help me out here guys-i want to go to WDW in early 2007, and i'm trying to convince my husband we could probably save a couple hundred dollars on a 4-night stay if we joined AAA. we can get memberships for both of us right now for 53.00 a year, and i'm sure our WDW package savings would more than pay for that, so tell me-if you booked through AAA, how much did it save you?

*was still recovering from trip to WDW this time last week* :(

AAA saved us over $600 on our 4 night MYW package with dining this December at the Poly  More than covered my $22 membership fee!!!

wooooooo that's awesome! talk about helping me make my case! LOL thanks!

Donya
*would rather be in WDW*

Here's my details:

7 night stay at the polynesian, 7 day exp. PH tix, and dining plan.

Disney Rack - 3875.42
AAA rate - 3520.04
savings 355.38

and just in case your curious the rate with the codes that just came out would have been $3577.98. Which is a good rate and wouldn't require a membership. However there was no availability at the poly for my dates and there's no guarantee there will be discounts available when you travel.

We saved around $300 for our 7 night stay at POFQ for January.

Another thing to point out about AAA is that it also saves you money in other areas. If you break down, of course they have towing. You may have towing on your insurance, but you have to pay the deductible first. If you run out of gas, AAA is there. Flat tire...they come change it for you. So many roadside benefits.

Also, discounted tickets for other amusement parks, movies, sporting events, shows, etc.

There are so many benefits to having AAA. I'd suggest doing a little research at www.aaa.com to find out some of the benefits and then go at your husband prepared not only to present the Disney benefit, but also the other benefits that you might not even know about.

CBR feb 2-7, 2 adults 5 day PH + dining.

disney price: 1625
AAA price: 1470

$155 dollar difference...which covered my $45 enrollment fee...still a good deal to me :)

off the regular rack rate for a total of $161. Not a fortune but better than nothing!

I believe it saved us around $200 for a 6night/7 day stay at POR. However, like others said, you save a lot in other areas too. It was worth it for us!

about $130 on a 6 night stay at POP. We have used the roadside assistance twice and have gotten a few discounts at other places too.

They'll come do these things as soon as they're convenient. A teacher friend of mine went out to her car mid-morning to get some things and realized that her tire was flat. She called AAA mid-day and asked for help. They, in turn, contacted their nearest sub-contractor -- a small service station owner who was very near -- and he promised he'd be there to fix her tire just as soon as he closed up for the day. Sure enough, he was there minutes after his own shop closed: right after 6:00.

I've never personally called AAA, and I have no idea whether this service is typical, but she cancelled her membership after this incident. If they make you wait six hours, well, what's the use? In her case, she was lucky that it happened AT SCHOOL so she had a safe place to sit and work to occupy herself. What if it'd happened on the road while she had a carful of kids?

I am a member, and I've used their discounts on several hotel and on theme park tickets. I don't think, however, I've made up the price of my membership over the last four years.

I saved $155 off the rack rate for 5 nights at CSR in April with my AAA discount. I could have gotten an AP rate at POFQ or CBR but the family wanted CSR. It was nice to have the option of getting the resort I wanted and still have a nice discount.

We also went to Charleston, SC for my adopted niece's baptism/communion/confirmation in March. We stayed at a Homewood Suites with a AAA discount. It saved me close to $400 off the rack rate for 5 nights.

Next July, we're getting 2 rooms at the Anaheim Marriott for a great rate. It's a package that includes 3-day DL passes and breakfast. Total price will be under $100/day per room. Typical price for a regular room alone at this Marriott runs about $199/night.

In August, I have Poly LVC reserved using a AAA discount. For the 4 nights that I have booked, we will save almost $370 off the rack rate.

Having the roadside assistance is a definite perk. TripTiks, AAA driving school, Show-Your-Card savings at Universal Studios and online discounts for places like Target.com all add to the value of the card.

I paid $56 for my "BASIC" membership back in the beginning of March. It was an offer that I received in the mail. A renewal will probably run me about $70. Still, it will be so worth it in hotel discounts alone.

I'm in the process of pricing MYW packages for Spring Break and early June. AAA is the cheapest by at least $200-300 per package. ::MinnieMo

sorry if this is a duplicate

It's too bad about your friend's experience. We have been AAA members for over 2 years. Also, my BIL is a sub contractor. I know he goes out for a call ASAP. I think your experience will depend on how reliable the sub contractors are in your area. If I was left hanging, like your friend, I would have told AAA (maybe she did?). I think they only want reliable people working for them and would drop a sub contractor if they were receiving complaints.

On the OT, we saved $186 on our package, 6 nights @ CSR with dining and tix for 2A, 1C.

This is for the ones who have saved around $300-$400 with AAA.

What time of the year did you go or going to go?

I have gotten quotes from AAA for a June 2006 trip and it seems the savings for AAA compared to Disney is $117. It's better then nothing, but just wondering what time of the year the ones who were saving that much were going.

For our AAA membership, I think it was around $30-$40, I can't remember. I do remember that when I renewed our membership I did it online and if I picked to have it renewed annually via a credit card I got so much off my membership price. Can't remember how much, but every little bit helps.

In my case, the CSR trip (saving $155) was during Regular Season for 5 nights. That amounted to a savings of $31/night with taxes.

Our DL trip to the Anaheim Marriott will be during DL's Regular Season as well. I happened to luck out on a great deal that you can't book at that hotel anymore. I think they had a very limited number of rooms available for the package and I booked 2 of them. :goodvibes

The trip to the Poly is during Value Season next summer for 4 nights. But one thing that you have to keep in mind is that a 15% savings at a deluxe resort premium room is going to show up as a big savings dollarwise but that the guest will also be spending a large amount even with the discount. Getting a $370 discount on the room sounds like a lot until you consider that the Poly LVC rack rate is $550/night during Value Season. :earseek:

If the $117 savings that you're getting is for a Value Resort during regular season, then you're getting a little more than one night free out of the 7 nights that you're there. That's not too shabby.

Has anyone received the AAA discount for a *2006* reservation?

I've called two times and both CMs said the AAA discount isn't available "YET" for 2006 reservations!?

I thought that sounded odd....??? Anyone hear anything different or know when it will be available? Neither CM knew when it would come up availalbe....???

Thanks!

The good part is, they have a AAA service center right there at the TTC, so if anything happens you won't have to leave the Magic.
It hasn't saved us anything as far as rooms, generally our passholder discount is better, and we're florida residents. But coming from out of state, it's probably good.
We do buy our passes through them, for a 10% discount, even 10% off of renewal discounted price.
AAA has saved us on half our trips there. One time we broke down on our way there, some two hours away. And they towed us to a real nice company. Even at 10pm at night. Luckily we ran into a friend, so we got a ride back home, and left a note on the van saying why it was there and our number. Last trip we managed to lock the keys in the car twice while at disney. The second time, the guy gave us a spare key, one that'll only open the doors because the real key has a chip. Ohh he also fixed the lock, one time Kari's co-worker tried to jimmy it himself and messed it up, so he popped the frame off and fixed it for nothing. When the van died, they sent out a real good company that gave us a great price to fix the van.
Just remeber, that if you do have any other service, it might be a good idea to check to make sure it's country wide and they don't limit thier service locally. We prefer to call AAA, even though our extended warrenty comes with most the same services.

Heck wait till just under a year till your planned trip, and sign up then. No need for two years, when all you need is a year. And it might be good enough to stick it out from then on.

You know, they don't ask you for a member number or anything, so you can call and get a quote with the AAA discount, and if it's something you want, ask them to put it on hold for you. Then call up AAA and sign up. Although personally, I've never been asked to show my AAA card or proof of residency or my pass. Maybe they just have it all in thier computers.

I have a reservation for 2/1-2/7 (2006) with AAA discount. I don't know how far out they go, but some AAA dates are available.
