We will be at DL from Nov.10-15 and the Christmas decorations are due to be out on the 12th. I'm wondering if they will be making candy canes that early?

I'm thinking you might be too early. My recollection is that the first day of candy canes last year and the year before was the day after Thanksgiving. Things change every year, but I wouldn't count on there being candy cane making during your visit.

I think you'll be there too early.

The "Disney at Christmas" super thread has all sorts of holiday-related info (we basically have a 'panel of DLR holiday experts' over there who can answer all kinds of questions). Feel free to just jump on in and post a question anytime! Here is the link to the thread:

In the Disney at Christmas super thread, check out Page 61, where there is candy cane discussion:

And on Page 61 of the Disney at Christmas super thread, Post #909 has a link to another old thread about the candy canes:

If all else fails, use your "Search This Thread" tab above while in the Disney at Christmas thread and search "candy canes," and you will find every reference to candy canes in that particular thread!!

Yep, last year the first day for Candy Canes was Friday, November 27.

And afterward the Candy Canes were sold on some Fridays and some Saturdays.

They have a recorded message that has the candy schedule, and I think it gets updated about once per week. The phone number is 714-781-0112.

Your best bet is to call that number about a week before your trip. :thumbsup2

(Edited to add: MP's Weekly DLR Update sometimes has the schedule for Candy Canes, although last year the schedule changed once or twice. Here's a link: http://www.mouseplanet.com/search.php?type=c&cid=dl )

Tips on How to Find Your Favorite Candy on
Main Street, U.S.A.

As we know from the annual popularity of candy cane production at the Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A.,
many of the Disneyland “homemade” candies have their own fan base.

If you’re a fan of the candy making on Main Street U.S.A., have you ever wished you could find out what candies
are being produced each day? Well, you can. There’s a phone number you can call that will tell you which
candies are being made in the park on any particular day. (It’s a recorded message and usually covers a week at
a time.) Just call 714-781-0112 and consider these facts while you’re listening to the recording:

• Caramel Apples are one of the most popular candy items purchased on Main Street, U.S.A.
• Candy Canes are definitely the most time consuming and difficult to make.
• English Toffee creates the best aroma while the candy makers are doing their thing.

And, you might want to swing by Candy Palace when they’re making Peanut Brittle because I’ve heard the candy
making process for Peanut Brittle is an attraction in and of itself.

Hey Kerri!

It's been a while and I've been swamped - everything is going on! I'll have to call and catch up.

Did you guys see the summer version of candy canes they made last month? They did butterscotch!!!

YelloeMickeyPonchos,
Thanks for posting that. I really enjoyed reading your article. My parents love Guy. It really is neat the way they make those candy canes. I often thought about trying to get one, but my husband was in no way intereted in buying a 10 dollar candy cane. Now I can show him your blog and try to convince him.

Goldies 5 (Kim),

Glad you enjoyed it. They may be $10, but they are HUGE and handcrafted and they actually will go a very long way for the money.

We buy them to take and share with others.

It's the kind of thing you get and take to a Christmas Eve party where you break it and pass it around - giving a little piece of the holiday spirit with those you love.

Or open it on Christmas morning and break off little pieces for everyone to sample while opening presents.

Things like that make a simple Disneyland candy cane part of your family memories....

Butterscotch??? OMG YUM!!!!! I would have waited in line for one of those and paid $10 with no problems...well if I still had a job anyway. :) Unfortunately no DL trips for us for a while, I have to find work before we can do too much fun stuff. lol
