How many of ya'll been "bitten" by the Concierge "bug"!

The CM's seemed nice but we didn't have too much interraction with them since our stay was so brief.

Forgot to mention....the balconies on the CL floor at WL are just awful. You feel like you're in a box with no view unless you stand. We like to read on the balcony while the kids are napping. I like to have SOMETHING to look at while I'm sitting. I've heard the dormer room balconies at GF are similar.

GOOD NEWS about your son. Your celebration trip isn't far away now! :sunny:

Floridafam - what terrific news about your child! What a weight off your shoulders!

Woody's Roundup - Sorry to hear about your experience at the WL, but it sounds like you made the best of the situation at the GF. I have to agree that while we loved the AKL and will be no doubt returning there because it was so wonderful, there is something to be said for staying at a monorail resort.

We are now a week post our vacation and I'm still daydreaming about the next trip. Where's my cappuchino machine? Where's my South African merlot? Where's my zebra domes? Oh, no, I guess I'm really home and have to fend for my own snacks Have to start planning for the next trip. Am I an official lounge lizard, or what?:teeth:

Floridafam--Thank goodness your tests came back okay. What a relief. We had a very bad scare with our youngest son last year and we still have one check up in October to make sure there are no long terms effects, so I understand the stress you have been experiencing. Enjoy your trip!!!

Fred--Please remember that you determine the gender ;-) I give my husband lots of grief for two boys and no girls.

Goodferry--We will be there soon. Get the place warmed up for me.

Cheers

Debbie - I sent you a pm the other day!:wave2: Also, wanted to ask how your DSIL is doing, has her surgeries ended for now?! I hope you are all doing alright.

WoodysRoundup - OH, NO!! So sorry you did not have a good time at WL - now I'm worried about our trip! And I had been sooo looking forward to the WL! Glad your stay at the GF was great, though, I do love the monorail resorts!!::yes::

mom_rules - I asked exactly the same question, and everybody said the deluxe concierge rooms are just a little bigger than the concierge rooms. Can't wait, hope you get your trip!:teeth:

Woodysroundup, I am sooooo sorry to hear that your stay at WL was not all you wanted it to be. I, unlike you, have yet to have a bad experience at WL on the concierge floor. All of the staff there are VERY attentive to your needs and the manager is consistantly around to interact with. (His name is Mark and I am CERTAIN that he would love to hear from you about your experiences to see if he can make it better. PM me for contact info.)

I can honestly say that they have always treated us like family. The food offerings are nice but not the main reason we like it there so I guess I never complained about it.

We are staying at the Poly this time so I will have something to compare to.

My trip reports should be interesting.

Everyone
It's not like me to do this but I just saw this video that's been on the news all day and I am stunned at how low mankind can go.

The sad part is CNN doesn't show you what I saw and it is very horrifying.

Please, let's all say a prayer for Nicholas Berg of PA and his family.

Sorry to bring you down everyone. Back to our regularly scheduled program.

Fred

Fred - All of the news of the last several days has made me heartsick. Your stay at WDW is just what you need to restore your soul.:sad1:

Thanks for putting WL CL in perspective for me - there are lots of bad posts about the Poly, too, and we absolutely loooove it!! DD and I do not use the food offerings much, either. We're always planning our next WDW restaurant meal, and too full for the CL offerings!!;)

I fully realize that our stay was an isolated incident. Given our experience, we will not stay there again. I hope I didn't sound like just another negative post about a resort. It was just our individual experience relayed back to all of you. WL wouldn't be as popular as it is if it wasn't a nice place to stay. k&a&c'smom, I'm sure your trip we'll be wonderful. BTW, we are light eaters, so we do use the food offerings alot. It doesn't take much to fill us up! We only "eat out" about one meal per day.

Fred, I hope you have an AWESOME stay at the POLY!!! You're right....I'm SO curious to read your trip report!!!

The Doctor just called.

Devin, our DS, does NOT have Cystic Fibrosis!

The test was normal. I'm in tears. Just called DH-he's in tears.

I'm so relieved. THANK YOU for your prayers! They worked.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!:sunny:

I'm so happy.... Came in just to look for your post.

I've got to get to bed. Been to the doctor with my DGD most of the day. She's fine, however her mother and I are dishcloths...completely wrung out..

Fred, I've got that counter-envy big time with you. Really hope you love the Poly. Still 220 days for me....

stevenanddonna hope you guys are having a great time....

Oh Woody.....:( :( :( But I'm so glad you didn't let it get you down, and went to GF where you felt better. The Lodge is not for everyone. My DD and I loved the Lodge. But then we only had PORFQ and one dreadful night at ASMu to compare it to. Not another deluxe, and surely not the GF!!!:hyper: :hyper:

And I thought my DD was the only person in the universe who didn't like WCC! But it just wasn't her cup of tea..... I just found out today how much she disliked it. I was trying to lighten her mood while we were waiting for the doctor's assistant to find my DGD's older medical records (they were off-site and the lady actually got in her car and plowed through boxes to find it, bless her little heart...:cloud9: ) so I turned the conversation to Disney (really  ) and mentioned WCC. She told me to cross it off the list.

And I'm glad it is not only my friend who I suggested spend her honeymoon at Disney at Poly LVC who can't get in touch with IPO.
  edited to explain that I'm not glad the others can't get in touch with IPO, just happy that it's not an isolated shun against my friend!!! :earseek:

Oh well. As I said, I'm a dishrag right now and I need some sleep.

 :wave2: room wave. Nitey, nite lizards

Fred, I'm so sorry you had to see this. I don't know how to tell you this, but I am glad CNN didn't show the entire video. It was horrifying enough for Tom Brokaw to describe it, for me. I can't handle it. My late husband spent three tours in VietNam.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

Be sure to take notes so you can do a great trip report of Poly CL. I'll be there in 220 days and I need to live through you vicorously....(sp)

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :chat:

Ohhh, Woody, that's not what I meant at all! I did take your post as a report of your trip, I do not consider you "just another bad post." You are entitled to a negative opinion, as well as a positive one!! I just meant that after reading Fred's post, I realised that I really didn't need to worry about the food offerings much, as we did not even fully use them when we stayed Poly/AKL. DD and I really enjoy our restaurants at WDW, as we live in a rural area, and have none near us!!! If you use the food offerings a lot, it would be very disappointing not to have a very large selection.

lovesdumbo - Sorry, I forgot to ask after your DD, glad to hear she is on the road to recovery!!:teeth:

More questions (sorry)-BW Concierge vs Deluxe-rooms are somewhat bigger but do you still have all the amenities of "reg" concierge? Any differences there?

mom_rules - Yes, it's the same level of concierge, just a deluxe room. The reg. concierge rooms are just a std.-sized room, the deluxe concierge rooms have more square feet. According to KerryCM, there are even water/Boardwalk view std.rooms, so the view is the same, too.:sunny:

Edited to add: I checked, and the std. rooms are around 400 sq. ft., and the deluxe rooms are 644 sq. ft.! The deluxe rooms have a sitting area, too.

Do they have daybeds too? Sounds like an option for us if I can't get AP rate at Poly.

And thanks for concern for DD. She's doing much better today. I knew she was really sick yesterday when I gave her a Dora coloring book with new crayons and she didn't have the strength to look at it. But by early evening she was asking to eat and thankfully kept it down.

Well, somebody else will have to answer, I only know the std. room sleeps 5, while the deluxe room sleeps 6. I don't know if that means there is a pull-out sofa in the sitting area, or what?! Maybe KerryCM will be along to answer!

p.s. glad to hear DD is feeling better!:sunny:

Woodysroundup-thanks for report. I'm glad you were able to switch to GF and had a nice trip. I feel the same way about the food offerings-I don't go just for that but do like the lounge at Poly. I thought Sugar Loaf was cosidered "concierge light". What kind of offerings did they have?

:wave2: Boy...I've been BUSY the past couple of days...and just entered the lounge to check~in & say hello! Things are JUMPING here! :bounce:

Floridafam....Your post brought tears to my eyes. Tears of complete JOY!! You must be on Cloud nine! :cloud9:
Thanks for sharing your fabulous news.

Tess~Oh, been there and done that! DD has been driving for nearly a year on her own! Hard to believe, as I recall clearly...the STRESS :scared1: associated with this passage! Whew...just take a deep breath...remember when YOU were his age, and relax. Of course, praying also helps.

lovesdumbo~So glad to hear your DD is feeling better! :goodvibes

Majestic~Wonderful news about the sonogram (let this one be a SURPRISE!! ), a HEALTHY BABY is #1. Are you all set and ready to go? Packed and prepared? I wish you a MAGICAL TIME! I've always enjoyed your posts, especially the detailed & descriptive ones you share upon returning. Hold some thoughts for us. We'll be with you in SPIRIT! :teleport:

k&a&c'smom~:wave2: Missed you..hope you are enjoying the week!

WoodysRoundup~It's been SOooo long since we stayed at the WL, but we enjoyed the BEST time there. I'm so sorry for all the problems you experienced, and glad the rest of your stay was MAGICAL. The things you described in detail, (small, dark room, inferior amenities, etc.) have also been used in reference to the AKL. Both of these resorts are more "isolated" than any of the monorail or Epcot resorts. They also offer only bus/boat transportation...where the monorail are SO convenient for transportation to the MK & TTC. I'm happy you enjoyed the GF. It is one of our favs, and the staff is extremely attentive and accomodating. ::yes:: The strawberries sound "heavenly!" They are my favorite treat while at a resort, with some champagne. Mmmm. I'm just glad you didn't "tough-it-out" at the WL. If a resort does not appeal to you, you should make other arrangements immediately! Life is too short, to be unhappy. Ive read SO many posts, were the guests remain in a terrible/unhappy situation or unsatisfactory room...and then complain like the dickens! You, did the RIGHT THING, and moved to another resort...where you enjoyed the stay immensely. :cheer2: I commend you for taking charge of the situation, and remedying the matter with a couple of phone calls.
I always say, "If you're unhappy with a situation...change it!" A VACATION...is a TERRIBLE thing to WASTE! Thank you for your candid post, and heartfelt honesty. Although I must say...I was a bit more "appreciative" of my ULTRA CHARMIN this am! :rotfl:

*To Steffy, Bambi, mom_rules...and all the other LIZARDS...a BIG WAVE & HUG to all! :grouphug:

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

Thanks everyone!

df99, yes, we are on cloud nine. I've been running around with a smile on my face since last night.

#1hockeymom,

How is your SIL? She will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Hopefully, we'll get to meet a few of the lounge lizards at WL on May 22. I hope our stay goes off without a hitch. At this point, I could care less if we have to sleep outside. I'm just happy to have healthy kids. I was kind of sad to hear Woody's report on WL. I hope they were just having a bad week.

DH has gone out three times this week on his bike to train and been caught in a terrible thunderstorm each time. He said he might not even be able to finish the race if he can't get some decent training in. Everyone is expecting it to be HOT!! that weekend. Oh well, whatever happens we'll be at Disney World.

Have a great day everyone!!! :sunny: :teeth:

DF - Hey, girl, how ya been?! I've missed you, too! And where's Bambi?! She must be working her tail off!:crazy2:

I changed my dates around, now I will be staying BWI from July 21-24, and moving to the WL from 24-27. That way, I'll be closer to the big doin's at S/D!!:cheer2: I've received several emails from the BWI, but I'm having trouble with WL email. Sent a revised itinerary planner on Sun., when I changed the dates, and haven't heard from them. Called this a.m., still nothing. Hopefully, I'll hear from them this evening.:teeth:

I need some advice!!!!

I currently have reserved Contemporary Tower Club for October. But, I called today to see what other concierge was available at monorail resorts. The CM told me that I could get GF Sugar Loaf for a couple of hundred dollars more.

Is it worth it? I don't know?!? Right now, I requested MK view and hopefully I would get it. I am in the Tower so monorail is easy access. But....I have always wanted to stay at GF. Is Sugar Loaf far from the monorail? Also, can you see MK from anywhere!

Experts... help me PLEASE! :Pinkbounc

Oh, and floridafam... you are in my thoughts... I am sure your son will be fine!

Majestic... hope you have a great trip...keep your wife hydrated!

Bumping this question!!

PS: Floridafam... I am so happy that your son is OK!!

Dreamflight... Thanks for your perspective on our trip experience. It was much appreciated! I agree with your philosophy. I am not a complainer by nature. Like yourself, if I don't like a situation, I just take the necessary steps to change it. Changing resorts was the absolute BEST thing we did on our trip. The difference for us was the difference between night and day. I'd stayed at the GF six years ago and loved it even more this time. LOL about your Charmin!

annamonte I don't know if this will help your decision or not, but here goes.... We'd stayed at the CR Tower Club years ago. I remember liking it very much but I don't recall the various food offerings. It was convenient but I think it was just set up by the elevators. I ADORE the CR tower rooms. GF and CR are very different but I love them both for different reasons. Gf is more serene and CR is more "hopping". A MK view room in the CR tower is absolute perfection IMO.

lovesdumbo... Sugar Loaf is concierge light - no alcohol at all, or food past 7pm. Breakfast had muffins, danishes, bagels, toast, cereal, juices, coffees, water, teas, fresh fruit and yogurt. Midafternoon snacks had veggies and dip, assorted breads and cookies, cheese, lunchmeat, fruit. After dinner (5-7pm) had one hot snack, veggies, assorted crackers and dip, fruit, cookies. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things but that's the best I could remember with two tots in tow. The lounge area is set up in the lobby area (ground floor) of Sugar Loaf. They even had a pint sized marble table and chairs which my kids loved to sit at. Hope this helps you!! :earsboy:
