~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

I love your determination!! Keep up the good work, my friend.

So glad you arm isn't broken, Maroo! And goooooo You! with your training plans.. the trip is coming so fast!!!

GO MAROO! :woohoo:GO MAROO!:woohoo:

Happy to hear the news!!!!

When I first learned how to snowboard, I fell and landed on my arm. I though I broke it but it was just bruised really bad. Half of my arm was black, blue, and yellow. I couldn't use it for a few weeks. It doesn't sound like your arm is as bad as mine was.... and that's a good thing!!! :goodvibes

I am totally going to post a picture of my arm tonight.

It sounds just like that...black, blue and yellow. Yuck! And hurts. Good grief! HA!

Glad your arm is not broken! Don't be too tough on yourself - you are doing great! And whatever time you do and however long you can do will be great because it will be the best you can do at that given point in time.

Thank you!

Glad to hear that you didn't break your arm! Bundle up out there in the cold. :)

I seriously bundled up! More on that in a sec!

I love your determination!! Keep up the good work, my friend.

Thanks! :)

OH BOY! :sad2::sad2:

Geez.... That doesn't sound good.

Can't wait to see the pic. popcorn::

Okay, I am all caught up....again.

Glad you are feeling better, glad your arm is not broken and :woohoo: on the miles you have done.

You will do great in the 1/2, I just know you will. I enjoyed January so much that I wish I could do the Princess. Maybe next year........

Try two pairs of socks when it is cold. One thin pair and a thicker pair. I have arthritis in my feet and this works for me.

First...an update!

On my training!

I had a GREAT training today. My pace is up to 17:00 min miles for the first 1.5 miles of my walk - but this was on the street that has a BUNCH of potholes...so I moved back to my condo complex (we have a great street) and my time went up to right at 16:00 min miles!!

My challenge right now is my feet. At about 4 miles I start getting blister problems. I could push through it, but I don't want to make them worse and not be able to race...so I am trying to get them healed up. I went to the shoe store again today and they have some suggestions (different socks, etc) and I am going to work on that tomorrow and Friday. This weekend is my 9 mile walk - and I feel ready!!! :)

Now...my arm.

Pics. Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of your ARM????

I really tried to include a picture to give you an idea and NOT include my arm flab. I don't think I succeeded. But, oh well. We are all friends here, right?

The snow we got was one of those once in a decade snow events...so I have pics...It didn't really cover all of the streets for some reason, guess the ground was not cold enough. But we got about 5 inches on the grass!

Muffin was NOT impressed! She would not even LOOK at me when I was taking her picture...like she was mad. What on earth is THIS? Cold, wet...not her cup of tea. And yes, she is wearing a sweater.

The bad news is that I lost my favorite tree. I walk Muffin around this tree every single day and there are always a few bird nests in it...and it is in shambles. They are going to have to cut it completely down.

I cried. Really. Over a stupid tree.

I can't imagine people that lose their homes or a city block from a disaster. It was just a tree...

So sad. :sad1:

OUCH!! That's awful! Those blisters will get you every time.

:lmao:

HA! Just kidding, I was talking about your arm. And by the way, I think our Arm Flabbies are going to get along great. Just think, they could be our weapons of mass destruction!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was sad to see your tree go too. They cut trees down left and right here, when there really aren't enough in the first place. I've really learned to appreciate trees and nature in general more here!

You did a number on your arm. Looks painful!!!!!!

Thanks for the pix though.... same colors as when I messed up my arm. :hippie:

Maroo: go to a running store and purchase the following:

1) wicking socks
2) Body Glide (looks like a stick of deodorant) put it all over your feet.

That should solve your blister problems.

Good Luck! :thumbsup2

I am so glad to hear that your arm is not broken, but I am sad to see how bruised it is. The 16 minute miles sound great! Keep up the great workouts!:grouphug:

I already have both of those. I love the body glide!

I have actually tried 3 different kinds of sport wicking socks and I am now on the 4th kind of sock. I started with thicker socks, which helped provide a bit more cushion, but also bunched up and caused blisters at about the 3rd mile.

Then I got some thin ones, but they ended up being too big. So then I tried a smaller size, but they were rubbing my feet and making them REALLY hot.

Now I am trying a drymax sock that is supposed to provide some arch support and fit more snuggly - so hopefully that will do the trick.

Now I am just balancing between needing to get out there and work and needing to stay off the blisters I have. Right now I am using good blister bandaids and planning a "quick speed walk" today - maybe just a mile and a half, but FAST as I can. And then see if I can get my 9 miler in tomorrow afternoon. If I can't, I still have Saturday to do it!

Yeah...I never really appreciated that tree. Although, I guess I did, since I was always watching the birds in it...it was really cool how I could reach out and touch the nest (not that I did, I just could have, they were that close.) And I could check on the little birds and watched them all hatch.

Now their home is gone. :(

Yep! When you described yours I laughed...same colors as mine! Seems more yellow today, but it is really hot!

Me too! That probably would have messed up my training. The doctor said if I had broken that bone, it would probably have required pins and such to fix it...right there at the elbow is not a good bone to break.

Whooo girlie..that is some bruise! I'll be curious to see how it looks in..2 weeks!! party:
Yuck to blisters..I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new socks will do the trick. I took my "park sneakers" to the hospital and got them well broken in, so hopefully I won't be dealing with those issues, but if I am, I know who to call!

Yikes is all I have to say about that arm! Thank goodness it wasn't broken!

You and Liesa really are a good match obsessing about arm flab. I think we may need some arm flab shots at WDW just cause Liesa talks about it all of the time.

Glad you have body glide - Jason swears by that stuff! Hopefully the new socks will do the trick. I think you are doing great with your training!

That Muffin is so cute and sassy! Jordan still bugs me to print a photo of her and Muffin for her to hang in her room. Dealing with photos from the last 8 months is on my immediate to do list!

I can not believe it is almost 2 weeks until we actually meet in person!!! :) Woo Hoo!!!

I hope, hope, hope I have a medal around my neck! :faint:

I am very glad it was not broken, too!

Liesa and I are quite a pair. I can't wait to tell the stories from our big trip - I bet there will be PLENTY!

Thanks for the training compliments! I hope it pays off!!!

Muffin IS so sassy! You definitely gotta print that photo off for sweet Jordan! How could anyone ever say No to that sweet face? :)

I am so discouraged.

I was able to get 6.2 miles in today...but I am still so slow. I am walking fast enough, but I stopped three different times - twice to try to fix my shoes (more to follow about that) and once to go to the restroom.

I am pretty sure I am over hydrating? Maybe? Because I almost always have to go around mile 4.

My shoes.

I love my shoes - they were specifically fit to my feet. They are wide enough and don't hurt if my feet get swollen...but I have these blisters that will just not go away!

And I am not sure whether to just keep training through the pain of the blisters (which I can) or to stop so that they can get better by the time of the race?

I need to get FASTER...and I need to get out there and work...but I am not sure how far to push it.

I felt pretty crummy today quitting before my goal of 9 miles. I really, really wanted to hit 9 miles!!!! I really am not getting too tired...but I have to get faster, maybe jog some?, and to do that I really need to get these blisters healed up!

 Don't be so hard on yourself. Maybe give your blisters a few days to heal and see what happens? Whatever you do in the princess half and however long it takes will still be great!
