How much is your 2012 Disney Vacation costing this year?

I feel a bit like I didn't get a very good deal somehow... (booked through Disney).

Sept 17-26

3 adults
POP Century
9 day MYW tickets
Free Dining (that we upgraded to deluxe dp)
Preferred room

$3,500

(this does not include airfare-2 of us are coming from Alberta, Canada and one from Aus)

Does that seem high to anyone else (especially since free dining)?

I think upgrading to the deluxe dining plan is what did you in. It's about $50 per person per day to to upgrade from the quick service dining plan. That added about $1350 to your package cost. :scared1:

Our two trips are better controlled this year so here goes:

June at YC Garden View
room 4 nights on a AP discount came to $961
Using TIW for our dinners I expect the total to be around $350 for food.
Driving over so gas $50

TTL: $1361 for 5 days 4 nights and we have some gift cards for souvies

Sept Poly Garden View
4 nights on a Travel agent special block $703
Using TIW again so food around the same $350
Driving again gas $50

TTL: $1103 5 days 4nights and no souvies this time

Both trips came out to $2464 and my yearly budget was $2500 so we have very little wiggle room :)

Well since you upgraded to the deluxe plan that is about 1350.00 of your cost. I think it is about 50.00 a day to upgrade to deluxe per a person and it looks like you are going for 9 days.

If you drop down to the RDP instead of the DXDP you can probably save 1000.00 of that 1350.00.

This is for November 10th

3 adults
Port Orleans French Quarter - 4 nights/5 days
4 day MYW Park Hopper passes
Free Dining

$1800 even (so $600 a piece)

That total does not include gas driving to/from Florida (factor in $50 per person) or spending money.

Out of all of the times I have gone to Disney, this will by far be one of the cheapest (I am thanking free dining for that).

Is DVC really free? Where do I sign up? ;)

ITA! Several posts where people have estimated their rooms to be free instead of prorating the cost out (per trip taken in the year with maintenance costs, financing costs etc.) for the trip are a bit misleading. Even if your DVC purchase is paid off you are still paying maintenance fees etc. and should be pro-rating these into your vacation cost estimates. I guess if someone is "giving" you a vacation in a DVC property for free then it is truly free but that's not what I see happening here :confused3

FYI - Our friends did gift us a week in their Wyndham condo property timeshare in the Canadian Rockies last September; all we paid was the $50 booking etc. fee.

And I know for my upcoming trip example where I am using my AP for a second trip, I actually am prorating the cost per day of pass use; no fooling myself into thinking that the tickets are actually "free" this trip! They aren't until I get past a certain point of use.

Yes, we're talking about a wonderful vacation place but let's not kid ourselves. This is one example of how costs can be underestimated and personal finances sometimes end up in a mess :rolleyes1

3 Dis adults and 1 Dis kid
7 nights at POFQ in Sept.
Free Dining
7-day Park Hoppers
$1100.00 (used $1700.00 in DRD)

Airfare from MO to Orlando
$394.20 (used another $394.20 in Flier Miles)

TOTAL
$1494.20

It's even more exciting to see it written down than it is just telling my husband what an awesome deal I've gotten!

Nothing booked yet (crossing my fingers and praying for Free Dining!!!) Planning on a December 2012 trip:

5 nights (2 adults) at POFQ w/ 5 day park hoppers: $1,620
Airfare from MI: $600

$2,220 total, not including souvenirs, OOP meals etc. This is assuming free dining. If no FD then add $500 for food to that total. Blergh.

We did 6 nights at Coronado Springs last year, plus La Nouba and MVMCP and spent $3,500.

Edit: Had to update the airfare to $600. I originally had $300, but there are two of us. I know that amount was too good to be true!

Very true. We are 3 women in our late 20's/early 30's, and having a great meal at the end of the day at a signature is something we are all looking forward to (enjoy being an adult at Disney before we all have kids etc). It definitely added up though! I'm wondering if it would have been smarter to do a Mod, and then upgrade from the free rdp to dxdp...

The extra cost boils down to $450 each to upgrade...With having nice ts meals, we likely would have spent that (give or take) over the 10 days..maybe a bit less, but I do like the idea of knowing it's all paid for before I go -n/incl tips of course-(that in and of itself makes the dp worth it for me)...

Thanks for pointing it out, makes me see the logic behind what feels like a big $$number!

still wondering if we should just do a mod...gah.

July 2012
8 guest (3 Adults 2 Disney Adults 3 Children)
7 nights OKW 2 br villa = $1,400.08 (DVC Maintenance Fees for points used)
DDP $2,119.32
7 day Tickets/Park Hopper/Water Park & More $1,726.48
RT Airline from WI, Madison = $1,756

Total = $7,001.88 :eek:

DVC is NOT CHEAP!! :scared1: But I love it anyway.

I would upgrade if only for the queen beds.

What an interesting thread! I've always wondered what others pay for their Disney vacations.

I'm paying for the majority of my trip for my sister and I:
2 adults - Sept 15-23.

6 nights @ Art of Animation - LM Room
8 day hoppers w/WPFAM
Free QS dining upgraded to Dining plus
=$1,693

2 nights @ ??? - A DVC resort! Waiting to close on my new purchase :). I'll estimate $250 based on my yearly DVC "cost" of $1000 (including purchase price, fees, etc.), which will normally get me 8 nights in a studio.

DDP for those two nights - $104 (my sister is paying this part on her own)

Flights - $69 Southwest credit card fee - signed up to get the points!

Bringing $250 for my portion of tips/souvenirs/drinks, etc. My sister will probably bring about $125

My grand total = $2366 BUT I am paying about $700 with credit card points, so OOP is $1666
My sister's total = $298
Grand total = $2,664

I think I need to find someone to take ME on vacation instead :rotfl:

2 adults in January at Kidani Village. DVC is $1440 per year. This was the second trip within 12 months so we used our exist annual passes which were about $450 each, so count that as $450 for this one trip. We also used our Tables in Wonderland card again, so count that as $40 for this one trip. $1525 for Autotrain with bedroom each way. About $375 for one of the tours at the Animal Kingdom park. $100 for a night at a hotel on the way down. $400 in food and incidentals. $100-$150 in gasoline. I don't remember how much we paid in tolls.

2 adults in October at the Boardwalk Inn with lake view/ 7 day park hoppers....$4738.14

09/29 - 10/08 at POFQ (10 days)
8 Day park hoppers
Free dining but we upgraded to deluxe
-------$3,961.74
Airfare - $998.40

Total - $4,960.14 :scared1:

Last year we went for 8 days same resort and deluxe dining for under $4000:confused3

Can I ask how much they charge to upgrade to deluxe dining? We got free dining in January, but we paid out of pocket for a few extra table service meals. It never occurred to me to upgrade to deluxe on top of the free regular dining. I'll have to do some number crunching to see if the difference outweighs what we paid out of pocket. We did choose our cheapest table services to pay OOP.

I guess I feel a little better now. We are looking to book 10 people (2 adults, 3 disney adults, 5 disney kids) for June 2013 with the dining plan, park hoppers, and airfare. So far $15000 is the lowest estimate I have but that seems somewhat in line with what I am seeing on this thread.

We're going October 8-14. Staying at Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Room

We paid $2819.64 for resort, 6 day non park hopper tickets and regular dining plan for 2 adults and 2 children (with 30% off room pin).

Round trip airfare from Providence, RI for 4 $1158

$3,977.65 Total
