How many of ya'll been "bitten" by the Concierge "bug"!

I wasn't going to let that other thread get to me but I guess we lounge lizards are the reason Americans are overweight. We're lazy because we like it when someone turns back our sheets and puts little chocolates on the pillow. We also have to have someone wait on us for our every need.

I better call my DH right now and tell him he's lazy. Oh wait, I can't. After he works 10 hours today, he had to study for his English final tomorrow, go for a 2 1/2 hour bike ride and then come home and study for a different test he's taking next month.

 Okay, I feel better.

AHEM.. here goes.. GO FOR THE ROYAL ANYTHING SUITE! I can give you really good directions for baby ankole, and that suite is to die for! I think his cousins are on Arusha savannah, so you can visit them and when you need a walk you can go out trail hopping down to the end and go visit my DEAR Ankole family!

YOu guys put a great big smile on my face reading all of this!

I, too, thought the thread was dying! DF< you're right, do nothing and nothing is accomplished. I must write more! We posted on the "other" thread at the same time, but I loved your post so much while mine was this whishy washy thing! OK, I am repeating my new mantra.. must be more like BT and DF, must be more like BT and DF (put in alpha order!)

GO WINGS! Don't let me down!
Debbie

You know.... I can't believe I am not capable of turning back my own covers! To think I haven't been tucked in in ages, I "own" an 18 and 10 year old and did many a bedtime, still do.. yet I can't do that myself! Oh what is the world coming to! *said with major sarcasm*

Hi, My name is Debbie... and I LOVE turndown service! I also just go into the concierge lounge to read the NYT and drink ice tea, and I have been known to smile like there is no tomorrow when escorted directly to my room!

DF>> didn't you use to have a line on your signature about working hard playing harder? I can't remember what it was now, but I LOVED it!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP WOODY'SROUNDUP!

Debbie

PS>> I have PGV concierge on hold right now for the second half of our S/D sorority amuckness trip! THe CM was confident that the rates would be released before the courtesy hold would be taken off! See! I am trying to branch out from AKL!:hyper:

DF- this is the article I found about the "rehitching" ceremony at the GG......

Rehitching Ceremony -- Wanna let your loved one know you're still committed? The Garden Grill also offers a "Rehitching Ceremony!" Scott Thomas, of PS Calculator fame, writes: When making a PS for any meal at the Land's Garden Grill restaurant, including the Ice Cream Social, tell the Cast Member making the PS to note you would like to be rehitched. When you check in at the Garden Grill make sure you mention it to both the CM at the podium and your server when getting seated. I don't want to spill the beans about the ceremony but it's a fun, quick way to add a little fun at WDW. Oh, and take a deep breath when kissing your bride/groom!"

Sounds like this will be a LOT of fun! :D
Aida emailed me back a little while ago and got the whole thing taken care of for me. DH and I are going to be "rehitched" on Sunday May 30th at 5:00pm. I can't wait to see his face :o

Debbie - You make me laugh, you really do!! I, too, have spent my whole life getting in and out of bed by myself, and tucking in my children, yet, strangely, I LOVE turndown service, call me crazy!!

DF - I'm gonna have to "just say no" to the other thread, the more I try to explain myself, the worse it gets. I, too, am a mediator, always trying to fix something, make someone feel better, not left out, etc. But I have to accept it, some people just won't be reasoned with, that's very hard for me to understand!

floridafam - It's good to let it out, then we can move on, right!!:teeth:

BT - the consensus is, the Royal Kuba suite for you, sweetie!!:teeth: I know, I know, it is still your decision!:sunny:

Edited for spelling!!

I really would like to put my two cents in on the other thread, but I feel like there are people that feed off the dissention and discontent the fighting brings about on these boards. For the record, nobody criticized anybody until BT posted the link about turndown service, in her usual classy and kind way. Then all the sudden, it's you people have your own thread, we don't want to hear it.
I do like a chocolate on my pillow when I come back to my room. I LOVE the idea of not having to wait in line to check in, I LOVE not having to sit on the phone for an hour making dinner reservations and I LOVE the idea of running to the lounge in the morning to get something to eat while we are all getting ready for the parks. I could go on and on. We work VERY hard every day, we have four kids, when I go on vacation, I want to be pampered. That does not make me fat or lazy, quite the opposite.
We have stayed in non-concierge rooms before and enjoyed our trip, and who knows what future trips will hold, however, now that we are in a position to afford concierge, I don't think I should feel bad about the decision to spend the money. Could you imagine if one of us posted a comment that it's a waste of money if you went to WDW and didn't stay concierge, because you wouldn't be getting the best service? I haven't seen anyone that posts on this thread ever post anything mean or insulting, just kind and supportive of everyone's right to enjoy their own vacation, no matter where they decide to stay. So now I have vented.
:teeth:
I am going to have a glass of wine and cook dinner. Would you all like me to leave wine and dessert tonight, I feel bad that Debbie has been doing all the work lately :hyper:
By the way, I did switch to FL Tours. I was too nervous after reading all the negative press about TTC. I booked a limo, the kids will be thrilled, who am I kidding, so will I!

woodysroundup-talking about diapers, have you tried the new Pampers Easy Ups in size 1-2T? I had a few with me on my last trip. I figured it would be easier to put on the baby (then just 11 1/2 months-but a healthy & robust 22+ pounds) on the plane/airport rather than having to get her to lie still to put a "regular" diaper on. I did use just regular diapers in the parks. Have fun packing!

DF-I believe I did use the word "mad" but I was talking about the attacks/rudeness not the opinions that CL isn't for all folks.

Did anybody get an answer on the diaper thing, that would rock, I wouldn't have to stop at the grocery store!

Well, they offered to get Gatorade for my DH and have it put in the fridge in our room (WDW only sells Powerade.) I suppose diapers wouldn't be too different although I'd rather buy them myself to make sure I received the right kind.

I decided to pick up the Gatorade ourselves.

Hope this helps.

DH & I did the rehitching ceremony last fall for our 10th. It was waaaaaay cute! And yes, captainconcierge was many many shades of red, but a good sport. The characters will come to your table and a CM will announce your anniversary. You'll then kiss as many times as years you've been married (a good reason to do this early in the marriage!). We also got a little cake compliments of the GG.

I, too, am a mediator, always trying to fix something, make someone feel better, not left out, etc. But I have to accept it, some people just won't be reasoned with, that's very hard for me to understand!
I'm with you k&a&c'smom! I actually worked as a family mediator in an early intervention program for a while. Finally learned that there are some people who need that irritant to keep them going. So are we all masochists or what? Why, oh why, did I read that "other" thread? And why did I post a response after I decided it was pointless? Oh well, guess it's like pickin' at a scab!

WoodysRoundup - have a great trip! Even though we're down to single digits I'm still jealous!

Thanks steveanddonna, you told me a few things about the rehitching ceremony that I didn't know about. (kissing for # of years married.) DH and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary pretty soon so that's why I decided to do this now.

Hi! Ya'll got me thinking... I've posted this question on the resort board but think I need the advice of concierge experts. So here goes...
We have a reservation for 5 night WL stand view dream maker, includes uph tix for 2 adults 2 dds, disney kids go free for $1700. I can upgrade to concierge for $800 more or $2500.

DDs are 5 & 7 and it will be DD5's birthday. Is this worth 2500? So far I haven't gotten very positive response but I wanted the advice from people who do spend more for concierge.

We've saved a long long time for this but I don't want to be stupid about it:teeth:

Your honest advice / opinion would be greatly appreciated. Only 33 days until our trip:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

fam4jc,

That's a tough call. $800 is a lot of money but we love WL Concierge.

We found it very convenient for our family not to be running back and forth all the time to Roaring Forks for drinks or food or snacks.

The 7th floor is nice and quiet. This is another plus.

The CM's working on the Concierge level are very nice and will assist you in planning PS's and such.

How many sit down meals are you planning on eating? Are you going to be spending a lot of time in the parks? Will you need the use of a fridge on your trip?

luckywife - be sure to mention your anniversary to the CM when you make PS's for any restaurant. I was a little hesitant to do so, but IPO made sure everyone (and I do mean everyone, right down to Pooh & friends at CP!) knew it was our anniversary. The CMs at each restaurant made a point of mentioning our special celebration, and really seemed to enjoy having a special day to acknowledge.

fam4jc - When are you going? Have you priced out your trip using an AP for one of your party, UPH's are not often the best way to go, and you could get a very nice discount on your room.

That being said, it seems that your price minus park admission would be around $1380, or $276/night, is that correct? This seems like a reasonable amount for all the extra services you would get from concierge. The breakfast, snacks, milk, juice, etc. is wonderful for parents of little ones, you can relax in the lounge, kiddos can watch TV and have a snack/drink. Not to mention my favorite part of CL - the help with planning!!::yes:: I find the PS's made by the cm's in concierge get you to your table faster, another plus with hungry children. And, you get to bypass the regular check-in and head straight to the lounge, what could be better than that!!:teeth:

Everything depends on what you want from your vacation, and your budget. It's very hard to advise others, but if you want a special trip, then go for it!!:wave2:

For the first part of your quote, very sensible of you, and I wish I had been so wise!;) You are absolutely right, I will try to follow your example!

And as for the second part, that's very nice of you, I'm sure we'll all enjoy the offerings!!:teeth:

I wish I had followed my own advice. It's like a car accident, I can't look away!!!
Now I am thinking the re-hitching ceremony sounds great. DH came in tonight and I was asking his advice on our itinerary, and he said "whateve you want" The re-hitching ceremony would serve him right, I am sure he would turn one hundred shades of red:earseek: Has anyone done the re-hitching during the ice cream social, I have been eyeing it up because we just can't seem to get enough of them character meals. We have been married 14 years this year.
I am trying to decide if I need that second glass of wine and chocolate mousse??

No, but I did email IPO and I'll let you know what they say. My DH said, "if they can arrange to have specific items in your room fridge, maybe they can arrange to have diapers there when you arrive". Sounded logical to me. If not, it's not a big deal...just would be nice. I asked about the brand we use but it really doesn't matter to me if they have a different kind. I alternate anyway since I find that if I stick with one brand my kids are prone to more diaper rashes. I'll keep you all posted!

Hi also to hockeymom and dreamflight!

lovesdumbo.... great idea about easy ups on the plane! I wouldn't have thought of that!!!!

3 and 1/2 days to go!!! :jumping1:

steveanddonna--your trip is coming up fast! Are you staying at the Poly cl this trip?
You all will not believe what I just did. I booked on Hotwire for the first time ever!!! I was a nervous wreck, not knowing the name of the hotel and all until I had paid. We wanted a hotel room near the airport that would shuttle us over in the morning for our flight in June. I got the Embassy Suites in Pittsburgh for $40!! A room there usually goes for over $100 a night.

About the rehitching ceremony. . .OMG my h would have a cow! He would hate it, seriously! You should've seen his face when Goofy kept trying to get his attention at Ohanas at breakfast . . Oh my, I was falling out of my chair laughing at my h, while he was trying to ignore Goofy, while Goofy was shaking his butt at my h! He just hates being in the spotlight! LOL!
