How to get permanent marker off the dog?

Yes. I'm serious.
She now has blue stripes and squiggle marks curtousy of my 2 yr old. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know about cleaning the dog, but he really looks kind of cute that way! Maybe a sweater?? Goo Gone may help, I don't know.

well, to get it off skin, I use baby oil. But I don't know if you'd want to do that with the dog. Anything petroleum-based will take sharpie off skin. I have also used rubbing alcohol. I know about sharpie because my kids swim and use sharpies to write on themselves every swim meet. Sometimes they just write their events/heats and sometimes they get bored and draw on one another! And school doesn't allow them to come with anything written on their skin.

I wouldn't do anything to try to remove it. You could unintentionally harm your pup if you start applying all sorts of chemicals to the hair coat (think potential burns, allergic reactions, &/or even illness due to ingestion).

Just let it 'grow out' on it's own. Most dogs shed rapidly enough that the marks will fade and be gone within a relatively short time.

I dont know if you can use on the dog or not. But nail polish remover takes off permanent marker. Maybe if you put him in the tub and use a cotton ball to the marker off then give him bath so he doesnt lick himself and get the nail polish remover in his mouth.

Is the dog embarassed? If not, let it go. It will fade or grow off in time. For what its worth, one of my dogs has been sporting a spot of dark brown hair dye for the last couple of months and it doesn't seem to bother her in the least...

What a great dog you've got! I'd call your vet honestly to see what's the best way if you're really wanting to get it off. It might also be good to be sure the marker doesn't *need* to come off.

I have to say...sounds exactly like something my kids would do!

Oh my goodness!!!!! I don't know what to tell you either. Normally I use hairspray or wipees to get sharpies and pens off of furniture, clothes, walls, etc. but I don't know how that would work on a dog. I'd say call the vet and get him a sweater. Poor doggie.

Yep, I agree ! my dog chewed up a sharpie and had it all over her, it grew out fairly quick
