We started out with 100 BLT, and within a few months knew we needed more.
We did a 150 point add on at SSR. The 250 points will cover our 3-4 trips a year in a studio.

375 points here, all at BLT. We really enjoy getting away from work, and all the household chores. When We are in Disney We relax, and become kids again ourselves. We have 3 small children, ages 7, 3, and 1. We plan to buy more and top out around 600 points in the next 5 years.

It'll be 200 pts for us when we close on our first add-on (150 BCV, 50 BWV add-on). I never think of it as how many points do we need but rather how much annual dues are we comfortable paying.

160 but we would love to purchase more. Went in thinking we would go every other year, but naturally want to go every year. Just waiting for that ship to come in! :cool1:

Up till the end of 2010 we owned 585 points at 2 resorts. Now we own 210 at just one resort.

Last Wednesday I just bought first time 160 points, I wanted 200, but will add on 100 over the next year. I think 260~300 would work just right for me.

but then again........:dance3:

We own 500 points and still borrow every year. Do not have to figure out banking deadlines this way.

We own 655 points at VWL, SS, AK, and Aulani. We have no problems using our points. We will probably add on again if either GF and Poly DVC become available.

Hi,
I am at the beginning of my research of DVC and am trying to determine how many points would be most optimal for my family. This is a very useful poll and the discussions are most helpful.

I was just wondering if people could also add not only the number of points they have, but how often they go, how many rooms they usually book and for how long.

I myself am currently leaning towards eoy trip to WDW in a 2-bedroom at BLT for 7-10 days. So am considering buying approximately 220ish points (will allow me some left overs if i want to take a bigger room once in a while or an extra vacation)

What time of year?

535 points in 3 contracts (2 at BCV and a small one at SSR).

With the children grown, we have been struggling the last few years to use all of the points. This year I gave away 500 points, almost all of which were banked from last year.

We currently have 275 BLT points. That has worked out great for us so far. We will probably buy another contract for HHI, but we need to check it out first. We want to have a beach vacation every year, but unlike BLT, I will not buy HHI site unseen. I'm not so worried about not liking the resort as much as I want to make sure there is enough interest in HHI to justify the 18 hours of driving (down and back) every year.

370 points @ VWL
A 200pt and a 170pt both resale

210 OKW points and I'm in a constant state of borrowing from the next year! I would like 300 points but I've resisted the constant urge to add on, I simply do not want to pay any more maintenance.

It's already been over 10 years and I think as my son gets older there will come a time when the 210 points will be just enough for me and hopefully the grandchildren!

We have 635, all at OKW. We worked with 325 for 17 years, but now we have two DGC and like to have everyone in a GV. Those cost a lot of points! Then we go a few additional times each year, too.

We *only* have 150 at BWV but it has worked out to be more than plenty. We don't want or need bigger rooms than studio size and we go in January when points are at their lowest.

150 gets us 10+ nights in a studio every January and if we're careful, every few years enough of the extra points add up where we can take someone with us and let them have their own studio room!

I'm very happy we didn't spring for more points....and now that we're able to do a one time purchase of 15 extra points to put towards a trip we no longer even talk about buying more. LOL

We started with 250 points, thinking we'd stay a week in a 1 bedroom. (It's just the two of us.) We then realized we were perfectly comfortable in a studio, and began staying 12 nights with the same points.

After a stay at BCV, we were so happy with the resort that we decided to buy a small add-on contract of 127 nights. We figured we'd be able to stay here every third year.

Several years ago, we began inviting family and close friends to join us for one of our two weeks. We'd get a studio for 6 nights, and a 2-bedroom for another 6 or 7 nights. When we started doing this, we really began borrowing points.

We've recently added on 150 points at BLT to allow us to catch up a little to what we're actually using each year. We also wanted BLT instead of adding on at SSR or BCV to get an 11-month booking priority there. We have an 8-month old granddaughter, and anticipate lots of trips where we'll want to stay at a MK resort.

We're probably still in borrowing mode to a small degree, right now. I'm not sure when we'll be tempted to add more points. Right now we're faced with the plight of school teachers and those who travel with school teachers. We can only visit WDW when the kiddies are out of school (aka, the expensive seasons). Our trips to date have been during the summer, over Christmas, or Spring Break. However, that may be changing in the next few years. This year is # 33 of teaching, and retirement discussions come up more and more frequently. My job is more flexible -- I can take my vacation whenever I want to. So, if we can start travelling during Adventure, Choice, or Dream seasons, our same number of points will go much farther.

We have 225pts. (SSR and AKV) - We only go once a year and stay between 5 nights (usually if we take other people and book a 2BR) and 9 nights (in a 1BR). This seems to be plenty for us.
