How Many DVC'ers use the Owners Lockers?

I bought in recently too and will try it out next week! I also have a trip booked for Christmas/New Years and thought that I would bring a small tree and some lights down with me next week to store for the holiday trip! I bought airfare so early in the year that I am "grandfathered" in to being allowed to check 2 bags next week without charges, so this is how I plan on bringing the tree down. ( 12" tree) Since we bought DVC, I think it makes good sense as we plan to do more trips in the future!

We love my owner's lockers. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It makes you feel like you are really coming home :cloud9:

We needed two since we alot of extra stuff for our 3 young kids.

Well I am a crazy organizer and expirations were an issue for medicines and what not - so I just added an expiration to the list and I print this out when we go and make any changes when we got home.

WOW you get all that in there???? I am impressed. So you leave most toiletries there huh?

I have not been a huge owner's locker supporter but i decided to give it a whirl this trip.

If no one posts a pic of theirs I will take some next week.

Sorry if this is OT, but saw your signature, which was awesome and wanted to congratulate you on quitting smoking! You've almost saved enough for an extra Disney Trip! :goodvibes

I just signed up too! Schedules my first trip right away. I do have a question though, even though I clicked "heard about it from the dis", my confirmation email still says the initial membership fee is $75. What happened to the discount?:confused3

When you did the check out page...it should have reflected the discount. Did it? If not...you will get an email you can always inquire with a reply back on that confirmation email. Let me go back and see what mine said. Okay here is what I got next in an email.....

We’re excited that you’ve become a new Owner’s Locker Member with our promotion on The DIS. I just want to confirm that as a part of this promotion, the Membership Fee will be $45 instead of the usual $75 and that your Standard Annual Plan will include TWO Visits per year the first three years of your Membership in Owner’s Locker.

If you have any questions at all about your new Membership, please let us know.

Welcome aboard!!

John and Brian

Our first visit with our Owner's Locker begins September 10th! Count me in the group with the skeptical spouse, but I just signed us up anyway, thinking we could cancel if he/we didn't find the program to be valuable.

However, DH is already sold, as I've started a box of things that we're going to take down in a suitcase to fill our locker. He keeps looking in the box at the full-size toiletries, Mickey rain ponchos, his extra electric razor, etc. and saying things like, "I hadn't thought about THAT! It will be great to not have to haul those things back and forth." :rotfl:

We LOVE our locker. I never know if we are going to have a studio or one bedroom so we have real dishes and microwave cooking stuff. We leave all the lotions, potions and soaps there too. Bought a great knife so I can actually cook. For us the entire reason to purchase DVC was to have home like experience, kitchen included. The best thing I say is no more trips to Walgreen because we forgot something. We have so many things that make our trip a true trip home

florep1,

We were able to change the mechanics of the OL site for the DIS promotion so that you are given the discount for the Membership Fee but trying to get to site to show that extra visit was going to be a very expensive proposition.
Since this is a temporary promotion, we decided to manually send a confirming e-mail like the one edk35 got (and you will too!) Thanks for signing up!

tiggrbuny, thank you for the fantastic post. Your last sentence is what we're all about!

John

I am wondering if anyone has stored any leftover bottles of water or snacks in their OL? The snacks and water would be unopened. Is this ok to do? Does the water get weird tasting? I didn't know if the warehouse was temperature controlled or not.

Good question!!! I am pretty sure the warehouse is temp. controlled. I do believe I read that. I probably wouldn't do it if it weren't. I guess it depends on what type of snacks and how often you go. Most food products have some sort of exp. date on them.

Thanks! My savings have been going towards camping equipment :-)

I'm still debating getting a locker, mainly because I can't figure out how to get it started. I travel solo most of the time and use DME, so I don't have a car to go to the store. I can't imagine trying to haul all the stuff I'd want to put in the locker down there by myself. I know it's something I really want to do, but the logistics are a dilemma.

What happens if you have a split stay? Do you have to move the locker yourself?

we have signed up and will use it for the first time at Christmas. Like another poster, we have our own Disney locker at home that gets put in the car for the annual Christmas trip.

We also usually make at least two othere trips during the year and fly. I see the biggest advantage being the limit of liquids in luggage and now many airlines charging for baggage.

Having had a bottle of hairspray release in my luggage in may and hubby had his toothpaste explode in his--this sealed the deal for us in regard to OL. I spent the afternoon of arrival at Disney doing laundry instead of enjoying the parks.

No reason why you couldn't ship a box down to yourself at your resort the first time. We considered doing that. It seems that a lot of people do so.
