How much is the Disneyland Photopass ?

We did the photo pass in WDW and loved it. I didn't want to carry around my large DSLR all day with a little one. This way we got some quality pictures and at what I considered a reasonable price. This was the first time we got good pictures of our family in front of the castle at night.

I also loved that you could customize the pictures online.

Another question - do they post the CD's internationally? I like the idea of photopass but I would need the CD posted to New Zealand.

I don't know if they ship internationally, but I do know that you can take your PhotoPass to the Camera shop on Main Street and have all photos burned onto it right there.

Two things to be aware of is you choose this option. Because it doesn't make much sense to add pictures to your PhotoPass after you have the CD in hand, you'll want this to be one of the last things you do before leaving the park. The line for the Camera shop can get very long late at night because everyone else has the same idea. So, either plan to deal with a long wait at the camera shop or set a time earlier on the last day by which every important picture in front of an icon (castle at night, etc.) and/or character must be taken or if you have a half day, just do it very last.

If you order the CD in the parks, you cannot add the borders, character autographs, etc. to the pictures on the CD. That must be done online.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to address my next point separately from the previous one. Disneyland and WDW do not always have photographers at every location all the time. And not all park icons (The Matterhorn, Small World, Haunted Mansion) have photographers near them.

Likewise, characters do not always have PhotoPass photographers with them. I have met Mickey many times without a PhotoPass photographer anywhere near the Mouse. I have also seen the princesses in the parks without a PhotoPass photographer nearby. There is usually a CM character handler nearby who will be happy to take a picture with your camera or a guest who will agree to, but I'd advise using the simplest setting possible in such cases. And the only character with a photographer near them at a character meal is the host character and you must buy the package in order to add that picture to your PhotoPass. All other characters at a character meal will not have a photographer with them.

As much as I like the PhotoPass service and have used it many times, it is not a substitute for having a camera with you. While PhotoPass saved me on one occasion when my camera batteries were completely dead, there have been many more occasions when the only reason I got a photo I wanted was because I had my own camera with me.

How about ride pictures? like splash mountain or pics covered by photopass? or is the only way to get those pics is to purchase them at the time of the ride

Those are all seperate charges. So you can't simply add them to the PP account like you can on Test Track for free. You buy the photo and have it tacked onto your card. It's the same for Character meals.

So in the end, better to buy the on ride or dining photo prints seperate unless you just want to use them as expensive wallpaper for your computer.

Last summer I got home and saw that there was a coupon code for $10 off our CD. So keep your eyes out for that. I don't know how often they do deals like that. Also, each time you add a border, crop, or enhance a photo in your photopass account, you can save it as an additional photo.

For example, if you have one with Minnie Mouse you can have the origial photo, Minnie with a polk dot border, Minnie with her autograph, Minnie as a horizontal photo and a vertical photo. Even if you have only 20 original photos, you can end up with 50 or more on your disc depending how how many versions of each photo you save.

One year, we only bought two photos off of photopass and last year we bought the disc. I think it is worth it to use it in the park, then decide later if you want them or not.
