How much of a pain would it be?

to go from MK to Kona's for dinner? I was going to try to stick with something in the park since that's our arrival day and we won't get to spend too much time, but there doesn't seem to be a lot to chose from. How do we go about getting to the Polynesian?

It's super easy! You can just hop onto the monorail and it takes you directly to the Polynesian's front door. If you're headed back to the Magic Kingdom you can pick up the monorail at the same place and be back very shortly!

We were actually considering doing this as well in April cause I'm just not all that impressed with the choices at MK either.:goodvibes

I agree! It is very easy and doesn't take long at all! We love Kona! It is worth going over to the Poly to try. I have been singing Kona's praises ever since we got back last year!:worship: I just loved it!

Thanks - I think that will be our choice for our day at MK. How long will it take us to get to Kona from the Kingdom?

It depends on how long you have to wait for the monorail. If you just hop on the resort monorail without much of a wait, I would say about 15 minutes. We went to the Poly twice, once for Ohana and once for Kona and it took different amounts of time each time. I would say at least allow 30 minutes to get there from MK just to be safe.

You can also take the ferry from MK to the Poly. Or from the Poly back to MK after you enjoy your meal. :)

I recommend riding the monorail over to the Poly and then if you are going back to the MK, hop on the boat. The view of the hotels and the MK is just beautiful at night!

Since we havein't stayed at a monorail resort the past few years, a trip to Kona for dinner gives us a great meal, and a spin on the monorail! Both the monorail and the boat are very relaxing after a meal at Kona.

We do this even if we aren't going to return to MK to do rides, etc. - we just go to MK to grab our resort bus.

It's pretty easy. All you have to do is walk back up to the front of the park and hop on the monorail.

Very easy...did this for my birthday in September. Monorail takes you right to the door. Now, I wasn't too impressed with it, but it is better (IMO) than any of the TS in MK, with the possible exception of CP.

Both the monorail and boat are great. The monorail is probably faster in general, but keep your eye out as you approach the area. You basically walk right past the boat launch on your way to monorail ramp. Be certain to go to the RESORT monorail, not theone to the TTC!

Anyhow, as you are walking up to the ramp, if you happen to see the boat approaching the dock, then that's a pretty good choice. If it's leaving or you don't see the boat, then the monorail is probably faster. The boat generally takes a little longer, esp since it stops at GF first...but there are times when the monorail stops running temporarily.

The boat ride is a nice quiet break from the noise of MK...but there's something special about arriving to MK via monorail!

Not much at all! We usually try and do a MK resort meal for an MK day. It's easy and relaxing for us. :)

Very easy to get there, and IMHO, well worth what little pain it will take. Try to time it so that you can see the Electric Water Parade on the Lagoon (I think it hits Poly around 9 PM).
