How to pronounce ROFR?

Working for the military, I deal with dozens of acronyms every day. Some are so common place in our vernacular that I couldn't even tell you what they stand for.

However, even with that said, when I see ROFR, I always read it as "right of first refusal." It never even occurred to me to pronounce it as a word.

For what it's worth, I'm a corporate attorney who deals with ROFR's fairly regularly, and I have never heard it pronounced as anything other than "row-fur" .

Maybe that's just a Canadian thing...

And then there are some that will consider it a bad word, and not want any of it pronounced! LOL

But seriously, i always looked at it and thought Right of First Refusal.

Some of you guys try to pronounce the acronym as opposed to saying it? Really?

To me, the acronyms are to cut typing time online, though there are certainly some that I pronounce as well, I guess. I just never even considered a way to pronounce "ROFR."

Thanks to some speed reading courses, I try not to pronounce at all when reading, so I found the variety of answers quite interesting!

I always try to say the word in my head and believe that the acronyms make for quicker typing....until I got addicted to the DIS and now think in Dis on a regular basis and the have to stop mid sentence and sound it all out when talking to DH.

If DH were a Disser anytime we talked about WDW I would speak Dis...Hey we are eating at W_C_C before leaving W_L for M_K when M_N_S_S_H_P starts.

So to answer...I spell it ROFR, Think "Right of First Refusal", then speak "R_O_F_R". I have wayyyy too much time today.

I really, really don't want to come off sounding condescending when I say this, but please trust me when I tell you that in business and legal transactions, 99 times out of 100, it will be referred to as a "row-fur". In addition to being faster, this pronounciation allows you to use the acronym in multiple contexts, e.g. "Disney has a ROFR (row-fur) on my points", or "Sorry - I wanted to sell you my points, but I was just ROFR'D (row-furred) by Disney". You wouldn't say " Sorry - I wanted to sell you my points, but I was just right of first refusal'd by Disney".

Again, just my two cents worth...
