,,,And finally straight ahead to. . .I'm sure you've guessed it by now. . .

This picture says it all.....

I was poking around in here and wondering how I missed this installment; then I saw the date and realized that was the day we went to Schlitterbahn! So I hope I'm excused...:flower3:

I guess you are excused. :rotfl: I've been trying to get the next installment up, but the computer keeps on spazzing on me.

In honor of the Lapu Lapu I had just partaken at Kona Cafe, before I headed out of Pirates, I took this picture:

Bye, Pirates, I'll see you later.

We left there, and we went on towards Frontierland. Now, we knew we'd go over to the Haunted Mansion, which we did, but first it was time to try something new. Truth be told, there were only three attractions at Magic Kingdom we had never visited:

the Astro-Orbiter (which I will try when I am over my fear of heights)
the Hall of Presidents
and the Frontierland Shooting Arcade.

Where to go? Where to go?

Okay, now I was not wanting to deal with my fear of heights--the Tower of Terror was enough immersion in that, thankyouverymuch.

School was over--I didn't feel like being all to educational, either.

As a matter of fact, we all felt kind of destructive, ya know? Let's get rid of some varmits!

Apparently, though, dispensing firearms in Disney is a criminal offense. The kids had fun locking each other up for it.

In fact, Stinky looks a little too happy about jailing his sisters!

Of course, after we had fun there, we decided to visit those 999 happy haunts. This is one of the few times I did not take a picture of the Haunted Mansion. I absolutely love the architecture of that building, so I don't know why, but I did not. From there we went on to the attraction I love and hate at the same time. . .It's A Small World

It's a homage to Walt Disney and everything Disney. Cute little animatronic characters, fun music, vibrant colors. Who couldn't love this?

I only have one reason: the clowns.

It's no secret that I am terrified of clowns. Long story short, the first horror film I ever saw was Stephen King's It. Since then, I've been as afraid of clowns as Cosmo Kramer (if you don't know who he is, please get some old epsiodes of Seinfeld asap. I also seem to feel it's my obligation to lead my entire family into the boat for IASW. Which tend to put me right under these:

DSC_1628.jpg

Most people see them as innocent little toys. I see sinister beings ala Chucky and at any moment they are going to come to life and chase me right out of the ride. In my mind I know I'm being irrational. In my heart, I still have the nightmares.

No Astroorbiter for me today, I've dealt with enough fears.

Well, after my near miss with the clowns, we decided it was a good idea to go here:

Does anyone remember what I had for dinner? Here's a hint for anyone interested--and yes it had been well over 2 hours since it, but a Lapu Lapu and the Teacups don't mix. I was not too ill, but I did not feel well. Add to that we went on to Space Mountain :headache:, and I think all I wanted was a Coke. We stopped by the Lunching Pad to get some sodas, and waited a while for the mild nausea to pass. We did all of this during Spectromagic, and it was a great way to pass that time--everyone was at the parade.

This was a great evening, which can be summed up by this picture--beautiful day in my favortie place:

DSC_1650.jpg

We then walked up Main Street. DS wanted to see Wishes one more time before they changed the fireworks, so we decided to go up to the Main Street Railroad Station and sit and nurse our sodas a bit.

Coming up--ending our night.

Great TR! I'm enjoying it. Have you read Kingdom Keepers yet? It's really a book for about 4th and 5th graders but it's about the Magic Kingdom. I will tell more about the plot if you haven't heard of it, but let me tell you, you will definitely not ride IASW with the same relaxed state of mind...pretty much the whole ride will be like your moments under the clowns.

No, I haven't read Kingdom Keepers. And now knowing that, I don't know if I want to ride IASW ever again! :scared1: I really don't ride it with a relaxed state of mind. I like it okay, but there is a funny feeling I get on the ride. IDK why. I always assumed it was because I don't like clowns and I knew they were coming up!

AH, now I know why the boys were so bummed IASW was closed during our trip (they've read Kingdom Keepers). :lmao:

Bummer about the lapu lapu residuals but it sounds like you rebounded well and all in all, a really nice night!

I've never even though about going to the Shooting Arcade. Was it crowded? Sorry about the teacup nausea. That ride can make me sick no matter what I had for dinner. Beautiful shot of the castle. I love Magic Kingdom evenings!

Ok...

#1 I CANNOTwait for my Lapu Lapu on 9/22.

#2 The teacups make me nauseous without alcohol.

#3 Great update! Nausea aside it sounds like it was a wonderful evening. :goodvibes

It's not the height on AstroOrbitors that bothers me, it's the spinning. To paraphrase an awesome trip report "How many rides on AO are enough? 1!!!"

Your photo of the castle: NICE!

My DH and oldest son did the frontier shooting gallery for the first time this year, too!

It's actually a really cute book and those of us who love MK would enjoy it because they talk about things and places in the book and I felt like I was right there with them.

Yes, I imagine they would be bummed out with it being closed if they've read the books. It really does make the whole ride more thrilling :)

Word to the wise, just in case, always smile at the dolls :)

I cannot ride those teacups....I cannot stand and watch the teacups....I avoid the teacups like the plague....:rotfl2: Jasmine spun them so hard in 1998 it ruined me from then on:lmao:

nice update!!! I tried to drink that Lapu Lapu drink on my birthday and ended up sharing it with my brother. I don't think I would have walked out of Ohana if I drank it all. I tasted nothing but a little wee bit of pineapple and mostly the alcohol. I wonder if that's how they make them all the time??!!

It was a nice night. I hate that IASW was closed for your last trip. It's a must-do, ya know?

The Shooting Arcade was not crowded at all. The kids walked right up, pu in their quarters and played away!

Usually I'm fine with the teacups. That night was something else, lol.

#1 Have a sip in my honor. I'll probably still be in a faculty meeting.

#2 Sorry about that.

#3 It was! :goodvibes

I think I'll leave the Astro orbiters alone next trip as well.

At the dolls? Hmmm. . .that might freak me out if I read it. But now I wanna!

LOL, I can see that--I refuse to get in a teacup with dh for that reason alone.

Dan drank it with me, but I don't remember being able to taste too much alcohol. :confused3 People complain about South Carolina and their use of minibottles all the time, but it does make for consistency in the amount of alcohol in drinks.

I love Wishes. It is without a doubt my favorite fireworks show at Disney. Having seen Hallowishes, Holiday Wishes, Summer Nightastic (the fireworks from Pirate and Princess, really), Illuminations, and Fantasmic, I can say that Wishes is my favorite. Knowing that, and knowing this was our last shot at Wishes for the rest of our trip, didn't, as I said earlier, walk up Main Street, but took the train from Toontown. I realize this is what we did, because tucked in the middle of these pictures is a shot of the Barnstormer. It was out of focus and all, but we apparently got on it.

And that is where my memory kicks in. We took the railroad from Toontown to the Main Street Station. Instead of getting off and leaving, we stayed at the platform.

While waiting for the fireworks, DH was looking at YouTube videos on his phone with the kids.

Before long, though, we were at a safe distance for my son to enjoy to fireworks.

The best thing about being there was we were some of the first people out of the park. When I knew the music for WIshes was almost over, I gathered everyone up, and we walked down the steps and out. We were some of the first at the busstop, and rode on home.

It was a full day, but it was a great one.

Coming up. . .Soarin' Stampede.

I wasn't freaked out by it...but I think I'll ride IASW with a different eye next time. It was a very easy and enjoyable read! Basically, the villains try to take over MK and some kids are on a mission to keep that from happening. But there is some neat "history" about the park. I'm not sure if any of it is true, but it makes you think "is that really in there" or "is that how that came to be." I thought it was pretty fun!

I LOVE WISHES!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to go back and see it again. Now, I love Fantasmic too, but something about Wishes just makes me smile uncontrollably. I swear, I look like a nutcase but I can't help it. I just love that show and can't wait to see it again! And, it looks like your viewing spot at the train station was perfect! Could you hear the music well?

I agree there is something extra special about Wishes. Always makes me teary eyed. Though I did think the Summer Nightastic fireworks were fantastic! I'd seen them at a Pirate and Princess party too. I love how they make it look like the castle is on fire.

We could hear the music--it was great. I likes being there.

I will certainly have to read that book now!

Definitely read it! DS looks like he's about the right age to enjoy it too! And, I think I've found a new viewing spot for those fireworks! Thank you :thumbsup2
