How to enjoy without going to MNSSHP??

We do not have tickets to the after-hours festivities. Will there still be some special things going on during the day on the 30th and 31st that our kids would enjoy? Do people dress up in costume both of those days? And what can we expect in terms of crowds - will Sunday be less crowded than Monday? We will go early and park hop elsewhere before the park closes for the party. My husband wants to see the decorations, and a 4-year-old nephew is looking forward to Halloween at Disney. Not sure if the party at night is everything or if there are other things going on during the day for non-ticket holders. Do the other parks have Halloween decorations up too, or is it just the MK? Thanks for your help.

I think you can trick or treat at DD on Halloween night. Is that right, anyone? We want to do this as we are going to MNSSHP on Friday before Halloween with some other friends that are leaving Sunday!

Well, at least you'll get to see some people in costume - party people get let into the park at 4pm. If you can get a dinner reservation for 6PM or so inside MK, when you're done you'll be able to walk out and see the decorations on Main Street.

The likelihood of getting an ADR this late in the game isn't high, though.

To my knowledge, trick or treating and all of the decorations that go with it in Magic Kingdom are for the party only. I've not seen people dressing in costumes unless they are attending the party, which they can get into the park anytime after 4:00. You have a few children that dress up as Disney characters on any given day at any of the parks, but not too much Halloween dressing up, if your not going to the party.

I also believe that they offer some type of Halloween festivities at Downtown Disney and The Boardwalk.

This is just what I have noticed, maybe someone will now better and agree or correct me.

There are things that go on at PI and DTD. Go to DIS Home and click on "Halloween at Disney World." Scroll down to the bottom of that page and you'll see links for "Halloween weekend at PI" and "Halloween weekend at DTD." Hope this helps, and Happy Halloween.

you could ride the monorail to contemporary or Poly, eat dinner and maybe watch Hallowishes from the beaches???

I am sure there are TONS OF THINGS to do w/o the actual party...

Have you done the party? The reason I am asking is because I understand it is very crowded at this time. They only sell a limited amount of tickets, however, for MNSSHP- keeping the crowds low and all rides available. When I went the first time, we went the week before Halloween and we were so glad we bought the tickets. During the day it was difficult to get on the rides, at the party we walked on all rides and had an awesome spot for both parade and fireworks.

Dh and I were at WDW over Halloween last year. Unfortunately, MNSSHP was sold-out by the time we made our ressies. While there seemed to be a fair number of Halloween "events" listed for around the resort, we were disappointed by how "un-festive" everything seemed. PI was absolutely DEAD on the 31st!

Head to the Polynesian around 8:30 p.m., grab a hammock, and watch the Electrical Water Parade immediately followed by Hallowishes. I did this just a few days ago and it was my favorite few minutes of our entire 11 day trip! I went to MNSSHP a few days earlier, but I must more preferred seeing the fireworks from the Polynesian, they are awesome!

Thank you everyone for your responses. Let me make sure I have this right; the MK Halloween decorations go up ONLY for the private parties? So if we go to the MK the 30th or 31st during the day expecting some kind of special Halloween atmosphere and decorations we will be disappointed? For us, it's not about the trick or treating. We had just heard how awesome the place is decorated and wanted to see it. If it looks the same as any other day then we'll avoid the crowds and hit another park that day. Thanks again. 21 days and counting... :cool1:

You got it. The MK will look just like any other day on the 30th and 31st. Except for the party. The decorations are only up for the party.

Heres some info about trick or treating at Downtown Disney and some other events being held there for the 30th and 31st.

Is this information for this year too? As far as Downtown Disney it just states Oct. 30th and 31st, no year though. But if you check Pleasure Island, it still says 2004. So I don't know if both are updated for this year.

Hmmm, I don't know. I just found the info on this site. I didn't see that it said 2004.
