We have never visited the Boardwalk mainly because I have no idea how to get there.

I've heard that you can walk there from Epcot.
How??

Is it worth the walk when you get there?
Or is it basically another Downtown Disney?

Thanks,

Tina

You can exit EPCOT at the Int'l Gateway (by France). The walkway will split with the Beach Club to the right and the walkway to the BW on the left. The BW does not have a lot of things to see and do -- mainly restaurants, nightclubs, ESPN club. At night they have some carnival-type games, performances.

Tina,
We traveled over to the boardwalk this past xmas- we took the boat there -which also goes to MGM-it is worth a trip. If you like ice cream go to Beaches&Cream-inside the Beach Club area. Good place for lunch, also. We checked out the hotels there. :wave2:

as far as getting there; disneydiz gave perfect directions...as far as worth going or not? that depends on what you like and who's in your group, but, our family always enjoys taking a visit to the boardwalk/Y&BC area....there are several sitdown restaurants, shops, and live entertainment along the boardwalk...the hotels themselves and the scenery are gorgeous; definately worth checking out....ESPN club is a cool place to eat, have a drink or two and watch a sporting event if you want...they also have a good video game area in the club that can entertain the kids...Beaches and Cream is great for a meal or just for desserts...listen to some piano at jelly rolls....there's a dance hall if thats to your liking...a couple of really nice sitdown restaurants for a nicer meal...a really fun, lively atmosphere...I'd say if you have the time; check it out..

About how long would it take? We were trying to figure out a place to have lunch at Epcot and had just decided on doing counter service, but I had forgot about Beaches and Cream. I've wanted to try it out.

BUT, we are also planning to do the Ice Cream Social for DS's birthday that afternoon. Would it be a wasted trip if we were only getting lunch? I mean, are we gonna feel like we're missing something if we don't get dessert?

Beaches and Cream is a great place to eat whether or not you include dessert...they have a really good prime rib sandwich, some of the best burgers I've ever tasted and great onion rings to name just a few things! just remember, B&C does not take PS, so you might want to either go a little earlier or later than usual for lunch to avoid a longer wait......oh yea, it only takes like 5 minutes to walk to B&C from the international gateway area of EPCOT...

P.S. although the boardwalk area is cool at anytime, we prefer to go after dark for the full effect....
