for your really good friends, or your siblings if you were going to give them a gift of cash?

I would say probably $50 unless it was a really big birthday and they were having a huge birthday party, then I might give more. I don't know why I would give more but I probably would :confused3

We don't buy gifts for adults' birthdays. What we normally do is either take the b-day person out to dinner or we host a dinner part for them at home. This goes for friends and family.

My best friend's b-day was yesterday. I gave her a $75 bracelet that fit in with her jewelry and was her style. She loved it, too. (Of course, it was marked down from $75 at Macy's and I got really lucky!)

For my sister, it is in the $100 range for the gift and usually involves an adventure. This next year for her b-day, we're doing Vegas.

My siblings and I long ago agreed that we would not do birthday presents unless it is a "big" birthday like a 40th. And for that we try to keep it low - like around $20. For close friends, I might buy lunch. I guess none of my close friends are really big on spending much money on birthdays.

I don't do presents for friends. For most of them, money is much tighter for them than it is for me and I don't want them to feel obligated to reciprocate.

For my sister, she and I have a contest to see who can get the most bestest gifts for each other for $50. We have each made some pretty good hauls, let me tell you!

Usually a card and a phone call. However, for my brother's 40th we were actually at home (from across the country) and I probably spent $40.

I spend:

Siblings - $20-30
Friends - I only have two friends I buy for - $10-20.

Total gifts: 4

25-35$ Usually we exchange williow tree angels right now for birthday's, Christmas we've come to an agreement of an ornament only exchange between adults.. it was getting TOO expensive to buy for everyone and then the kids!

I normally don't give cash.. I listen very carefully to what they say all year long and try to purchase something that I know they want - and would not purchase for themselves.. :)

My family instituted a rule last year and we only do presents for the kids birthday's and Christmas. We normally spend $50 per kid for bdays and Christmas.

I only buy bday gifts for one friend that I work with and this year I spent $75 because I got her something she was really, really wanting. But normally I would keep to around 40-50.

We don't do adult birthday gifts. Christmas is a gift exchange, everyone buys something and we play some kind of a game to see who ends up with what. That is a $50 gift.

Other than my best friend I only get my friends birthday gifts when invited. Usually for $50, unless it´s a big birthday, then I might go with $100. Last year my best friend turned 30. I bought her a pair of earrings that costed $75 and took her out to a $300 dinner in New York (we flew there for her birthday).

My siblings usually get something in the $40-75 range.

I don't have any friends that I buy birthday gifts for. Once in a while, I might buy them a bag of Reese's cups, but that's about it. Same with siblings. Just a phone call.

50-60 for siblings and my niece. 50 for friends (I only exchange with 2 of my friends) unless it is a special birthday- my aunt had an 80th birthday party so that gift was 80.00.
