How much time for Jedi sign ups?

What questions could they ask and what do the child have the be willing to do? Can the parents see the show going on when it's playing? What are they age requirements for the child? Thanks

Why does Disney make it so hard to do something like this? Why don't they let people sign up, like they do for a fp+? You have to get there before the park opens, walk over to the area like a herd of sheep and then wait in line, sometimes for over an hour. Sorry, Disney does not make things easy for people. Don't they realize, it's vacation and people don't want this type of rushing and stress first thing in the morning.

Agreed. But I guess the alternative is they open the registration up 30 days out at midnight and people are talking about staying up and starting to attempt to log in at 11:58 and IT'S SO STUPID TO PLAN MY VACATION 30 DAYS OUT and etc etc. With this kind of demand, the queue will be there, it's just a matter of where and when Disney creates the queue.

Personally, I'd rather do it the electronic way, as you suggest, but oh well.

That's not an issue at all!!! Keep looking and you will definitely find a PPO ADR. I didn't get my PPO ADR at H&V until 90 days mark and my trip is in August where the predicated crowd level is 7. Touringplans.com has a dining reservation finder that you can use for free. It has helped me to find some hard-to-find adr.

Just an FYI, the reservation finder can only be used if you belong to touringplans.

How about getting a PPO ADR at H&V? Don't ppl with PPO ADR get to go into the park early to sign up for JTA before ADR??

You won't be able to sign up BEFORE your ADR, but if you finish with your meal at least 15 min before opening time, you will be inside the park at the internal rope holder before the gate crowd gets there.

Just an FYI, they don't do the midnight opening anymore for adr's, it's 7am in the morning.

I'm sure that I had read posts from people who had a PPO ADR at H&V and they were allowed to do Jedi sign-up before their ADR. Has that changed?

The reason they don't do this with FP is because they ask the children several questions, and there is an age requirement. They don't want people lying them showing up and leaving an open hole, or flaking and not showing with their FP.

Is it new policy? Do you mind share more about that please?

That's what I have heard too. A friend was there first week of July. She had a 8:05 ADR at H&V and she signed her children up for JTS before their ADR.

My answer is based more on logistics than anything reported. To be able to sign up before your ADR means there has to be someone at the sign up to speak with and do the sign up. I just don't see them being in place and ready for guests at that time. If your friend was able to do it, then I would go hoping for the same, but expecting it to be after.

Thank you for the explanation.

FYI, there were CM holding signs saying "JTA sign up-- this way" as early as 7:55am when the park opened at 9am. Hope it remains the same for a couple more months.

Perhaps you should read the information about JTA on the website. Here's a link :.https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/entertainment/hollywood-studios/star-wars-jedi-training/

The CMs will ask them several questions to make sure they are old enough , willing to be in the show ( and not just being coerced by a parent), and that they are able to follow directions. Yes, you can watch the show.

We were there in March and able to sign up for JTA prior to our PPO ADR at H&V. We had an 8:15 ADR I think and they were directing people to sign-up prior to checking in. We only waited about 10 min. to sign-up that day. YMMV depending on crowds, time, etc. My daughter loved JTA. It was a highlight of the trip for her.

The children have to be ages 4-12. If I remember correctly, they ask the child's age, whether the child can follow directions, and if the child is scared of Darth Vadar.

We waited much longer. We were there at rope drop and hustled immediately there- then waited a little over an hour in line. This was in October, though...

That was close to our experience when we were there the second week of June this year too. We got there about 25 minutes before rope drop (although they let us in about 10 minutes before rope drop) on a non-EMH morning. We waited on the correct side to go straight to sign ups and hustled back with our 3 kids. We waited in line for about 35-40 minutes before we were able to sign up. Of course there was little to no shade in the sign up area either! The earliest JTA spot available at that time was for the 12:30 (or 12:40?) show which we took and it was hotter than the sun at that time since there is no shade in the JTA performance area. The line behind me for sign ups was outside the roped off area and there were still people hurrying back there when we were leaving. I felt so bad for them because I was pretty sure that they weren't getting a spot and this was only about 30-45 minutes after the park officially was supposed to open. When all was said and done we were done with the entire sign up process about a half hour or so after official park opening.

I guess it all depends on how many people would like to do JTA on the day that you want to do it and how busy the park is on your day. Plus maybe how many people made PPO ADRs to get into the JTA sign up line first?

Signing up for this seems like a big PIA. My kids will have to watch from outside the "reserved" area. Plus sitting in the sun at the end of August in the middle of the day doesn't sound fun.

I've heard of several people who have signed up before their ADR, even before an 8 or 8:05 ADR. The CM at H&V check in specifically told them to go over to sign up for JTA before checking in at the restaurant if they were interested.

In June, my 4 yr old and I arrived at DHS at 8:20. We got to the gate about 8:30 and people were already being let in. By the time we got to the line, it was a 40 minute wait.
