How many DVC members do you think there are?

My profile shows a club ID for each contract we own even though we own multiple contracts at a couple of resorts.
My SO only shows one such ID that is identical except with that one ending in .1 and with mine ending in .2

My wife's name is on all three of ours and she has 3 member ids on the dashboard. I dont even know what our club id is
In your MDE app, in your Profile, under Memberships and Passes, does it say Disney Vacation Club Member? How many ID numbers do you have under that?

We have two contracts, but they’re both BWV and same UY, so same 12-digit Membership Number that applies to all 3 of us who own those contracts.

I only have one Club ID, 6 digits with a point-2 at the end. I’m pretty sure DH is the point-1, because he’s listed as Primary Purchaser on our contracts.

I’m trying to sort out the difference between this 7-digit Club ID and the 12-digit Membership Number. It’s obvious the Membership Number can apply to multiple people, so I’m thinking the Club ID is what identifies an individual person, but y’all can help clarify that since you have multiple memberships.

Mine all say DVC and have one for each contract we own. I only have one that is the smaller number one. That is the one that my SO also has the only difference being .1 vs .2

IOW, sounds like the 7-digit one identifies the person, while the 12-digit ones identify the memberships.

Is this in your profile in MDE? In MDE, all I have is the short one (my Club ID), not the longer membership number.

ETA - I'm talking about in MDE, not the DVC member website. On the DVC member website, I see our membership number followed by our two contract numbers (which are 7 digits followed by a point-0 or point-1, total 8 digits). I don’t see a Club ID (total of 7 digits) anywhere!

Yes I have multiple long and one short but SO just has short one with the .1 showing

Yes it does, I have one id. Is that normal? Didnt know i had that 🤣 I have two UY and 3 memberships

I think the Club ID is different from the Membership Number. DH, DD, and I are all owners of one Membership, but we each have a separate Club ID. And my Club ID is listed in my profile in MDE, Memberships and Passes, under Disney Vacation Club Member. So that’s why I thought it would be an easy way for DVC to count the number of members, both total across all resorts as well as per resort. DH, DD, and I would count as 3 members in the overall DVC total and 3 members of the BWV condo association.

You have two membership numbers, but how many Club IDs do you have? Since I have only one membership, I might be looking at this with incomplete information.
The ID number in the MDE account, shown in your profile where the site also identifies you as a DVC Member since you signed up providing that site with information that shows you are a DVC Member, is applicable to MDE, a general Disney account, and is not a DVC account number. Anyone can sign up for an MDE account, not just DVC members, and all who sign up receive an MDE account ID number.

The information as to number of members per resort that appears in the BVTC Disclosure Document has been provided since DVC began in the 1990s. The MDE account and its account number did not exist before the MDE account was created in August 2012, and there was never mention at the time that BVTC (or DVD) was going to cease using the same sources for DVC member information it had always used before to provide the per resort member numbers.

That per site information in the BVTC Disclosure Document shows for each DVC Resort a total number of member owners of each resort. Any member that owns two resorts is counted in both, and thus the numbers provided cannot be added up to determine the actual total number of all DVC Members. Perhaps if DVC used the MDE ID numbers, it could provide a total, although that assumes, possibly incorrectly, that every DVC Member actually has an MDE account, and that BVTC/DVD has easy access to the information in that Disney-in-general MDE account, i.e., the DVD/DVC employees may not even have access to that information. In the 27 years I have been a member, I do not recall DVD/DVC ever actually publishing a total member number for all of the DVC members.

I got my Club ID from MS after providing my one time activation code after my first purchase.

I was told I would never need it again, but I still have it saved in my notes.

This is not the number I have listed in MDE under memberships & passes. I have no idea what that number is 🤣
Me happy I keep literally every email ever. I will have to find this and put in my notes to have just in case.

So the one in MDE maybe is just to identify us for discounts and stuff. I probably still have those club ids too, maybe I should ask MS what its for. Seems like a membership number is enough but maybe it was just to activate and then that's it

The number I’m talking about is the one scratched out beneath Disney Vacation Club Member. I don’t think it’s an MDE account number based on its location. I think it’s the Club ID that @PolyRob refers to above, and that makes me think that it’s intended to serve as a unique identifier for a single DVC member. If each member has a unique ID then DVC can easily count the number of members associated with each condo association as well as the total number of members.

Does Texas get special deals? Perhaps for cruises? None of the states I have lived in recently show in my profile.

That is the number I was referring to. It is an MDE account number not a DVC number. Someone who signs up with an annual pass who is not a DVC member, and provides information as to having the pass, will also be recognized in that same Memberships and Passes section with a an MDE account number as an annual passholder.

And assuming it is a DVC number that identifies a member and all that members holdings, and could be used by DVC to provide the actual total number of all members, it appears DVC has decided to never do that since it never has provided a member total for all DVC Resorts combined, and the numbers provided in the per resort tables in the BVTC Disclosure Document cannot be added together to provide such a figure because members in its tables who own two resorts are counted in the total for each such resort.

The Target gift cards really do help....

I have a question about this. If I bought the discounted Disney giftcard and used it for merch at the parks, would I still get the full 20% DVC or AP discount?

Absolutely. Stack that savings! You can even do it via mobile checkout by applying the DGC as a payment method. The DVC/AP affiliation is automatically applied and you just checkout with DGC as payment. Same thing with MagicBand room charging. Use the discount and pay off the bill at the front desk with your discounted DGCs.

Don't you love "Disney math?" :teacher:
