How Many Rides on Pirates of the Caribbean are Enough? Now Completed 11/4/10

Just read through this TR. Loving it!

So how many rides on PotC ARE enough? ;)

I can't believe they had the hat!

And I'm really looking forward to hearing what you thought of Kona, as I've not eaten dinner there.

That is great you found the hat!:thumbsup2 My niece lost the disney spray bottle that has a fan on it. They gave her a new one! Since no one returned one to lost and found! Thats why disney is also great!

It certainly is--but it can also be kind of scary, when the current takes you kids away and you can't see them.

When DD and I were in Williamsburg, VA in 2008 we went to a waterpark. When we were on the lazy river there a little girl, about 6-8, got swept away from her mom. I heard the girl cry out, I stood up and grabbed her. I turned around and saw mom by the entrance. I had been near my DD and I had let her float away because I knew she would be ok. When the mom caught up to us, she says to her DD, "I thought I told you to wait for me?" I told her that the current at the entrances/exits were to swift for her DD NOT to be carried away.

Great report! Awesome pictures!!!

Waiting with anticipation to hear if you liked Kona. We've only been to Kona once for dinner-liked it, but 3 times for breakfast-LOVE IT. Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes rock!!!

I have always been impressed with Disney Lost and Found, but on my July trip I lost a watch but they don't have it. Either nobody found it or nobody turned it in. I know exactly where and when it was lost (between 5:15 and 5:30 PM at Blizzard Beach, in either the wave pool or the changing room).

Wouldn't it be fun to go through the Lost and Found to see what they have!

Can't wait to see what you thought of Kona Cafe:banana: When we went, I looked at the menu as we waited and both Jasmine and I thought....nothing here sounds good....boy were we wrong. It turned out to be one of our best meals the entire trip!

Well, that's coming right up!

To be honest--we don't know the answer. We could have ridden more!

I can't believe they had the hat!

I can't believe they had it, either. And we know it was his because he got some chocolate on it from pudding someplace early on in our trip and sure enough, this one had the chocolate in the right spot!

THat is awesome! I can't imagine all the stuff they find in the lost and found during a typical day, but to find that one hat in all of that and it be the right one is nothing short of amazing.

Those currents at the stairs are crazy--you are so right!

I hate they did not have your watch. I saw several people come in to claim lost cell phones. That would scare me--I would hate to lose mine--my whole life is in there!

I'd just love to see their organizational method in there--there has to be some type of organization--they ask us when and where we lost it, so it has be organized along the time, date, and location.

Walking on the grounds of the Polynesian resort, we just soaked up the Disney atmosphere that has been present since opening.

I love the Poly, and our trip in June 2009, we visited breakfast at Ohana. This was the perfect ending to a Disney trip--a character breakfast overlooking the Magic Kingdom.

This trip, we had a wish for a different flavor in mind: Kona Cafe.

I knew the first thing I would order when I got there. . .a lapu lapu.

Our server there was extremely attentive--the best server of the entire trip. Sweetie ordered:
Shrimp and Scallops - panko breaded shrimp and pan-seared scallops with sticky rice, roasted pepper sauce and spicy passion fruit-orange-guava sauce

She did not like it because of the sauce being too spicy. Dan and I split it, and it was delicious.

I had (and Sweetie):
Ginger Crusted Ribeye - with tamarind jus, mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, and stir-fried broccolini
Without a doubt, the best steak I have had ever at Disney, having eaten at Le Cellier, Yachtsman, and Narcoosee's. Sweetie says next time, she's getting that.

DH had (and Sweetie):
Teriyaki-style New York Strip - sirloin strip grilled with pineapple teriyaki glaze served with sticky rice and stir-fried broccolini

He liked his meal, but liked Sweetie's better.

For dessert, I had the Banana Chocolate Creme Brulee, which was A. MAZ. ING. Sweetie and Dan had the Kilauea Torte , which is really a volcano cake.

Stinky and Boo both had chicken noodle soup, mac and cheese, and an ice cream sundae. They both declared dinner a success.

Overall, th dinner at Kona Cafe was the best one we had. Our server was attentive, brought the chef out to discuss Sweetie's banana allergy and brought my dessert separate from hers (because of the banana). He even took this picture of us:

We left Kona full and satified. We did catch a couple of pictures there:

Then we walked over to the boat launch. We decided to take the boat over to the Magic Kingdom because we had already ridden the monorail and I thought they'd enjoy the ride.

Miscellaneous pictures from the ferry:

I love this one of the Grand Floridian.

Ah, what a great day. And we're back at my favorite park!

That is high praise for a steak, indeed!! Have you tried the strip at Flying Fish? I adore it, and the mussles appy there is the best. I could eat that as my main.

I have not had the strip at Flying Fish. I have the scallops and risotto, which is delicious, and the Jonah Crab Cake, which is IMO, the best crab cake I've ever eaten. . .and I live near Myrtle Beach and was born in Charleston. I know seafood well!

yay I'm glad you liked Kona!!!! It was a great meal when I ate there for dinner the one time! I think I had the same steak as you and I don't remember the dessert, this was a good 2+ years ago!

I'd thought about Kona for my upcoming trip but am having trouble working it in.

Maybe I should reconsider after that review! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and had good service, a winning combination to be sure.:goodvibes

Mmmmm that update is making me hungry and I don't even eat steak. :lmao:

So glad you loved Kona. I had the scallop/shrimp thing in 2008. Love shrimp. Love scallops. LOVE passionfruit! But the sauce was too sweet. My son had the steak, not sure which one, but it was excellent.

Kona sounds fabulous! Definitely putting it on my list of places to try. That Banana Chocolate Creme Brulee sounds so good!

YAY!!! One of my favorite restaurants, in my NEW favorite resort!!! (well, not that POR falls to a paltry 2nd place....it's just a "different" favorite!).

I'm still undecided on what meal to have there. Loved breakfast. But your dinner sounds yummo!! Love the group photo that your server took!

And LOVE the pic of the Lapu Lapu!:thumbsup2

.

I also have had my best steak ever at Disney at Kona. It is my favorite restaurant there.

My daughter keeps saying she wants to go back and have a steak there--the kids have finally started liking steak.

Funnily enough, the best meals I have had at Disney have all been in resorts. I feel like we get better attention from the servers there in a more laid back atmosphere.

Mmmmm that update is making me hungry and I don't even eat steak. :lmao:

LOL, I'm sure you'd eat some of that chocolate.

I think the spice did Sweetie in. But she did like the scallops. They offered for her just to have scallops (no sauce). She would have eaten that.

Kona sound yummy!:goodvibes

It was!

That Lapu Lapu was awesome!

I think now I don't have to worry about ripping your heart out with pictures of POR, lol. But I'm surprised yo made no mention of the Poly pics. . .

I also have had my best steak ever at Disney at Kona. It is my favorite restaurant there.

We'll be doing it again soon!

Perhaps because they don't have quite the same amount hoopla as the parks?

Goodness gracious! I was sooo behind. Let's see what I wanted to comment on (knowing I'll forget something).

So glad to see that Uncle Jeff received an award for his outstanding service for our country.

The tour group story at Toy Story Mania made me madder than mad. That kind of stuff ticks me off to no end. If I have to stand in line the entire time, then so should tour groups. I agree with you about the guests during Gay Days. Never had a problem with them at all and, like you, wouldn't have even known the were part of the Gay Days celebration had they not been wearing the red shirts.

All of Blizzard Beach pictures turned out great. We haven't gone to Blizzard Beach yet...only Typhoon Lagoon.

I was happy to hear that the hat wasn't gone forever. Yea for finding it at Lost and Found.

The food at Kona sounds yummy. May just have to put that as one of our "must do" restaurants for our 2011 trip.
