DH and I started with 200 in '00 - VB.

Did a 100 point add-on at VWL in 01....

Just started paperwork for a 200 point add-on at BCV.

So that will be 500 points per year. We know we have enough vacation time available to cover it all. Or we could both go on a cruise in a cat 4 stateroom and not have to borrow.

But we talk about another add-on when SSR opens, or maybe an OKW resale.

Are we nuts? Heaven knows we are very fortunate and we are so grateful for our ability to afford this! But we wonder...

How many points are enough for most WDW lovers???

Right now I have 150 VWL and 75 BCV. That's not enough. However, the dues is what keeps me from adding on more. As soon as I pay off all these PLUS loans.......watch out!

My mom & Dad have 700 points and that was not enough until my wife and I bought 250 for us. That gives us enough for a cruise and a week at VB and then a week and Cristmas at the world and then my mom and dad have some for them.

Can you really have enough points?

If I ever find that we have enough points, I'll let you know.;)

For me, however many it would take to have a GV 365 days a year and just live there!

We have 515 points between BCV and OKW. Yes it is enough. Lots we can do with that many points. We should be thankful that we have that many. No need to consider buying more. No No No. Then why do I keep visiting the Timeshare Store web site to check the listings?

Indeed, we have a good chunck of points, but we are going to add on at SSR. The only question is how many!

You will know you have enough points when:

You can stay in a 1bedroom year round without having to ever check-out.

This is my own personal definition and others may have a differing opinion, but you asked. If you ever get to that point, please consider adopting me.....lol

Not that I've done this ;) but the weighted average number of points you need for a 1 week stay is 125, so depending on how many weeks vacation you are entitled to at work would be best run at how many points is enough.

Based on that theory I am 125 points shy of where I "should be", we have 250, but could really use 375 since we both get 3 weeks vacation. :teeth:

Started with 300 BCV and have added twice, now up to 600, all at BCV with the same use year, it seems to keep things simple that way.

But I don't think I'll ever have enough.

I'm not even an official member of DVC just yet and I know that you can never have enough points! :p

Actually, it all depends on your own family situations. Because initially, for us, 125-150 points would be enough for the traveling that we'll be doing. Now, in a couple of years....look out! :p

Sheesh....I hope that I can find a good resale contract soon. I can't wait to hear...."Welcome Home!"

I'm with you on that one. DH figured it out for me once, told me the price & I looked at him & said, "yeah, what's the problem". :p

We both want to retire near the Orlando area anyway, so I told him it would actually save money in the long run because we wouldn't have to save for the Disney vacations!!!

Wouldn't that just be the best - Disney 365 days/24 hours a day!! :bounce:

According to Caskbill's DVC Planner, it would take 12,914 points to stay all of 2004 in a BCV 1BR. (But then 2004 is a leap year!) At $84/pt, that would cost only a smidgen over $1 million. And your monthly dues payments would be $4272. Shades of "Bonfire of the Vanities"!

I know I'm in the minority, but we have 350 points and it's perfect for us. While I had lots of vacation time (grad student) we stayed in a studio and borrowed a lot. Now that I am working full time with only 2 weeks vacation we can splurge on a 1 bedroom once a year or so and catch up from the point defecit over a few years. I suspect over the next several years we may even take some family with us and when the eventual children come along we will have enough for a week in a 2br in just about any season (which was the goal all along and why we have the number of points that we do). Anyway, as tempting as the new BWV points were when they came out, we talked about it and we really do have the perfect number of points for us.

I used to think that I couldn't live without a trip to WDW every couple of months (I think our record was 5 in one calendar year) but I love my new job compared to grad school and don't feel burned out so often now that I can take weekends off during the year like a normal person. We also take weekend getaways here and there and visit family around holidays, and although it will be a year before we make it back to WDW again (we last went NYE last year and are going NYE this year), I am very much looking forward to the trip, splurging on a 1br and the new and exciting things that will be open since the last time we were there.

I think it's possible to have enough points and even to have enough points be many fewer points than what some other people have. We do love disney but I think that absence makes the heart grow fonder and we will appreciate it all the more now that we are not going as often.

ArneyVee - you are so right! :) LOL :p

I think the 550 points we have are enough. Right now buying more is not a problem, but if I retire soon, the monthly dues will become a factor as time goes on.
