How to clean Microfiber furniture?

We have a microfiber couch that's fairly new. The instructions just said to blot with a damp cloth and that does fairly well most of the time, but I have a couple of spots that need a little more attention. I'm afraid to put anything on it that will ruin the couch. Any ideas?

I thought the title said "How to clean MICROWAVE furniture?"

I need to get my eyes checked. ;)

Sorry, no good tips for you Sherri, but you did give me a chuckle. :)

I use water and a little bit of dish soap. This has even removed pen marks from the couch.
Dish soap really works on ink marks? I'll have to try it.

I'm interested in this thread as well. We have a set in a light beige color and will show everything if you don't keep up on it. I typically use just plain water on mine. My question is, what do you do about the water rings you can sometimes get after cleaning them?

Oh - My daughter fell asleep one night and apparently she had a hershey's kiss in her hand that she ended up laying on and melting. Water actually took that out but left said water ring since I had to wet the towel more than usual.

When our furniture was delivered they used some sort of cleaner because they rubbed against something on their way in. My husband watched as they cleaned it and said the stuff was amazing. Of course it was the $80 cleaner kit they tried to sell me that I refused to buy at the store. It was one little spray bottle! I figured you could find them on the internet cheaper but I still haven't found it!

I used a Mr. Clean magic eraser and warm water on mine..the arm was quite matted and dirty from ppls hands on the one side that is the perfect tv spot :) and a few spots from DD spilling her drinks. It worked really well, and since no soap no fear of discoloring the couch (mine is dark purple)

The arms on my couch are very dirty also. I'm actually considering putting my grandmother's doilies on them. I'll try the magic eraser first!

Thanks everyone! Surely with all the suggestions, I can find something that works!

The guy we bought our set from said he used rubbing alcohol to get a pen mark off his sofa. I have never tried this myself. We have mocha brown furniture, and everything come off with dish soap and water.

everything comes off of mine with soap and water. and i do mean everything.

I second the others! I hated microfiber. I felt "forced" to get a couch made of it, because I was desperate and tired of looking in 100 stores, where that's practically all they sell anymore!

Then my dog got a stain on my practically white couch. I called Ashley furniture and asked how to clean it, and was completely skeptical. Dish soap and water?!

It works. It's like a miracle right before your eyes! I've removed lots of stuff this way, and I never cease to be amazed! :thumbsup2

Just as a word of warning. When you wipe it off, the color on the couch (at least mine) will look DRASTICALLY different. It dries normal, though.

Good luck!

Do you like your microfiber? I'm considering it but I've got kids and dogs. Does it hold up well?

Thanks for starting this thread. I had the same question :) Love the DIS!
