Wow...we only have 100 points. We love Disney, but we also own another non-DVC timeshare that comes with 3 weeks a year and we like to see other parts of the world too. We are also DCL addicts and lately I like to cruise more than I like the parks, and its cheaper to pay cash than use points. So our 100 gets us a few nights here and there when we need our fix! :goodvibes

That's what renting points is for! :cool1:

We have 705 points 445 BCV, 210 BLT & 50 AKV
Members since 2002 and we use every point:cool1:

We own 275 - 175 SSR and 100 AKV. It is perfect for us - gives us the sense that we are getting a great value for what we spent. If I was spending more in dues or had put more into it, I think I'd be frustrated - especially with the deep discounts CRO has been offering. We stay in studios and get about 20 nights a year, which is plenty of Disney for us. We bought when the kids were 6&8 and in elementary school and now they are teens.

500. We started with 200 SSR, added 150 AKV and then added 150 SSR (resale because we found we did not have enough and love the THV's!) We use all points at this point. We like to stay at the THV's with our family of 4.

We started with 100 BCV pts in 2009 and added on 150 SSR points a few months ago. I think that will do it for us. We use every one of those points, are in borrowing mode, and have a line of friends/family we could rent to, but also know that we are getting read to branch out to other places more. I think the 250 total is perfect for us.

575 points, 285 at BLT and 290 at SSR. We usually do 2 bedroom for 10 - 11 nights. My DD's have been using points for 7 ni in a studio. We have booked THV for 10 nights in Feb using 2010 - 2011 points and will bank BLT to do a nice trip (or 2) at BLT in 2013. We also like to travel other places and love cruises. We usually do 1 Disney vacation a year and 1 "other" vacation a year.

We have 220 which is the perfect amount for us I think. If we had anymore we probably wouldn't be able to use them all every year since it costs a fortune to fly the 6 of us down there!!! At this point in our lives once a year is fine. When the kids grow up we can use them for multiple trips staying in studios!!! That is..until we are grandparents I guess! It's hard to say at this point if we'd add on again.

800 points, all at BLT. BLT was THE reason I joined DVC. I expect to use them for two one-week trips per year at BLT in 2BR with MK view.

We are blessed to say we fall into the 1000+ category and use every single point for ourselves and our family members. I have never rented any and have no plans to use my membership in that way.

We started off in 1998 with 210 pts at HHI and have added on several times slowly and made our way into the 1000+ category.

Thank you for this post, it has been fun to read all of the individual thoughts on how to best utilize DVC..that is what makes it the best timeshare product out there!!!

250 points here which typically gets us a total of 2 weeks in studios spread over 2 or 3 trips per year. Because we're going to Europe / DCL Med this summer we're going to be banking 1/2 of our annual allotment this year to use in 2012 (hopefully for some sort of quick trip to WDW at some point + a trip to Aulani & DL in the summer). We'll have to see if we can afford the park tix or not. The MYW prices are absurd.... I would love to add on another 50 or so points tho. May check out the Aulani incentives on our DCL this summer to see if it's worthwhile...:rolleyes1

315 points, split 150 at BWV and 165 at AKV. We chose the number because it would let us continue to vacation in the pattern we had been following before we bought DVC. We're now borrowing pretty heavily from next year.

We hadn't counted on the fact that my DSF (new, not my SF when we purchased) would turn out to love WDW golf vacations and would want to come with us at least once a year. We also hadn't counted on the fact that several of our friends would figure out that DVC is an amazing deal, and ask to travel with us. So basically, we've started needed a 2 bedroom villa every single time we go...

We've thought really seriously about adding on. We enjoy WDW, and generally go every year, but we also enjoy doing a lot of other travel, particularly cruises. We also love Hawaii and have been considering getting a timeshare there, and while we're considering Aulani, we're not going to buy until we've stayed there and tried it out.

Anyway, we could easily end up using about 500 points, which is what we think we may eventually end up with. (If they do a GF DVC, we'll certainly do the add on.)

We have 160 which was the minimum buy in at the time. Wish we had more though!
