how to go about with my proposal

So I finally asked my girlfriends parents if I could ask her to marry me and they gave me their blessing. I told them that I want to propose at Disney world after I run the half marathon in January. But my only problem is that I don't want to do some ordinary proposal that everyone does. I don't really want to ask her at dinner or something that's been done a lot.

She had leukemia a few years back but has been in remission for a few years. She went to Disney with special wishes when she had cancer so this trip means a lot to her. She has no clue that I am even going to ask her. So I want this to be like the best thing that could happen to her. That is where my issue is.

She loves the little mermaid (we are staying at art of animation in a little mermaid room) and jasmine from Aladdin.

What would you guys and gals recommend?

You could propose to her near the new Ariel ride at MK or during a princess breakfast? My fiancé proposed in the Rose Garden because my favorite thing is the castle. The best thing my fiancé did was make sure there was a Photopass photographer there. The whole thing was caught on camera! I would suggest that as a tip, at least.

Did she have a special memory from her trip before?

We saw a proposal at CRT in December.... It was so beautiful. The boyfriend must have made arrangements prior because they did it before the princesses made it to their table. There was also a Photopass photographer who must have taken a million pictures! The girl said yes, everyone clapped and wished them well... Then my favorite part, overhearing all the princesses gawk over her and the new engagement. The had a seat right next to the window- and as an onlooker it seemed absolutely perfect :)

Does Disneyworld have the Little Mermaid ride? If so, then I would suggest going on that ride (I love that ride) and then when you get near the end (hopefully it's the same as Disneylands) you can either bring the ring out at the "Kiss the Girl" part or at the very end where it shows Ariel and Prince Eric in their wedding attire. Good luck and let us know how you decided to do it.

Thanks. This is some help. I'm just super nervous about the whole thing, you know? Lol I got a while to figure it out but I like being super prepared for the while thing. The only issue is that online pages haven't been much help so I came here.

As far as favorite memory, I don't know. She really wants to go to magic kingdom (she made a point of saying that's where she wants to go) and kona café at the Polynesian. That is all I got out of her so far for this trip. I don't even get to go to Epcot at all lol at least I get to go to animal kingdom

I'm sure whatever you plan will be perfect!! Good luck! :)

What about at the new Ariel meet and greet? Ariel is in her fins and there is a photo pass person there that could catch the whole thing.

For yet another Little Mermaid-themed proposal in the Magic Kingdom, I've heard an idea before that I think is pretty cute.

During the 3D short film, Mickey's PhilharMagic, there's a scene in which Ariel is singing and 3D gemstones "fly" at you. You can pretend to "catch" one and then turn to your girlfriend with the ring.

If you want to do something a little more subtle, I always like the idea of proposing RIGHT at the beginning of your vacation. When you check in to your resort, the desk clerk will ask you if you're celebrating anything. You can wait for her to start to answer, and then interrupt with, "Well, actually ...", then present the ring and propose to her right there in the lobby. The check-in clerk will give you "Just Engaged" buttons to wear right there on the spot.

My fiance proposed to me during the Kiss the Girl scene at DCA last month!!! We were coming up on the Kiss the Girl scene, and he asked if I would cry during the wedding, and thinking he was talking about the wedding scene in the ride (although not knowing it was there) I was like uuhh, I dunno? And then he said "I wanna kiss the girl!" So I turned around and gave him a smooch, and turned back to the ride. Then I hear him saying "Will you marry me?" and turn around to see him holding a ring!!!

He told me later that he had considered his options greatly (his second choice was WOC - but he said he wanted a chance to actually WATCH the show [instead of dealing with me freaking out!] since we only had one day in DCA, so he decided against WOC) and once he decided on the Ariel ride he watched a video of the ride on youtube to decide where in the ride to do it.

we ended up riding it again later in the day because I did not catch the wedding scene (or most of the KtG scene, really) because I was freaking out and crying!

That's actually tempting lol she would never expect it at all. But I think I would want pictures or something.

A little mermaid meet and greet could be interesting. Of I could somehow get her to hold the ring and be like"look at this human thing I found" and she could hand it to me and I could propose. Hmmmm I just would have to figure out how to go about doing it. Where is the meet and greet located? Like, what park

There is Ariel's Grotto back behind the new LM ride in the Magic Kingdom.

Ok. so after some sneaking, i was able to find out that she loves jasmine more than anything. so that kind of changes the whole ariel plan i had. d'oh!

so, does jasmine have a meet and greet somewhere? we are planning on doing animal kingdom and magic kingdom. i hope she's at one of those. i am really leaning towards doing it at the meet and greet and trying to make it a show or something. i'm getting ideas but nothing solidified just yet

Just as a heads up if you let Disney know ahead of time they may tell you no about the Characters. I know at some point characters were not allowed to be involved with engagements in case the person said No.

Oh just so you know Jasmine meets in MK in Adventureland close to the Magic Carpets.

oh man. well, luckily my gf and i have talked about getting married already. just nothing about engagements or anything like that. i'm still in the thinking phase. but thanks for this. definitely adds to the list of things i have to work out.

They can be involved after but I know I've been told they can't hold the ring or anything like that. Perhaps you could ride the carpets and have it set up that before the ride goes off you can propose. Photo pass could be there to take pictures etc since the ride is out in the middle of an open area. Then you can have your magic carpet ride and then go meet Jasmine and Aladdin.

i think this is a top contender. i'm gonna run it by her best friends and see what they think. i really enjoy how this is :D

I would have to say that this sounds great, but there are few Photopass photographers in that area of the park. Plus, they have assigned areas. You can always call and find out for sure.

Otherwise, it sounds like fun. Totally different!

If you call ahead and arrange it they will ensure a photo pass photographer is there. It is apart of the magical moment. I think you just call guest relations to start to ball rolling.

Maybe go to Jasmines meet and greet and have Aladdin propose then stop him and say "nooooo will you marry me?" or something :)
