How to get permanent marker off the dog?

Is the dog embarassed? If not, let it go. It will fade or grow off in time. For what its worth, one of my dogs has been sporting a spot of dark brown hair dye for the last couple of months and it doesn't seem to bother her in the least...

That's what I figured...i'm hoping it will wear off/fade/grow out. But if anyone had any ideas, I'm willing to hear 'em out.

I have to agree with everyone else call the vet, you will at least give them something to laugh about. The picture is priceless. Someday years and years from now this will be even funnier than it is today!!

My dd came home from middle school with blue stripes in her hair!

Seems she and her friend were bored, borrowed sharpies from a teacher, and colored each others hair! It slowly faded with shampooing, but it did hang around for more than a week. Dd thought it was great! The other girl had red stripes.

I wonder if the Mr. Clean magic eraser would work on hair/fur?? I know it works on skin... lol

Please be very careful about using them on the skin! I saw an article online about this a few months ago...photos of a little girl who looked as if she had been scalded, when, in fact, she had simply decided to wash herself with one of those magic erasers. It may not be harmful to all, but anyone with sensitive skin could be in big trouble.

I wouldn't use it on a pet out of fear the pet would then ingest the chemicals.

Personally, I think I'd let it grow out. I'd also comment regularly, "Poor puppy! How sad you must be to have that marker all over you!" It might make an impression on the little one and help assure the dog won't be the canvas next time the little Picasso gets the urge to create!

I don't think I would try Magic Eraser. I know there were some emails going around a few years ago about them, I don't think their claims were true per Snopes, but I think that it can cause friction burns.

You might call Sharpie or check their website. I know Crayola has a ton of tips on getting their products off of things.

My kids did something similar to the cat once so I can relate! My DS then 4 also painted the neighbors dog it was washable paint but it did stain his fur for a while (the dog would come down and visit the kids to play!). And my dog rubbed all against newly painted walls in the kitchen my big black dog was yellow for a long time!

Hehe! My son did this two weeks ago with a green magic marker to our two black dogs. Luckily, you couldn't really see it unless the light hit it in the right spot. Our vet said to let it be. Thanks for the laugh!

I would skip the magic eraser. My niece used one to get black pen off of her leg and it left a rug burn on her, which looked painful! Dawn dishwashing liquid should get it right out.

Wow...well, sounds like the consenus is to wait it out. The only other thing I would know to try is Avon Skin So Soft. My wife is a school teacher and they use it all time to get permanent marker, pen ink and tape residue off of the desks.
