I have another one. If I buy through Disney, do you have to wait until closing to book? Or can you go once you're approved? How does that work?

In most cases, once you pay your deposit, you will be in the DVC computer and will be able to make a reseravtion.

Depending on the specifics of your resort and whether the specific building you "own" is complete, you may have restrictions on when points are available, but you can still usually make a reservation for anytime after that date immediately. Your DVC guide can fill in the details for your purchase.
