Okay. When we first joined I considered 350 points to be a LOT of points. Like really a large ownership in my mind. But, as the years have rolled by, now I consider a BIG amount of points to be 500 or more.

What's your personal idea of the "big" category for points? Is there a magic number that signifies, wow, that person has a LOT of points?

There has been a post off and on here on this board regarding this. I think it's the "1000 Points and Above Club" or something like that. So, I guess 1000 points would qualify for the "BIG" category.

"Big" is anyone who has more than me. It's like income, if you make more than me, you are rich.

Since I only have 200 points, I'd say BIG is 500 or more. I AM SO JEALOUS!!!

I just bought into DVC via resale and only have 150 points-- Obviously not a BIG owner-- I just wanted to check something here--

In a prior post, it was listed that someone named King Leonidas has 3500 points-- Forgive my tendency to act like rainman here but:

Even at resale prices over the last 10 years, the average price for those points has to be around 70-72 per point(obviously that depends on where the points are from)- but using the low end of 70 per point, this individual has spent almost a quarter of a million dollars on points?? and that does not included closing costs, and maintenance, which assuming the points are all from OKW, would still be well over $10,000.00 per year-

After all of these calcuations, I have only one bit of advice for the King- You still need another 1601 points my friend-- By my calculation, that would give you 5101 points- and once you reach that numer, you can book a studio at OKW for the whole year-- thats right, 1/1-12/31. An interesting way to retire in Disney-- good luck

To JIMC, you seem to have the info.
Is there a limit on the amounts of points that Disney allows one person to own?

I'm just thinking, what would keep a rental company from coming in and buying up large blocks of points and selling off rooms for a profit......

I think big is anyamount of points because it is Disney and we get to go on Big vacations every year, even with 210 points.

The maximum number of points any one individual can own is 5,000 with no more than 2000 at any one resort. This maximum doesn't really mean much though. For example any couple could easily own 10,000 points by titling 5,000 points in the name of one spouse and the other 5,000 points titled in the name of the other spouse. Theoretically, 5,000 more points could be titled in the name of each child in the family...while still leaving control of all the points in the hands of one person.

I'll leave the rental part of your question for someone else to answer.

Interesting observation, rainman
And if he is single and looks a bit like Johnny Depp in POC...can you get his phone number for me!'

I believe I read somewhere on our contract that you can rent a maximum of 2000 points per year - anyone have more info?

2000 at any one resort and 5000 aggregate.

It's not the size of your points, it's how you use them that counts.

That's what they say if they don't have BIG points.

I think 500 is BIG. 1000 is huge. 2000 is astronomical!
