How many folks staying at SSR don't request a section before arriving?

I don't know why this seems so hard to do....but we leave two weeks from tomorrow and I have yet to call and request a section and this is our first every DVC trip and our home resort. I just can't seem to decide.....It is between Grand Stand, Congress Park and the Springs of course. So part of me thinks...maybe we should arrive and just say...."we would be happy in any of these three sections". I am sure that is not the way to go either.

We just had a trip earlier this month. Being our first trip home we didn't think, or didn't know about requesting rooms so we didn't. We got a great room in CP that had a pretty good view of the west side of DTD. We are going back in late Dec. and again didn't request a room. We just didn't think of it. We are going to see how our luck goes again this time before trying to request rooms.

I wish you luck!:thumbsup2

We didn't know about requesting sections for our first trip home this past April and ended up in Congress Park...we did request the same for our next trip but will be happy wherever we end up.

Enjoy your trip!

I have never requested a section at SSR and have always enjoyed my stays in Congress park. I prefer a room ready sooner, rather than in one particular section.

Not specially a section but we do have other requests.

We are going first time in Oct and decided not to request....spending 7 days on vacation is the best part...room location not important

We are going to SSR for New Year's Eve and the rest of that week. Decided not to request b/c its our first stay at SSR so we want to "let the chips fall where they may". After we see it all in person we may have requests for our subsequent trips.

I sort of feel the same way as the last two posters...

I have not really requested too much at other places....so this is sort of new. Sometimes I think these boards ARE TOO INFORMATIVE. LOL I have read so much about SSR I start 2nd guessing everything. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I think if we get in the Springs, Grand Stand or Congress Park we will be fine.

We didn't request a section but we did request a ground level room, the wife has some mobility problems and the closer to parking the better.

When we requested a section, we opted to take a ready room instead of a room in that section. Really, it was no big deal.

I'm in the "room ready" fan club. Sections, room views, etc etc are not as important to me as they are to some others - Remember everyone is different in what they prefer. Don't stress too much about it! You're going on vacation and hopefully will have many many more.

Enjoy!

We have never requested a section, but have stayed in Congress Park for all our SSR trips. We also prefer to just go where the room is ready, and no fuss about anything else. We dont mind the walk to the main area, and often stay at the quiet pool anyway. We rent a car, so the bus stop is not an issue.

The only thing is, this time I may ask if anything is available in the other sections just to try, but I am not really concerned. We will probably end up in Congress Park again this October - and that is fine!

Well different from eporter66, we requested Congress Park with a DTD view, and were "not assigned" there according to the CM checking me in at 8:30 am. She had two studios ready in the newest Grandstand buildings, so I took one on the 3rd floor of the 9100 to 94xx building.

At first I was really disappointed. We had a view of the canal and golf course, could see the treehouse villas off to the right. but our studio was the farthest from the elevator, and a walk to the bus stop, Grandstand pool and laundry. DH said it was better to have a room ready than to wait all day for one in Congress Park. And then much to my amazement when we walked to Carriage House and Artist Pallette it took...are you ready?...a whole 8-9 minutes. So the studio worked out very well.

Thanks everyone.....I am probably going to be fine no matter where we end up. This is our first DVC trip so we are just happy for that. :goodvibes

We have stayed in several of the SSR sections. All sections are OK and It really depends on what you want close by. Grand Stand is first Bus Stop. Springs is close to the large pool and more central. We prefer Congress Park because it is within walking distance of DTD.

Since it is your first trip, I would take what is ready and during your stay, spend some time looking at all the different sections and make up your own mind as to where you wish to request your next stay. Each section has it plusses and minuses. It is up to you to decide. I agree that there is no bad section, just different, and we don't mind the variety.

I will tell you what NOT to request and that is Carousel. If you are given that, BEG to see if there is anything else. We were there in March and if you don't have a car, you are out in the boonies, way way too far away from everything.

Well I would only take that if we absolutely had no other choice ...but not expecting that to be the case next week. At least I hope not. :scared1:

Ya, I didn't know if you knew how far away it really is...but if you do wind up with it, do what I did, and make the best of it, its still beautiful. But whatever you do, get your grocery stuff at that little store right after you check in (milk, juice), because you probably won't be seeing that section of the resort very often. Good luck!
