how to pack for april 12th-16th?

i like when i go during the summer months as i know it will be HOT HOT HOT so i know to pack shorts and tees.

i've never been in april.

what type of clothing should i be packing?

shorts, tees, sundresses, and a hoodie?

or jeans, tees, a hoodie, and a warmer coat?

or a mixture?

We were there in 2011 those exact dates, and one day it was super HOT (wasn't expecting that), ended up buying fan misters, but others were saying that was unusually hot for that time of year. The rest of the week was hot, but not too much. Shorts and swimming weather everyday. We took a night time pirate cruise and wore shorts. Every evening was pleasant. Think mid to high 80's for the average (our hot day ended up being like 95). Of course it seemed at the time, locals we were talking to told us it was unusually hot while we were there, so not sure if that is the norm...

Now I'm trying to figure out how much different our March trip will be for weather

I'd pack mostly shorts and hot weather clothing, with maybe a hoodie or some jeans thrown in there depending on the forecast. We bring a hoodie and a poncho no matter what the forecast says anyways.

We were there those days last year. I usually wore shorts and tanktops but put on a sweatshirt after it rained or sometimes after dark. Highs were around 80, and lows were around 60. It's really awesome weather, actually. My comfiest outfit was a maxi dress with a cardigan. I tied the dress into a knot at the hem during the day and left it full length and wore the cardigan at night.

I've been every year since 2004 in the last bit of April/early may. I brought sandals and sundresses and crap load of sunscreen and was always perfect. I do travel with cardigans for flights and I've worn them on 2 occasions for dinners due to the ac! Otherwise, I would have been perfect...it's pretty much summer in Orlando in April so enjoy!

We went last year about a week earlier than those dates. It was 80s pretty much all week but a couple mornings were a little chilly so I was glad my kids had sweatshirts. This year we are going those exact same dates as you. We will prolly be packing mostly shorts with a sweatshirt just incase we need it.

I've gone several times late March-early April. The best answer I can give you would be to check the 10 day forecast before you leave to get a good idea, as it can vary.

My experience has been that t-shirt and shorts is generally good during the day, although a little cool early -- to me, its easier to put up with than carry a jacket/sweatshirt around the rest of the day. It often cools off a bit at night, so a sweatshirt feels good, but shorts still OK. Typically, I'll fly down and home in jeans, hoping to never use them while I'm there. Also, the afternoon showers aren't as frequent that time of year, but they do happen, so be ready for that.

I've done a mixture of clothes when I go in April. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's chilly.

Most times I think it's been chilly in the morning, hot in afternoon, chilly at night. Kind of reminded me of early November.

I usually bring one pair of jeans just in case, a couple of pair of capri's and shorts. Plus my hoodie, tshirts and a few tank tops.

You are asking a very subjective question. In addition, it depends on where you are from and what sort of temperature you can tolerate.

It could be standing right next to you, and wearing something completely different. Your signature says you are from Buffalo, so you would tolerate the cold/chill a bit better than someone like me from the south.

Only you know what works for you, but overall for Florida any time of the year except the summer months, it is best to layer.

well i'm from the buffalo ny area so in april its generally chilly if not down right cold with snow.
and obviously i understand that temps will vary from year to year but i figured i could get a decent idea of what to pack based on others that have had previous experience going during that time.
i will definitely be checking the forests from the local stations (i like WESH) but i'm the type of person that as soon as i have my dates i like to decide what i'm wearing and sort of have a "practice pack" or two to ensure its really what i want to bring.
in the summer/first half of fall its easy cuz i know i'll be wearing shorts.
in the second half of fall/winter its easy cuz i know i'll have to bring a variety.
i've never been in the spring so i'm not sure what to expect.

For us Buffalonians, it'll feel like we are on the surface of the sun compared to these -20 degree wind chills we have been dealing with lately.

I was down there for a quick 3 days in April of last year and it was HOT compared to what it was like up here at that time. Definitely shorts and t-shirt weather. I'd pack a light hoodie in case some early mornings or at night feel a bit chilly, but trust me compared to the temps up here, it'll be fantastic.

I'm not a Disney expert, but I have lived here in Central Florida for 38 years. April weather is pleasant and really kind of in between Spring and Summer as far as temperature ranges go.

Mornings are nice. I wouldn't say they are chilly, but they are comfortable. If you get cool easily, a light jacket would work. When the sun starts to come up and really make its presence felt around 10am though, it typically warms up pretty fast and you will be shedding that jacket. Short sleeves and shorts or a sundress should be fine after that. 11am until 3pm is the hottest part of the day; it's usually around 82-86 for the high temperatures in April. Sometimes lower or higher if there's a front that came through, but rarely much more extreme than a few degrees here and there. Nights like mornings are pleasant. After the sun goes down there is still a touch of humidity, but nowhere near as bad as it will be in July or August. Unless a system is coming through, rain chances are usually around 20-30 percent on any given day in April in Central Florida. Nighttime is fine for shorts and tshirts; again though if you are prone to getting chilly, then a light jacket or pullover will work. Enjoy it !!! Because about 6 weeks after April is gone, it will be hot as blazes down here !

In fact, I had planned for us to take an afternoon pool break daily (we are used to Aug/Sept trips where this is essential) and my kids wanted to stay in the parks and not want to do the pool (so as you can tell it was a comfortable temperature). Typically at this time of the year I wouldnt swim in FL unless it was in a heated pool too. And trust me its cold where I am today. Many degrees below zero this AM.

You can plan all you want now but you still have to wait until a few days before you go to finalize. We have been down in late March / early April 2x now for spring break. The first year it was pretty chilly. We attempted the pool 1 day but it was too cold for anything other than the hot tub for me. The last time we went it was super hot most of the time we were there. Like freakishly WAAAY above average hot (90ish). LOVED it!!

Personally (and realistically) I need air temps to be around 78 or so to feel like going to the pool for very long. Otherwise I am just tanning my goose bumps. If predicted temps are going to be 70's/80ish in the daytime then that probably means lower 60's at night so I will pack (wear) a pair of jeans & bring a couple pair of convertible pants that roll up & fasten into capris + a couple pair of shorts & a couple pair of capris and 1 or 2 bathing suits. I will also bring a light jacket and / or hoodie or fleece for the evenings. We try very hard to fly in carry-ons as much as possible so all bottoms have to do double duty. Obviously if the prediction is for higher than normal temps then I will bring more shorts and skip the heavier stuff.

My DS has decided to go to RIT next year which isn't TOO far from you so I'm guessing you would recommend that I get him one of those heavy duty LL Bean parkas or a puffy down coat or something?!

well the last couple of years have been waaaaaaay colder than i've ever seen.
generally its not this cold.
your son definitely should have a winter coat, hat, and gloves but unless he's gonna be outside for long periods of time you don't need to buy some $500 -50*F coat lol.

He has a new Spyder ski jacket that although is not real heavy he says is pretty warm….I know they have tunnels from the dorms to some places (laundry, store, PO) but they don't connect to the academic buildings. I'm guessing he could have a 1/4 - 1/2 mile walk to classes. That seems pretty far when it's THAAAT cold. I am watching the LL Bean site for sales…undecided yet about it...
