How soon to use membership benefits?

Our BCV initial contract went to Disney on 4/23 and now we are in the ROFR waiting period. Our agent told us that we would close around 6/25 assuming all goes through. So my question is how long will it take for us to get our paperwork and membership materials fro DVC? We have a trip planned for July 10 using the 4/3 deal and I'd like to upgrade my ticket to an annual pass using our DVC membership discount. Will I be able to do this if we have closed by then?

You should be in the DVC reservation/computer system by then. If you have not received your packet and membership cards before your trip, you can stop by the sales office at SSR and get a temporary membership card to use to upgrade your ticket.

As long as you are in the DVC computers by then, no problem.

Thanks, Chuck. I wonder if we can get a temporary card at BCV since we are staying at the BC? If not, a trip to Saratoga will be fine.

No, the temporary cards have to be issued at the sales center at SSR.

ROFR - Right of First Refusal

When you transfer/sell a DVC deed, whether through a reseller or private sale, or even a gift, it has to be presented to DVC for their Right of First Refusal. Usually it is automatically waived if the deed/membership is being "gifted" or inherited, but if it is being sold for money, Disney has the right to purchase the contract for the same price, rather than letting the sale go through. They exercise this right if they feel the resale price is "too low" to protect the resale value of DVC, and make buying direct from DVC more "competive."

ROFR is the term used for "Right of First Refusal". In other words Disney gets to buy the resale contract if they think you are getting too good a deal!
