup2

Security may ask you to unwrap the items that are protected wrap to inspect them. Happened to me once, but other than that you should be able to carry them on.

We bought 4 baubles home in our check in luggage and they were fine. Like previous poster said they wrap them sooooo well!

I personally wouldn't put some thing like that in my hand luggage just because I get fed of lugging it around. I wrap anything I am really worried about in our towels for extra padding x

We always bring back ceramics of some sorts either figurines or mugs etc. I always take a couple of carry on cases with me and use them to bring home breakables in hand luggage

We bought loads of cutlery home (I think you would have to), but always in the cases in the hold. We've even bought glasses home (drinking glasses) in the cases and they've arrived in tact, but we do have hard shell cases.

We brought back several mugs this time and Disney staff wrapped them in some kind of shredded paper and we put them into a padded cooler bag we got at walmart. This then went into the Disney shopping bag we bought on one of their offers if you spend over xx amount of money. No problem at all with it as hand luggage and no one asked us to look at any part of it. It stayed on the floor of the plane under the seat in front of me. I wouldn't have risked putting these in the cases. Our WDW Game of Life and Clue survived in the case, although the TSA had been in that one.

Reading this has made me laugh at the remembering the stuff we've brought home in the past. One year we bought a wii and the rock band set!! yes the drum kit, guitar etc...:rotfl: I can still see the bed now before I started packing and that was without everyone's xmas presents. If you can fit the stuff in your case I would put them in there to save carrying them.

I brought back 3 large mugs wrapped in my hand luggage and they were fine. Wasn't asked to open or show them at any point

Last visit I brought home three large Yankee Candles home in my hand luggage without any trouble whatsoever.
