We will be in Disney mid summer with a DD 1 & DD 2.5 for nine days. I am trying to plan now to make sure I buy and pack enough clothes. How many outfits does everyone think kids will go through a day...2? 3? Also do kids get dressed up for TS dinners? All suggestions welcome.

My kids at time of travel will be barely 3, 4.5, and turning 8. I think they will need at least two sets a day. We are staying off site with a washer and dryer in our condo so that will help. I still think I will take about 8 outfits per child for our 7 day stay though.

I usually bring 2 outfits per day for our DD who is not quite 2. We did this for a a trip to Mexico last summer & found it too much as we kept her in her diaper most of the time. But we will not do this for our trip this year as she's getting a little older.
That being said, we also bring half the amount of dresses or dressy outfits to the amt of days we are staying. For example we are leaving for WDW in 6 days & will be there for 6 nights, so we will bring 3 dresses.
Remember there is always a washer and dryer nearby.

We didn't need a change of clothes for anyone except the baby at the time. She was sick and NEEDED a change of clothes. Other than that, our extra clothes weren't used. So, I would think that with two outfits a day, you should be good. On the days you don't use the extra outfit, you'll have more for days you change more than once.

When I went last July I packed 2 sets of outfits for each day. We were there for 5 days and we used them all. And did a load of laundry too.

We took DS down at 14 months at the end of June and he definitely needed two outfits a day because of the heat...but, I'd suggest bringing about 12 outfits/child and doing some laundry halfway through your trip so you don't have as many pieces of luggage.

We didn't dress DS up per say, but I didn't put him in gym shorts either...he usually wore either cargo shorts or denim shorts and a polo shirt for our dinners.

My kids are a bit older now (5 and 7) but when they were little I would make sure I had 1 extra outfit per child per day. We rarely needed them but it was nice to have them when we did.

As for dressing up, unless you are going to signature restaurants you don't need to dress up at all - whatever you wear in the parks is appropriate in the restaurants.

In Sept we went thru 2 sets pp /day ( and we had a washer and dryer in our room)

I am packing two outfits for everyone per day. We are going in a few weeks, and it will be hot. So we plan on taking the kids back to the hotel in the afternoon for a nap or to swim. I will not want anyone to put their sweaty clothes back on from the morning. My daughter spits up a lot so I packed her 3, which is only one more than we go through a day at home, lol! She has GERD so I can't keep the formula off of her clothes no matter what. ANd my son is a toddler who can't stay clean and we paid for PhotoPass- I don't want a dirty toddler in every picture.

I also am packing nicer outfits for evenings since we have adr's at character meals and nicer restauraunts, but by that I mean collared polos and sundresses-nothing too fancy. HTH.

Even with older kids (14, 11 & 7) I always needed 2 outfits per day. The older girls may have just changed tops for the evening, but the rest of us did the whole thing. Someone always had something on their shirt, and with the am. of pictures I take, it would drive me nuts to see the same stain on many pictures. Just me being a little anal-retentive!!

I agree with previous posters about bringing 2 sets per day for the summer. It gets really hot and sticky espcially with sunscreen so a change is a good way to keep your kids comfortable (same for parents, I went through at least 2 tank tops per day when we went in June because of the humidity and heat) I would also reccomend bringing extra socks (if your kids are wearing sneakers)

I would say at least 2 sets a day - or you can plan on doing laundry (or both!). On the other hand, when we were there last in January, my almost 2 1/2 DD decided that she only wanted to wear her princess dress!:cutie: I told my DH that it was my dream someday to take my DD to Disney and only wear her princess dresses, but NEVER did I think it would be that trip when she was 2!! I did bring laundry soap to wash in the sink, good thing too - considering we had a #2 blowout!!

As a FL resident, I just want to stress that if you are going during the summer (or even early fall/late spring) months, then you are going to want some extra clothes. I'm planning on 2 outfits per day for my young boys AND myself and my husband because we are going to go back to our hotel mid-day to get out of the heat and take a break. I guarantee that our clothes are all going to be sweaty and icky and we're going to want to change into something fresh for the rest of the afternoon/evening.;)

I've switched over to a new system for packing that another DISboarder suggested that works really well for us.

She suggested labeling (with a black sharpie) a 1 gallon ziploc bag, and in that bag goes the whole outfit, socks, undies, shirt, shorts, and you label it like this:

Annabelle
Sunday Morning
Casual outfit

Evelyn
Sunday Morning
Casual outfit

Annabelle
Sunday Afternoon
Dressy Outfit

Evelyn
Sunday Afternoon
Dressy Outfit

and so on-you get the picture. You are staying a lot longer than we normally do, we usually do 6 days at the max and typically do 4, you might want to pack 5 days and on day 5 do a laundry day where you wash, dry, and repack the ziplock bags for the next four days.

My DH (who thought it was weird that I was labeling and packing all these ziplocs) absolutely MARVELLED at how much easier it made getting ready to go into the parks (he had his ziplocs, too, but they just had underwear and socks for each day, his stuff was hung up, as were mine).

The best part was that I sort of overpacked, I had two casual outfits per day plus one dressy one, and when we got back I just pulled out the unused ziplocs and put the clothes right back in the DD's closets. I put all the ziplocs (now empty) back in the suitcases for our next trip, so it's not wasteful.

As to having dress up clothes, we like to dress up at Disney, not all the time, but yes, we enjoy it. Nobody will look at you twice with nice clothes on, and we enjoyed how great our pictures came out when we looked smart :).

We were there in mid-April with our two kids, who are almost exactly the same age as yours. I packed 3 outfits per day plus PJ's, swimsuits, etc. Most days, the kids wore 2 outfits per day, but we did occasionally need that third outfit.

Also, keep in mind that you will probably want a spare outfit for each in your park bag so that they can splash in the fountains and stuff. The fountains were some of my 2 1/2 year olds favorite things! I let him SOAK himself and then just put him in dry clothes and on we went.

As for dressing up for TS - I didn't "dress them up" in terms of bringing their fancy clothes and stuff, but I did bring things that would take cute pics. I did put them in fresh clothes for our TS dinners.

Have a great time! Our kids absolutely LOVED the trip. I never would have imagined they could have enjoyed so much being that young, but they really, really did.

This is our 1st time going as a family with kids, but my plan was to bring enough clothes for 1 outfit a day and 2 outfits for special days. I plan on doing some laundry 1 or 2 times while there during nap/swim time. We do this when we go on vacation anywhere else, so hopefully it will work for Disney.

I'll also have a spare for each child in the diaper bag.

I must be the odd one here, but I certainly didn't bring that many outfits. We went for 9 days last year (spent 8 days prior visiting family). I think I brought about 12 outfits per child and did laundry at MIL's the day before we went to Disney.

We're going for 11 nights this year and I packed 12 outfits per child plus a few extra shirts. There is no way I would have the space to pack 24 or 36 outfits per child (2-3 per day as most seem to be suggesting). :confused3

I brought some detergent packets, so I will do laundry if necessary. But we didn't have any issues last year. We actually had items that were never worn. We did usually go back to the resort around 11:30am and didn't venture back out until about 5:00, so we were not outside sweating all day. We showered and tossed our clothes into the hamper when we came back from the parks each night.

This is something I'm just starting to think about now (even though we still have almost 7 weeks until we leave). We're going to be at Disney for nine days and then heading to my parent's place near Tampa for another week. I had planned on doing laundry there. I was figuring on about 15 outfits each plus some extra shirts and one princess dress / pirate costume.

I didn't think about the trip down, though until yesterday. We will be on the road for 3 days as well each way. I am hoping that I can get away with one or maybe two outer outfits each for the kids on the way down since they'll be sitting in the car all day and not likely to get too dirty. I was really hoping to not have to do laundry at Disney, although when we go to a resort up north later in the summer I always do laundry after the 5 day point. :laundy:

I plan for 2 outfits/day but also do laundry at least once, maybe twice in the week. I actually don't mind doing laundry on vacation. I usually park myself at the pool with a book and have 2 hours of peace and quiet :)
