Just curious... How many DVC'ers don't have kids yet, or have no plans to become parents at all?

My DH and I don't have any children, and we go back and forth about whether we will or not. I guess we are both more of the mindset 'if it happens, great... if it doesn't, that's OK too'

We love to travel, and that's what we do in the meantime. We went to WDW for our honeymoon 4 years ago, fell in love with the place and a year ago we finally joined DVC. I have been catching a lot of slack from family and friends over the years for loving WDW as much as we do. How can you go there over and over? Isn't that for kids? Why would you join a timeshare there?

I know that basically all 'Disney People' deal with these questions - but, it also made me wonder how many people fell in love with WDW as an adult without kids.

We have kids....5, and the youngest is now 19.
However, we travel to WDW, DL, and DCL cruises without them more times than with them!:cool1:

We basically try to have 1 family trip per year, either WDW or Aulani.
Then, we have on average 2 or 3 trips just the two of us!

A lot of people don't understand that WDW is a resort experience, especially if you stay long enough and go often enough that you don't have to pound the pavement all day long to "see and do everything".:goodvibes

We love our DVC!

We have two offspring...44 and 38, and they were both adults when we joined 16 years ago. Does that count? Oh, and no grandchildren on the horizon, so likely not going to happen. The good thing...The adult "kids" still like to come to Disney with us occasionaly.

We have no children and have made permanent decisions to ensure we don't have any. We love our Dvc and the freedom we have to travel when and where we want with it. We knew when we first met neither of us really wanted kids. Everyone makes their choices and if we had kids we wouldn't be able to travel the way we do.

My DH and I joined on our Honeymoon at AKL. We had thought about it for a while (2 years) and looked at our current habits and desires moving forward. We go on DCL cruises a lot ( this New Years is #4 and one on each boat). We did DL last year and DW the year before. I also went to Aulani for one night without him by renting points from a member. This gave me a taste of what it would be like

We generally plan on at least on Disney related trip a year at this point in our life (if it was up to me we would go much more often)

We eventually plan to have kids and with my love of Disney, I want to continue to visit as much as possible. The DH wants to be able to not pound the pavement every trip and enjoy the slower pace which we hadn't been able to do before.

My fiancée and I (25 & 24) have been members since 2011. We are getting married this September and doing a 2 week disneymoon.

We love DVC and the freedom it gives us. We will certainly have kids and give them all the wonders of DVC but we have agreed it will be about 5-6 years from now. Many more trips by ourselves!

DW and I are 45 and 41 respectively. Been married for 17 years and have no kids and no intention of kids. We have been DVC members for about 12 years now and love it. I knew I never wanted kids at an early age and made sure that the woman I would eventually marry had the same convictions as me. I got some nieces and nephews that I can leave it to if that need arises in the future.

I have adult kids..........we joined when they were adults.
We do 3-4 trips a year and they have only gone on a couple family ones with us.
We enjoy going with just the 2 of us a lot!

We are both in our 60's and our kids are in their 30's. DS38 has very little interest in Disney but DD32 does like WDW and has been with us a number of trips. In fact she just got back from her honeymoon where they stayed at AKV (using our points). Hopefully sooner rather than later, we'll have some grandchildren that can go with us.

Married in '98, joined in '02, had DD in '06. Love that we had it before her. All paid off before baby arrived!

Dh and I have been going to WDW since 1988 when we had 2 kids at home, when OKW first became available ( I believe 1993) I wanted to buy in but Dh kept saying "once the kids are gone we won't come hardly ever".

Fast Forward, kids are grown and gone...lo and behold we go to WDW even more often and enjoy it on a whole new level. When BCV first build DVC (our favorite resort at the time) in 2002, we jumped on it Then added again a year later. Then AKV opened DVC and 'Wow, we loved it'...bought there too, then added on 4 more times.

You see the pattern. We look at DVC as a retirement community and our purchases as 'retirement homes'. To people who give us flak, we usually say that it's no different than people going to the same mountain home or beach home year after year. We also often say we're going to Florida, rather than we're going to WDW. Everyone knows where we're going but we get no comments (of few) that way.

This is precisely the reason I am happy we joined before we (if we...) have kids.

I honestly don't think we would have ever been able to afford it afterward.

No kids and no plans to have any. In fact I bought before I was married, my husband and I were just dating at the time. Love my DVC and so happy I bought it.

We've been together 10 years (and we're finally getting married in October), no kids yet. Glad we bought our DVC contracts before we had kids, would have been too expensive afterward.

We have no kids. DBF would like one, I am on the fence. We both love to travel and love Disney so having DVC before kids was a no brainer.

We are 44 and 47.

Dh and I joined in 2006.

We started trying to have kids in 2002 and nothing worked. We will be applying for adoption this Summer, and will have a good long wait after then.

We have gone to WDW with relatives and friends with their kids. We really enjoy trips with and without other people's kids. I think we prefer the trips by ourselves...but I think that is because we are with OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS.

The biggest plus of travelling without kids is that you can stay in a studio in the off season and only have to worry about food and tickets for 2 people.

My husband and I were married 8 years before having kids. We went to Disney at least once a year. We finally bought DVC when our son was 2, but we still plan to take a yearly trip without him. Disney as adults is just as much fun, if not more fun, than Disney with kids!

We have 3 daughters, all adults. There are grandchildren. We bring family with us at least once a year.

We love to go to WDW alone, just the 2 of us. It wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable without our DVC. :goodvibes

No kids here, and I'm single. My Mom & I purchased DVC together in 1992. She passed away two years ago. My best friend and his wife have a 4yo daughter, so I claim her as a quasi-niece.
