How soon should a I begin an exchange search?

We woulld like to do an II trade over Easter week '06 to 'somewhere' Carribean..we are flexible as to islands, so long as the resort seems a fair trade. We'd need a 2 br. Due to job uncertainess with DH, I was thinking of taking the summer to look over various islands to come up with my top five choices and starting my search with DVC in Sept. once the girls go back to school.

I'm looking for feedback on this as to whether you think I should step things up and start the search now, or am I ok to wait. Also, I'd appreciate input on your picks as to which islands I should try for. I'm leaning towards Aruba, Antigua, St. John, Cancun...any thoughts? Thanks! Natalie

I would put in the request ASAP and see what matches DVD can come up with. It could take awhile to find a match, and being completely flexible as to exactly where and when is your best tactic. Just request "somewhere in the Caribbean" and see what they come up with. If you don't have anything by the end of the year, you might try doing a direct exchange on a site like TUG.
