I'd like to take advantage of the Kroger gc deal and get some food/spending $$ for our trip next month. We have the dining plan and I've already stocked up on some goodies for kids (plush, shirts, etc). I plan to do all the frugal things like take food for breakfasts and snacks, bring sodas and water bottles, and probably make the kids at least share meals we have to pay for. Keeping that in mind, any idea what would be a good amt to have on hand? We are not souvenir ppl, so def won't go "overboard" on stuff. We are in the parks 4 days.

I'm not sure what the Kroger gift card deal is, but if you don't plan to purchase any souvenirs and have the dining plan already you may be better off not buying any Disney gift cards. If you buy too many, you are stuck using them at Disney.

My husband and I went in February for 7 nights and had the DDP. Now, we don't have kids so it may be different with them, but we didn't spend a dime of our own money (you know what I mean) to purchase food. The DDP had enough credits so we could use a snack credit each morning for breakfast (yogurt parfait, muffin, etc) and have one table service meal and one counter service meal. Since you get dessert & a beverage at each, we opted for items that we could snack on later like a cookie or grapes. We ended up turning down most desserts at table service restaurants.

If you plan on doing the food and wine festival, you could get at least a hundred or so on a gift card. It's much easier than trying to pay with cash because you'll end up with a bunch of change after going to each kiosk. I've bought a couple of $50 cards for that specific reason.

I'd set a limit for each child to spend. Maybe $30 each? Honestly, you are going to find you won't need to spend much more on food if you are on a meal plan. Taking some portable snacks with you to the parks and having a quick breakfast in the room will likely be enough.
