As a secondary poll, I wonder how old people's kids were when they bought into DVC and how much that influenced your decision.

I really meant to give this poll multiple choices so that people could answer more accurately if they have kids that are in more than one age group, but since I didn't, why don't you just use whichever child influenced you more (ie if you bought in because you had your first child use that child, if you bought in because you felt your youngest was old enough to really enjoy WDW, use that etc.) I'm sorry!

I joined last year with the BCV.
My kids are 38 & 36.
My GrandKids are 15, 14, 12, 10, 4 and be here by Christmas.
We bought for DW and I 1st and sharing with the kids 2nd.
None have ever turned down an invitation even before DVC.
They do trips on the own.
Excellent investment for group vacations.
Great investment for DW and I to get away.

Did not feel there was a good category for me.

My child(ren) are DD who's 3 next week and D? who's due in October! Having children totally influence my decision to buy into DVC. I really didn't fancy spending a lot of money just to squeeze three, soon four, of us into one room, especially as they got older. Instead we can spread out in our nice spacious villa.

Also, I know I get tired at WDW and have sometime made myself go out to the food court, or restaurant to get something to eat even when I didn't feel like it. But with kitchen facilities we don't have to drag the children out anywhere to eat, especially if they're really tired, but can make up a little snack "at home"

I purchased 170 pts back in 1997 for romantic vacations for DH and myself, since my kids were getting ready to go off to college, and wouldn't want to go with Mom and Dad anymore. Wrong!! They loved BWV, and we have been having family vacations ever since--we take 3 vacations per year, and I think we have only had one vacation in all that time without kids! So we are now up to 700 pts, and I am still trying to get another romantic vacation without the kids finding out, and tagging along;)

My son was 3 weeks older than 1 year old when we made our initial purchase. Now 2 add ons and one add on in family, my daughter we are set for the next 39 years.

DD was 6 when we bought in and DS was 'on the way'.

I'm afraid I don't know what that translates to in grade school terms :)

We bought in1993 - DS # was 2 1/2 and DS #2 was 4 months

I'm sorry that I left out grandkids and that I made the poll very US-centered. I think that high school is "teen", middle school is "pre-teen" and grade school is "kid" (ages can vary but generally grade school is up to about 10, middle is 11-13 and high school is 14-17)

I voted "have no kids yet but plan on having them."

if my DW was voting I am sure she would have put "my SO is kid enough." LOL

We bought last summer, and DD's are now 13 and 8. We got an invitation to come to WDW to hear the DVC presentation. We'd always been the ones walking past the kiosks thinking "why would you want to always come to Disney on vacation?" Now that we understand things, we are kicking ourselves that we didn't join sooner!

The nice thing about the girls being older is that everyone can walk themselves and we don't have to babyswap anymore. Plus we can slip out in the evenings for a bit, while they watch a movie! I'm really hoping that a few years from now, when boyfriends are in the picture, our girls will want to come with us longer if we allow the BF to come (assuming we like him;) ) Natt

My girls were in grade school. But I was a bigger influence on the purchase decision than either of them! :p

There wasn't a catagory for me.

Our adult kids are 34 and 28. Yes they still do travel with us.

I was pregnant with our daughter when we joined DVC, but didn't know it, so that didn't factor into our decision. Well, I knew I was pregnant but thought I was going to have a miscarriage, so we went out and blew our money because we were upset(it would have been the second m/c in 4 months).
Happily everything worked out perfectly for us.
We joined in February of 1999 and have taken 8 DVC trips since then, so we are getting the most out of it!:D

My wife and I have been trying to have kids for a couple of years now. No luck yet. :(
We would have bought DVC with or without kids, as it is my wife and I that are truly Disney fanatics.

Well, oldest daughter is a rising senior in university and her sister is a rising sophomore at same university. They do still travel with us, but it is only once every year or two. Therefore, I answered graduated and no travel.

We joined DVC last year.

Our kids were 29 & 26 when we bought our first pts. six years ago at OKW.

Yes, they love DVC!! Our grandchildern ( 3 princesses) love DVC!!

They were a big factor in our buying into DVC, we could never have afforded the cost of so many wonderful family vacations if it weren't for the DVC!!! We're up to 425pts now, & to us it's worth every penny!!

:earsboy:

My kids are grown 38 & 35, I bought for my 5 Granddaughters ages 7, 5, 4, 2 and 1 month, I love taking them to WDW and just watching them, hopefully they'll be taking there kids someday and can tell them how they used to go with Nanny and Poppy.

We bought May '03, DS 3 1/2 and was a major factor in the
purchase. Race is on noe to get as many trips in before he
starts school !

Our kids are now 29-DS and 17-DD. Our son and his wife gave us our 1st grandchild

When we bought into DVC in 99 we started with 230 pts. Now we have 600 pts (OKW-300 VB-300) and go at least 2-3 times a year. It is the best decision we have ever made.:)
