Three of the days of our trip, dh will be at a conference. It will be me, dd9, dd6, and ds4. All of my kids are at least 40 inches. On rides where only three people can fit in a seat, will they let my two dd's ride alone if I am sitting near them with DS? Any other logistical things I should think about with me being the only adult?

both DD would need to be age 7, DD age 6 will have to ride with you and DS. to be able to ride with younger child the older child must be 14

I believe you can fit 2 kids and an adult on BTMRR and Splash. The Mine Train will be an issue, test track seats 3, Soarin you are all right in a row. Are there any I am missing?

The official rule is 7 to ride alone but I believe they could put your non 7 year old in the seat right in front as you will be in the same car. Riding alone really means entering the queue alone. Think about it Space Mountain only has 1 seat but age doesn't come into play.

If you are in the same ride vehicle you should be ok.

How tall is your younger daughter? Does she look like she could be seven? If you coach her would she say she's seven? You mention you two year old being 40 inches so I'm guessing your kids are fairly tall for their ages.

I doubt they will ask for her exact age. My guess is that age limit is for kids riding completely alone. If you are in line with them and sitting directly behind them I can't imagine you will have issues.

It doesn't matter if an adult is in line or not. The adult has to be on the ride. And from what I have read on the Dis, they have been pretty strict about this.

The adult would be one the ride, from what I understand. OP is asking about seating.

There were several times on our trips where my husband sat alone in one seat, and my twin daughters (were 4 first trip, 5 the second) sat together. My son and I don't do coasters, so we sat out.

Having an odd number of riders with several under the age of 7 can't be an unusual situation at Disney;). I'm sure they'll let you ride, one way or another. Especially with the child in question being six.

There have been some fairly recent posts from people stating that they had to be in the same ride vehicle with their younger kids. So some rides wouldn't work, such as the Haunted Mansion, or Peter Pan. it sounds as if it can depend on the CM. Some allow young kids in their own car, some don't.

I told my dd to say she was 7 when she was 6. She never rode anything without me but wanted to ride things like dumbo without 3 of us having to cram into a seat. I knew she was mature enough to stay seated, not stick her arms out.

Don't be so sure that they won't ask the kids ages. When were there in June with our 10 and 13 year old daughters both they and us were asked their ages on several rides when they wanted to sit together. The one that I specifically remember is Toy Story Mania, but I know we were asked on other rides, too.

grandsons have been asked ages on a number of rides and the 6nyear old was forced tom ride with teen brother and the toddler more than once, not allowed to ride with 8 year old even with other two right behind

Yes. Sometimes dh and I sit with the baby and the 2 older kids sit together. They are 9 and 4- but to be fair, my son is off the charts in height (he's 43" now I believe). We've done it on Haunted Mansion and and the new Ariel ride.

When we went in February dh and I decided to ride together for Big Thunder Mountain (bad choice :P should have picked a roomier ride ;) ) and they didn't question us at all. We were in line together and they asked how many, we said 4, they let us through and we got in one line, our girls got into the one right ahead of us. They were 7 and 9 but my younger daughter is small for her age and they didn't even ask her age

The general rule is that you must be 7 years old to ride without someone 14 years or older. The expanded version some are giving is that as long as you are behind them, in same car it is okay. I think in actuality you will find it may differ from attraction to attraction based on what is determined safe for that attraction.

Example: We were at Severn Dwarfs Mine Ride. In group being put into the loading slips in front of us there was parents and two daughters that I would guess were 5/6 and 10/11. Clearly the older child was not 14. CMs told the parents they would need to split up and one of them sit with the younger child. The father began complaining which led to yelling that the girls wanted to sit alone. CMs said she was not old enough and her sister was not old enough to supervise. He continued and they let the train leave without them, asked them to step back. We were loaded on the next train and he was still standing there yelling. When we got back they were gone, no idea if they ever rode.

My point being is be prepared at most rides for it being no problem, but if there is any chance of it being a safety issue and a CM is concerned, be prepared to not ride as in your case (unlike the parents who wouldn't split up) there would be no other options. You have to remember that CMs are risking their jobs if they break a safety rule.

This is one of those crappy rules. I understand when it is a different ride vehicle and even things like dumbo but in a ride like Space they let you ride under 7 because you are technically in the same car but at 7DMT there are reports that even same car is a no go.

I never got to go to Disney as a kid but if we had my family would have been SOL because my mom was a single mom and my brother and I are only 10 months apart.
