How to prepare youngest for firework

We are returning for the now(last three years) pilgrimage to WDW.
Hopefully POR or CS then switch to WL.

Last year my youngest daughter(3) was petrified of the fireworks.
Any suggestions that might desensitize her. I think the noise is the biggest factor in her being scared is there an area anyone would suggest where noise might be minimized. Last time I took my oldest most nights and my wife cut out early with the young one.

Anybody have this problem and figured out a way to overcome between trips?

Just desensitize them by screaming at them alot

Just kidding, I think my parents screamed at me for other reasons than just fireworks preperation.

I think if you got them some nice (the higher rated ones) earplugs, it would help alot.

My little ones can't take the noise either, especially Illuminations. Some of the shows are a little loud for them too, Philharmagic was one. We just bought those soft earplugs, and they were fine!!!

I don't have children, but I've read from other posters here on the DIS that some parents bring along headphones with the child's favorite music (especially Disney), and put the headphones on the child BEFORE the fireworks start. Yes, they miss the narrative from Jiminy Cricket (or Mickey or Peter Pan... can't remember which one talks), but they don't hear the loud booms. This also works by sitting further back so they can't feel the reverberations in their body by sitting up close. Maybe you could even find the soundtrack of Wishes so they can hear the music during the fireworks, so they don't miss out on the words. Hope this helps.

Yeah, well, good luck with that. My DD12 only got used to fireworks 4yrs ago and my 10yr still can't stand them. Not only can't stand them,but MUST RUN AWAY. We have given up on fireworks

Maybe find a viewing place that's a bit farther away.

DD6 is terrified of fireworks also. We tried to leave the MK one night before they started. We made it all the way to the monorail, but apparently the monorail doesn't run during the fireworks (anyone know why?). So we sat in the monorail with the doors open during Wishes. DD actually enjoyed it from this distance. You could still hear the booms, but they weren't as loud. We couldn't see everything, but we could see enough. She enjoyed it so much that she wants to try to view them closer next time.

Many thanks. I will try bringing the earplugs but i am sure my daughter will resist. I think I will bring my ipod on trip and will get a set of heaphones, maybe that will work.
And I guess we will try to watch near the exit.
Her first and only show was the Epcot show and we had walk all the way around the lake with her in tears, I felt so bad. I just didn't know, but if you have a young one and are not sure if she would like fireworks, I highly recomend to stay away from countries like Italy to view the fireworks.

The best way is to shoot fireworks off a lot at home throughout the year. My kids are 5 and 2 and are always asking me to blow up some fire crackers and bottle rockets that I always have around. I blow up a few once a month usually. The kids get really excited. The neighbors have never complained so we have a little fun with it.

That was going to be my suggestion. If you stand out on the beach or the little point, you get a great view without the booming sounds. My dd hated loud noises, still does, and this worked out quite well. She is 12 now and still won't go on Dinosaur because of the noisiness!!!

New York State kinda discourages that.
Maybe we will change our trip order and do WL first are the fireworks good at WL Beach. We stayed last year but did not really see the fireworks from the hotel.

Seeing the fireworks at WL are sketchy. You could try the GF boat dock. Watched them from there last year and they were wonderful.

My DD 4.5 and DS 6 dislike the load noises. Sometimes they are OK watching them, and sometimes they are not. It may have to do with how tired they are.

What I have done is.......

Tell my son about the fireworks. Assure him that I will hold him. Tell him that if he thinks it is too loud for him, to cover his ears with his hands. The last fireworks we saw, he sat on my lap, and I was able to cover his ears with my hands. I don't know if this stopped more noise, but he liked this better.
I try to view the fireworks from a location where I can quickly duck into a store or shop. I tell my son that if it is to "scarry" for him, I will cary him into that store, and wait with him till they are over. I have never had to do this, but it made him feel better.
