How much of a mess is DTD?

We have basically a full day on our last day on our September trip, we were considering visiting DTD because were not sure if it's worth the money to pay to get into a park and have to leave by 3:30-4pm to be at the airport for 5:30. But I'm hearing a few horror stories about how much of a mess and closed off it is that it's not worth going? Any suggestions are very appreciated!

What type of passes do you have? It might only be a few dollars to add on an extra day for the parks. Spending a day at DTD, you might end up spending more money

We were there two weeks ago. It isn't pretty. There are walls everywhere basically creating cattle chutes through the whole middle section. The Marketplace and West Side aren't too bad but everything in between is bad. Its very congested, hot, and not very magical. The concept art on the walls looks very nice, but it is a hot mess right now.

I would avoid DTD. As the blog stated it is the land of construction walls and cranes. Here is the link to the pics. Transporttaion is a nightmare.

Resort Tour - Head over to FW, rent a golf cart, tour around, visit the Ranch & Petting Zoo, sit on the porch at PH and enjoy a drink. Then take the boat to WL/CR and have lunch.
Go to PO and look at both those resorts take the leisurely boat to DTD.
Do a pool day at your resort. Go to one of the resort beaches and get some downtime. Read and enjoy the sun. We find there are good restrooms some with showers where we can change.
If you want to go shopping the Premium Outlet mall is down the street from DTD and might be a better option.
