I have a 1 gb card that hold probably 650 pictures. I thought this would be enough for two weeks, but now I'm unsure.

How many pictures do you usually take on vacation and how long is your vacation?

Thanks

digital we use lots less than film since you can discard those where aunt ethel's wig is askew or little freddie has a finger up his nose...sounds like you have plenty and can always down load to a cd or snapfish or what ever if need be.

usually i take about 1 1/2 roll ( 36) a day unless it is fireworks or what ever but probably only 10 digital and don't take a camera everyday since i dont' want to lug it ( last time was 9 days so took camera on select days but we've been to wdw before and don't have little kids in tow)

for my graduation trip in 2002 ( a 6 day stay) between myself and my two best friends we used about 8 rolls of 24-exposure film...may seem a bit excessive but i am a major picture person....i'll take pictures with or without someone in them (even though that very much annoyed my friends)

but those pics of freddie with his finger up his nose are the ones tha really are priceles lol...

just like the ones of tots being terrorized by the characters....(ps dont think of me as evil....im just thinking of a pic of a friend of mine crying hysterically while standing a very safe foot and a half away from a Space Age Donald Duck) those are the pictures you treasure :rotfl:

I just recently purchased the 1 GB memory card - we are planning our 1st trip to WDW with the kids - DD3 & DS4 - and I didn't want to miss any photo ops. I think with 650 pics available I should be okay but I can be quite a pic. taker if the moment gets me so I looked into my options on this trip. W/O breaking the bank - I didn't want to buy 4 1GB cards just in case :rotfl2: so I did a little research. If you run out of room on your memory card while at WDW there are several places you can burn a disc onsite...be aware that this can get expensive - I think the price I was quoted was approximately10-12.00 - If you have transportations available...we are driving...you can go to Walmart right outside WDW and burn a disc for under 5.00 - again I think the price was 2.99 for each disc. I was also told the disc holds approx. 100-125 pictures (not sure why so few but repeating what I was told) so adjust pricing accordingly if you need to burn more than 1 disc. Hopefully this will help you. I found another thread similar to this and some people reported taking 4000! pictures so I guess it depends on the photographer too. Have fun and be sure to post the good ones!

I am a huge shutterbug. The last time we went, I took way too many pictures and it was before buying my digital, but I ended up taking 1354 pictures. A bit excessive but hey, it was my sons first trip. Plus I have 2 huge amazing scrapbooks with about 1/2 the pictures in it.

I think 1GB is a great start. You can always delete the bad pictures and burn them for about 12.00 in the parks. Much cheaper then buying another card.

My DH is a picture taking fool! We took over 1100 pics on our last trip in May. We brought our laptop with us though to unload our digital camera every night so that we could take more high quality pictures! Especially on a digital camera, it's best to take more high quality if you have the space on your card. It just makes for better pics! Hope this helps!

Ok, I though that for regular 4x6 prints 4.0 mp is an ok setting.

With that setting I can take 781 pictures; with 4.4 mp I can take 709 pictures and on 5.0 mp I can take 636 pictures.

Which picture setting do you think is best?

The 4.0 will be perfect actually. Our camera is only a 3.1 which is why we always take high quality. The 4.0 will give you very clear pictures.

That sound like enough pictures...I don't have a digital camera yet, but I have lots of film...enough for almost 500 pictures.

We've been to WDW before and I have two photo books from each trip.
My pictures include a roll or two of the resort that we stay in. This time we will be at the Pop Century and then the Wilderness Lodge, so I need twice as much for the resort pixs.

Snap away...and say cheeese :teeth:

We just bought a 2gb for our trip in sept. we are also bringing about 6 rolls of film for the other camera just incase. We also hired a photographer to take pictures of us at the Wl and at MK cause we never get pictures together. Exsessive maybe but I will just delete the ones I dont want. :maleficen

Thanks for mentioning other camera. I will have to take our 35mm just in case. Every trip I have ever taken something has happened to my camera. Maybe nothing will happen if I have a back up camera. :)

For me, 1gb would not be enough. We also take short video on our digital which uses alot of memory. Instead of getting another 1gb card, I got a PSD to upload my pics to. Transcend Digital Album
I know it would of been cheaper to just burn a disc while down there, but now I don't have to worry about it. I can snap all I want and just clear my card at night.

We were there from a Sunday afternoon to Friday morning, and we took over 800 digital pics. The kids each had disposable cameras too.

Have fun...happy picture taking! :teeth:

January trip 7 days/6 nights (4 days @ WDW): 552 pictures (digital)

April trip 5 days/4 nights (5 days @ WDW): 884 pictures (digital)

October trip 10 days/9 nights: I'll bet 1200+ (more if I get my digi Rebel I've been drooling over....)

You would be the best judge of the number of pictures you'll take, on average, each day, or for your full stay.

I take a about 100 pictures a day. However, a co-worker showed me his pictures from a week in WDW, and he had about 45 for the whole week. Everyone is different.

I will offer these thoughts.

I have used a digital camera for several years, and I now take as many pictures as I can.
I figure that one of them will be good (especially with kids - The best shots sometimes come when I tell them I am done taking their picture)
I don't delete them while on vacation (The screen is to small for me to see them clearly).
I bring the camera home, and move All the pictures to my PC.
My new digital camera allows me (without a flash) to take about 2 pictures per second. So if the kids are outside in light, I take about 6 pictures of each Character encounter.

If you can, I would buy another Memory Card.
I would be the largest card you can. If a large memory card is too much $, then a smaller one, for backup purposes will still give you comfortable buffer. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend or co-worker.
You don't want to spend your time, either at the parks, or when you are tired at the end of day, performing Digital Camera - Memory Card management.

I always bring a second card and Never use it. However, I always think it is better to have it and not use it, than to need it and not have it.

we, I mean I-- DH thinks I'm nuts, but hey I need them for the scrap book!!!-- take 2- 35mm film rolls a day, and fill 2 516mb memory cards every two days(download that to the 30G photo memory HD I got) and start over. I end up with about 1500-1800 pics depending on how many fireworks/illuminations we go to , I tend to go crazy there, cuz I never know what will turn out. Since the Digital camera, I print fewer pics cuz we can pick and choose, but when we (meaning I) used to take only 35mm, it was 20-25 rolls for 7 day trip-- but we would only develop them 2 a week until I got anxious and took the rest in without DH knowing about it :teeth: Hey, they are memories that will last FOREVER!!!!

We also use a digital and I bring 3 different cards with, you can get some great deals on line and also local store with rebates.

It never hurts to have more then one. :flower:
