How to use APH?

Hi -
I'm new at this and trying to figure out how the APH benefits work exactly. It's a little confusing from the Universal site, so any help you can provide would be such a relief!

If I get a regular non-APH package through the website, I understand that I get some privileges, like getting into the park an hour early, FOTL privileges, a breakfast reservation for Three Broomsticks, etc.

If I were to buy a non-Florida Annual Pass, how does that work?
- Do I get the middle (Preferred) level of APH - that does get me the hotel discount, right?
- Then if I hold the APH for myself (adult), then I can buy a multi-day pass for both my kids at a 15% discount? But do I have to buy them only at the gate that day?
- And do I understand right that the way it works is that I book the hotel room separately - so not a package? Because when I do "APH" as the promotion code within packages, there is no difference, but if I do "APH" in the room-only quote, I get some discounted options.
- If I do book APH room-only and buy the tickets separately, do I get any privileges like the early hours and the FOTL pass?
- Is it always changing what APH rooms and rates are available? Right now there is an APH rate for the hotel I want (RPH), but it is only for a king suite, not for the 2-bed room. I might still get it because the king suite APH rate is cheaper than the 2-qu standard rate with no annual pass.

Thank you for any help you might be able to give!

Staying onsite is what gives you the special Express Pass (what you're calling FOTL) and Early Entry to WWoHP. It isn't the package itself.

And whenever I have priced things out, the packages are THE most expensive way to go. NOw with the Harry Potter package you do get the breakfast, but...it's still the most expensive AND you have the cost of the breakfast tacked onto the package, too.

So you just go to the Loews website, find the Universal hotel you want, put APH into the code box, and if it shows you APH results, then they have APH rooms available!

If the price is good and you want the room, book it. Yes they can change (and quickly).

And yes the 15% discount on tickets is for purchases at the gate.

I'll try to answer some of your questions....

1.) The Preferred AP is all you'd need to take advantage of the discounts...at the hotels and the parks.

2.) You can purchase additional multi-day tickets with an activated AP for 15% off the gate price. These tickets would need to be purchased at the gate.

3.) I've never stayed onsite but I understand it's cheaper to buy the tickets separately from the hotel room.

4.) Every oniste guest receives unlimited Express access and early entry to WWoHP regardless of where the tickets were purchased.

Hope that helps. Someone who has more experience with the onsite resorts will come along and help you with the other questions.

1. anyone can buy a package.
if you stay onsite or at a preferred offsite hotel, it has to be an universal package to gain early admittance to the park.

2. anyone can buy the annual pass. floridians can get different discounts than the ones that don't live in florida.

3. three levels of annual passes.
power -preferred- premiere
the UO website will explain the amenities for each one.

4. book the room only with the ap. there are discounts.
it is cheaper to book each needed item separately.
call and talk to a TM for advise on the discounts for packages, if available.

5. you stay on site/you stay with a package offsite, you get early entrance to the park.
only if you stay onsite do you get to use express lines unlimitedly.

6. when i am going, there are no ap discounts on rooms at rph except the king suite.
the ap rates for regular rooms are already sold out.
only a % of rooms are allowed at the hotel, after that, no ap discounts.

you would need to try another hotel or another discount such as mil, aaa, etc. if you want the ap discount for a specific type of room.

at rph, it doesn't mean there are no rooms available, only none with the ap rate for the dates you have put in for.
