How many of you have Spouses/SO's that also run?

Dh is the runner, not me. I'm just kind of waddling my way through this training.:lmao: He really started to enjoy running when he was in the police academy. Unfortunately, our schedules don't really allow him to run all that much. We just joined a gym that has child care, so he can go on the treadmill. But he really wishes he could run in the mornings before work. (I'm at work until 8am, then he leaves for work. So he can't run because of our kids.)

When he was in the academy, his whole class ran a 10K. The next year, he wanted to run it again on his own and wanted me to do it with him. Pff, yeah right! Last year I said I'd try, but I failed yet another C25K. So I didn't run that one either. He is so proud of me for sticking to this training for the Princess, so supportive of me doing this on my own and having alone time, and I can't imagine doing this without his love and support. Now that I have the higher mileage under my belt, I promised him that we'll run the 10K together this fall! He's so much faster than me though. I run 15 minute miles while he's around a 10 minute mile.

My dh and I run together. I slow him down, but he is sweet to run with me;)

Ditto that. He never made me feel the slightest bit ashamed of having to go so slow, and we crossed our marathon finish line hand in hand. It's one of the best things we've ever done (you know, except for the three great kids).

my boyfriend has done a half before (without really training for it ha) and he walked it...but that was that. i think him doing it once has helped him a understand it way more than a usual non-runner would, and he's totally supportive - but that doesn't stop him every once a while from little things like "do you HAVE to workout out tonight", which requires me to dig deep into my self-discipline. But he totally means well, and he's really supportive of me, especially on race day. Sometimes I wish he would run and train with me, but I understand it's not his thing and I don't want to force anything on him.

I'm with OP. My husband only runs when he plays softball with his friends. Their softball division is pretty much an excuse to be outside and drink beer. Which I don't disapprove of, it is just not running.

I've been trying to encourage him to start running but being late to the game myself (I only started running seriously last August) I'm still in the learning process. He certainly supports it and during the week (I work from home and am a SAHM) DD2.5 and I go to the gym and I run on the treadmill. The weekends with the long runs are the hardest. It is hard to motivate myself to run around Arlington by myself for miles and miles. DD is still at the age where you have to watch her all the time or else she redecorates the walls or tries to hug the dog to death, so its not like he can get anything done while I'm running.

My BF isn't much of a runner. Mostly just a few minutes here and there to warm up for lifting weights. He did buy himself a new pair of running shoes last summer and seemed like he wanted to get into it, but he's got a bad knee from an old football injury that is an obstacle. But he is very supportive of my running so far. Although I think he thinks its a bit weird for an adult to enjoy Disneyland so much! :rotfl:

I started running in 2008 and it's always been my 'me time'. I rather like being able to set my phone on silent, plug in my headphones and not have to talk to anyone for a while. :thumbsup2

Same here...my DH was the runner long before me. He has always been encouraging -- and when I ran my first half (the Wine & Dine) we finished at the exact same time :thumbsup2 I actually had a burst of speed the last last mile and he had to catch up with me! One of the most fun things we ever did!
