Ha! I have an 8yo, 3yo, one on the way, AND my dh is more kid than I can handle! But really....the kids were not what made us consider DVC. They just happen to be along for the ride!

We decided we'd like to go to WDW as much as possible before we had our kids. We had 2 before we could join DVC though! We were actually expecting our first when we first heard of DVC....and really would have considered it if it had been remotely a possibility.

My wife and I bought in January... way back when we only had 3 kids. Now we have 4 little ones; 2 girls (5 and 1.5) and 2 boys (3 and 10 weeks).

I wanted to buy when we stayed at the Poly in April 99, but somehow we talked ourselves out of it. We did it mainly for the kids, but we like disney too (our second date was Disneyland).

We'll need room to spread out as we go, so the hotel rooms just wouldn't cut it for us. Plus, I like the idea of committing up front to a family vacation every year. This helps us plan something big for the family and gives us something to look forward to.

We're definitely the minority -- no kids at all. The SO answer is perfect for us: DW was the Disney fanatic, and she twisted my arm till I gave in ;)

Of course, I've regretted it ever since... Not!

I'm in the "no catagory" group too. My DD is 29 and I have a DGD (my Disney buddy) who is 8 and another DGD on the way! I call my DGD that isn't here yet my backup in case DGD8 gets "too cool for Disney." She says she'll never get too cool for Disney! We'll see!

When we bought, dd was just shy of 3 in 1999. We definitely are Disney people and we were on a DVC vacation with our best friends. We knew before going down on that trip, that we were buying. We were pretty sure that dd was going to be an only child and thought that it would be perfect so that she could bring a friend along as she got older. Well, fast forward to 2003 and she can now enjoy her trips with her little brother. Glad we bought DVC because we might need a bigger room as the kids get older and want to bring friends. Also, we are planning to celebrate ds' 3rd birthday in Disney. His birthday is Valentine's Day and no his name is not Valentino (being married to an Italian it crossed dh's lip a couple of times, but I held ground. I guess if I was Italian too then Valentino it would of been. Thank God I'm not!!!) Yet I digress, yes children were a factor....

Our DD is 15 1/2 and our DS is 8. We just put a down payment on 180 pts. and I can see us probably adding on sometime in the future.

Still in the excited, happy, nervous is this the right thing, of course it's the right thing period of DVC ownership.

Peace

No category for me:

Even the SO category isn't an answer for me because at 50 and 55....well, you do the math OK?

I never had children of my own.

Married DH who had 3 grown kids.

Grandkids all born before we bought DVC.

So: never had kids, and all of the steps- were not an influence in my decision
