How to make an easy tutu and hair bows~updated!

I saw some pictures where they had these bows attached to flip flops SO CUTE! But I am not crafty and was wondering if anyone here had an idea of HOW to attach them to the flip flops?

Thanks so much for posting this it is WONDERFUL information!!!!!:thumbsup2

I got them at Sally's Beauty supply along with the alligator clips for the back.

I understand you attach toddler bows to alligator clips. Are those sold at Sally's beauty supply?

What about for a little older child what type of clips do you use?

How do you attach them to the clips?

I know this must be basic but I'm just not getting it! :confused3

TIA

Beautiful!!! I love all the ideas and designs. :lovestruc Great step by step directions with pics!! I showed my girls (ages 7, 5, 3) the pics of all the beautiful tutus / bows and they loved everything!! I am definitely going to try this. Thanks again for sharing your creativity with us!

I made the tutu attached to the ribbon. I bought four yards and attached the strips but I must have put them too close or something because it didn't make enough to go around DGD! Also, it looks too short! Any ideas on what I might have done wrong?

Any ideas? The tulle was 1/2 the width on the bolt (after you tied the knot) so each stip was about 22-23 inches long as the tulle was 45 inches wide. I tied the tulle close enough together onthe ribbon so that the ribbon didn't show through. This is for a 4 year old.

The tutu's and the bows are soooooo cute! Thanks for all of the information on how to make all of them. I will be making some for our trip in December.

Just saw a fancy hoity-toity kids boutique that sells these tutus almost exclusively...and now I can make them myself! Woo-hoo! And a great big thanks to the originators of this thread!!! :thumbsup2

Isn't that a great feeling!? :)

My thanks to the originators and contributors too!

This is great!! I can't wait to buy some ribbon and get started!!! I may actually be able to make my first crafty item!! I have always felt "craft impaired"! LOL

I just finished three sets of bows for my granddaughter and they are beautiful. I wanted to thank you guys for these instructions and the encouragement to make these. She will be lovely on Easter morning with these in her hair.:)

I love this. My daughter has requested I make her a tinkerbelle outfit, so I think I may attempt making a tutu as a skirt and than dressing up a tank top for the top.

Thanks!
Erin

Linda...you should sell this as an E-book! It really makes ribbon mking look simpler! That Minnie ribbon is darling!

Being as OCD as I am, I just spent a few hours cutting and pasting this all into a word document so I can print it and have it all together. I have a binder with different craft directions in it, so I can pull it out to reference when I need it. A bit overboard, I know, but I didn't want to have to wade through 15 pages of posts to find how to do something. :rotfl: I can email it to people if they want a copy.

Now I need to go back through and do the same thing for the tutu's, but I'll save that for another day. My eyes are killing me!

ETA: Ladies - my computer has crashed and I no longer have access to the word document. Sorry!!

I really did it..LOL! I made my daughter a couple of bows already and she put one on her best friends birthday gift! They play soccer together so they are soccer themed. They may not be the best bows, but I'm learning!

OMG! I think I've found a new obsession...bow and tutu making! I can't wait to try them!
